Now I understand why Trump went with Vance, who is a supporter of "Dark Enlightenment"

The Dark Enlightenment, also called the neo-reactionary movement (sometimes abbreviated to NRx), is an anti-democratic, anti-egalitarian, reactionary philosophical and political movement. The term "Dark Enlightenment" is a reaction to the Age of Enlightenment and apologia for the public view of the "Dark Ages".

The ideology generally rejects Whig historiography—the concept that history shows an inevitable progression towards greater liberty and enlightenment, culminating in liberal democracy and constitutional monarchy—in favor of a return to traditional societal constructs and forms of government, including absolute monarchism and other older forms of leadership such as cameralism.

In 2007 and 2008, software engineer Curtis Yarvin, writing under the pen name Mencius Moldbug, articulated what would develop into Dark Enlightenment thinking. Yarvin's theories were elaborated and expanded by philosopher Nick Land, who first coined the term Dark Enlightenment in his essay of the same name.

Central to Nick Land's ideas is a belief in freedom's incompatibility with democracy. Land drew inspiration from libertarians such as Peter Thiel, as indicated in his essay The Dark Enlightenment. The Dark Enlightenment has been described by journalists and commentators as alt-right and neo-fascist. A 2016 article in New York magazine notes that "Neoreaction has a number of different strains, but perhaps the most important is a form of post-libertarian futurism that, realizing that libertarians aren't likely to win any elections, argues against democracy in favor of authoritarian forms of government."

Andy Beckett stated that "NRx" supporters "believe in the replacement of modern nation-states, democracy and government bureaucracies by authoritarian city states, which on neoreaction blogs sound as much like idealised medieval kingdoms as they do modern enclaves such as Singapore."

According to criminal justice professor George Michael, neoreaction seeks to save its ideal of Western civilization through adoption of a monarchical, or CEO model of government to replace democracy. It also embraces the notion of "acceleration", first articulated by Vladimir Lenin as "worse is better", but in the neoreaction version, the creation and promotion of ever more societal crises hastens the adoption of the neoreactive state instead of a communist one.

Other focuses of neoreaction often include an idealization of physical fitness; a rationalist or utilitarian justification for social stratification based on intelligence, based on either heredity or meritocracy; an embrace of Classical philosophy, and traditional gender roles.

We need complete enlightenment, now!

Trump went with somebody who reminds him of himself to flatter his ego.

Vance reminds him of himself because he is a shapeshifter.

Rachel is discussing Yarvin now, and Shady Vance’s connections to him. She’s showing video of Yarvin complaining about his small penis, erm… I mean, pontificating about deleting our Constitutional government. He looks about as one would have expected him to look then, and he’s aged EXACTLY like one would expect now.

When you're seeing a combination of mental illness, being "non-neurotypical", developmental delay (formerly known as stupidity) and dementia, it becomes very difficult to determine exactly what defect is governing the organism at each moment. They call it the "The Cathedral" slow poke, not "The Chapel".

But it is dangerous, and highly effective, in ways mainstream media barely comprehend.

Please watch Millerman linked @ R3 at the very fucking least, before zeroing on Thiel and/or forming an opinion. And unless you’re able to deconstruct & reconstruct philosophy quickly, or at least with ease, get into philosophical studies. Do it piecemeal, like building a theoretical elephant from scratch.

One thing you need to remember is that philosophy has almost always (historically) been a study, more importantly, a time sucking pastime of the elite.

Why?

Because you have to have enough time to study it properly. In simple terms, poor or working class folk don’t have the time or energy to indulge in this shit, but wealthy persons or children of elites who end up at top tier universities, do.

Someone up-thread simply and somewhat aptly relegated all of this hogwash to Naziism. In some ways, that tracks but it’s not all.

Consider this: Elites, the REAL elite, have time to do whatever they wish, and if they’re also billionaires on a power trip who insist on placing YOU into their version of THEIR reality, they will. Without your consent or knowledge. That’s why it’s important to actually study & get a sense of how others view things.

