'Alien: Romulus' final trailer

So good, it deserves its own thread. Don't fight me on this.

Really not a fan of ethnic screaming, and we have Zimmer's Dune influence to thank for that.

That London accent is nasty, hopefully that guy goes first.

by Anonymousreply 1July 19, 2024 4:35 AM

Looks good but apparently no one in space is older than 25.

by Anonymousreply 2July 19, 2024 4:43 AM

r2 That'll have to be addressed in some way because it really does stick out.

by Anonymousreply 3July 19, 2024 4:44 AM

I'll stick with Ridley Scott's Alien. A masterpiece.

by Anonymousreply 4July 19, 2024 5:03 AM

R4 I understand. I saw the original Alien in the theater when it first came out. But (other than the blasphemous Alien 3), I’m always excited for a new Alien movie. No reason not to keep up. There’s much to enjoy out there.

James Cameron’s Aliens is a masterpiece and earned Sigourney Weaver an Academy Award nomination.

Ridley Scott also gave us Prometheus, another classic in the franchise.

Can’t wait for Alien: Romulus. Hard to believe it’s been 45 years since the first one.

by Anonymousreply 5July 19, 2024 6:24 AM

Ageishm Romulush

by Anonymousreply 6July 19, 2024 8:21 AM

They’re still cracking out these films? Like The Terminator franchise, they really should have stopped after the first sequel.

by Anonymousreply 7July 19, 2024 8:24 AM

This isn't in the official group of movies. Alien 1-3, Prometheus, Covenant.

This is an outlier

by Anonymousreply 8July 19, 2024 8:52 AM

It looks awful.

by Anonymousreply 9July 19, 2024 8:55 AM

I ll see it as i am a sucker for an Alien movies (though i found the latter incarnations pretentious and oddly boring). But this is agan a case where they practically show the whole movie and deaths in the trailer. Less is more.

by Anonymousreply 10July 19, 2024 1:45 PM

r10 Yeah, the whole point of the slasher is that you don't know who's gonna eat it and in what order. Hopefully we'll forget all about it by the time it opens in the theatres.

by Anonymousreply 11July 19, 2024 1:57 PM

It seemed like this was going to be an invigorating reboot but the fact that they give the whole movie away in the trailer is usually the kiss of death.

Most famous example, Batman V Superman.

by Anonymousreply 12July 19, 2024 2:01 PM

90% of us who managed to get through the trailer will definitely not be watching this garbage.

by Anonymousreply 13July 19, 2024 2:13 PM

"Dere's sum'ing in th' woh-uh!"

by Anonymousreply 14July 19, 2024 3:46 PM

"And it's not a fit build-uh!"

by Anonymousreply 15July 19, 2024 3:49 PM

He says completely without irony, as if the original wasn't *the* DEI movie of its time.

by Anonymousreply 17July 19, 2024 4:17 PM

Actually Alien's depiction of gender and race has been commented on in many film analysis

It was hardly a DEI film because it showed a future that adhered to present-day gender/race/class hierarchy

Dallas, Kane, and Ash, all white men, represented the managerial class.

Ripley and Lambert, white women, were the intermediate class.

Parker and Brett represented the proletariat.

by Anonymousreply 18July 19, 2024 4:30 PM

True enough, r18, but it subverted that by making a woman (not the apparent hero at the start of the movie, which seemed an ensemble piece), the bad ass survivor. They continued this in the series.

by Anonymousreply 19July 19, 2024 6:09 PM

Umm, let me guess that find an empty ship and discover a nest full of nasty aliens that try to eat them and then they pop out of their body. So, what's the suspense here?

by Anonymousreply 20July 19, 2024 6:12 PM

It looks like shit.

by Anonymousreply 21July 19, 2024 8:04 PM

I’ll watch it. Can’t be worse than covenant.

by Anonymousreply 22July 19, 2024 8:43 PM

Too much red. The alien egg layers sailing through the air like flying spiders was more ridiculous than creepy. I’ll pass.

by Anonymousreply 23July 21, 2024 2:07 AM

I cannot wait for this. :)

by Anonymousreply 24July 21, 2024 5:18 AM

Great, so now that all the goods stuff was shown, I will go see it for the boring dialog.

by Anonymousreply 25July 21, 2024 6:04 AM

I don’t watch anything labeled “Final Trailer”. They’re always full of spoilers. Studio marketing is ridiculously dumb for doing this. Don’t they want people to show up?

If the original Alien were released today, the trailer would show the chest-bursting scene.

by Anonymousreply 26July 21, 2024 8:32 AM

I hope there are Romulans in this

by Anonymousreply 27July 21, 2024 8:53 AM

If you want to see a good Sci-Fi movie with what I think a real alien might look like watch the movie LIFE with Ryan Reynolds and Jake Gyllenhaal.

If you want to see a piece of garbage with an alien that looks like a giant stuffed spider made by Sid and Marty Krofft watch Spaceman with Adam Sandler. It's not meant to be funny, or campy, but I just could not buy Adam Sandler of all people hugging a stuffed spider while the story line is supposed to be some deep thought about death, and the universe.

by Anonymousreply 28July 21, 2024 11:39 AM

Another bad film trailer that gives nearly everything away.

I already feel like I know who lives & who dies.

Pass.

by Anonymousreply 29July 22, 2024 5:05 AM

This guy is a huge alien fan and he can’t believe how much the studio is revealing in the marketing campaign

A new Youtube spot actually gives away the biggest secret of the movie - the alien from the Nostromo was recovered frozen in space and the creatures on the Romulus were reverse engineered from it. There are no surprises left in the movie anymore. You know where the aliens come from and you know who dies.

The movie must be a flaming turd if they feel okay in revealing everything beforehand.

I think that's just the nature of marketing campaigns these days, it doesn't necessarily speak to the movie's quality. We'll see.

by Anonymousreply 31August 3, 2024 7:56 PM

Yup. Don’t get attached to anyone aside from the British chick in the lead. They’ve shown us all their deaths.

by Anonymousreply 32August 3, 2024 9:46 PM

And you can tell in what order they go based on how sweaty and dirty they are.
