Remember he was sent away by his father to a "military school". That's what rich people used to do with their antisocial teens rather than deal with them.

When I was a kid, the richest family around owned a number of funeral parlors. There were twin sons, few years older than me. They would take pals into the basement, and abuse the bodies. Rumored to have sex with female bodies. The rumors reached the parents, not sure what happened, but they were sent away to Military School. Never saw them again, and I moved away during college. Relatives told me they never showed their faces in town again. One of them died a drug addict years later.