After writing all this, here’s one of a million different points to consider: it’s all bullshit. Yes, after weighing it all out, it’s all bullshit, at least for now, but perhaps not for long. Everyone, at this time, right now have several things in common. For the purpose of getting my point across, let’s pick the most important commonality:

DEATH.

by Anonymousreply 40December 15, 2024 4:31 PM

Cont. from R40:

The moment these assholes figure out how to not age, how to not die, or even how to extend life expectancy by 30-50 years, give or take, is the moment humanity will run into some serious quandaries. Remember, eventually, this will very likely happen. Unless you’re a child or a teen, this won’t make a big difference in your lives.

People like Thiel are wealthy enough to do a LOT of drugs, to think, and to sit around with other blowhards while coming up with a bunch of ideas about what would happen of this happened, or, “what if we did this? What if we gave them that? What about if they reacted this way? What would happen if we solved immigration this way, or if we moved nations that are about to be swallowed up due to climate change over there”?

It goes on & on. It’s chess for the ultra wealthy & well educated, and still… time keeps ticking, and death is still coming for them, too.

They’re basically sitting around after getting SUPER high, and attempting to re-build worlds with the ever disappearing resources we have left. And in the end, there will only be a few types worth saving: those who can build the machine, those who become part of the machine through offering up their most basic essence as sacrificial, those who keep the machine fed, and those who resist & fight back.

You have to be as smart of them to resist. And you have to keep hidden a slice of genuine humanity to have a reason to resist, or the machine hobbles you up too.

All of this shit to say, that human nature will ALWAYS correctly place you where you are, according to who you are and what you envision not just for yourself, but for others. IF you forget about the humanity of others, the game is not yet successfully programmed for a fantastic outcome based on all machine, zero soul.

Remember that. Remember that after all is said and done, there truly are people out there who are dead men walking, and they’re dead not because they’re a profoundly mentally unwell homeless person. They’re dead because they view that person as a thing to manipulate on a chess board, or better yet, to start all over again without them on the chessboard or at the very least, away from plain sight.

The homeless or the poor and those who cannot help themselves.

👆🏽Who are they to you as you go about your day? How do you think of them? What would you like to have happen to them.

Ask yourselves these questions, because others already are doing so, and if you don’t have an answer, you have no say as to where you end up on that chess board.

Also, FUCK Jar Head Thiel. It’s a game. Let’s get a better game piece and see what happens.

by Anonymousreply 45December 15, 2024 5:43 PM

Right on time for R42 to arrive and act like the bitchy Chinese or Russian queen that they are, or at least come off as if though they are.

LMAO 😂 !

R43, I’ve never watched Altered Carbon & I’m a she, not a he. And I’m not into the pronoun bullshit, so I’m truly a female, just in case anyone thinks otherwise.

And… you’re correct. I’m not necessarily wrong, yet I’m not necessarily correct, and that’s what philosophizing is all about in the final analysis, isn’t it? We think of the possible outcomes, and how we get there organically, or non organically, or more realistically, a mixture of both.

All that, and now it’s time to get ready & go watch some football.

"the concept that history shows an inevitable progression towards greater liberty and enlightenment, culminating in liberal democracy and constitutional monarchy—in favor of a return to traditional societal constructs and forms of government, including absolute monarchism and other older forms of leadership such as cameralism."

Well, I would agree that some who support freedom and liberty talk of history and the future as if it were a religion: "Right side of history", "the arc of history bends toward justice " etc. have never been particularly compelling ideas to me.

I don't think a good OR bad future is inevitable. And if bad people win, then those of us who believe in democracy and gay rights and so forth will be written as the "wrong side".

But that one part is where my agreement with these weirdos would end. Fuck authoritarians!!!

I’m fully prepared for us to enter a period of complete experimentation. The Trump people are all gung ho but there seems to be little concrete planning. Definitely no plan to say how their actions will help Americans. Beyond immigration and tariffs I don’t think most Americans know what to expect.
