Yes, and while you've got your checkbooks out, how about another donation to The Clinton Foundation?
by Anonymous | reply 2 | July 19, 2024 3:03 AM |
Hilary, can’t you content yourself with losing when you are the nominee?
by Anonymous | reply 3 | July 19, 2024 3:06 AM |
Hillary may not be the best person to advise campaign strategy.

I told you so.
All the smart people - the ones who know that President Biden is our only shot at winning - are sticking with him.
It's the traitors and the turncoats, and the RATS who are asking him to drop out.
We know what the fuck we're talking about.
Oh, and FUCK YOU Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, and Chuck Schumer. Two faced cunts, all of you.

As long as the man could eat, breathe and shit- why would you dump an incumbent who beat Trump the last time? At the very least it shows a total lack of gratitude.
Trump is going to win or lose based on his own merits. The election is about Trump: yes or no? It has very little to do with Biden, who has led a respectable administration.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | July 19, 2024 3:41 AM |
I agree with your sentiments, r6 and r7, BUT we really don't know how fast this cognitive decline of his is progressing. They're saying it started worsening significantly this past spring, so what kind of state would he be in for the inauguration in January? You never know with these things. At a certain point, it becomes elder abuse. All I know is they never happen to evil turds like Trump.

[quote] As long as the man could eat, breathe and shit- why would you dump an incumbent who beat Trump the last time?
It would take a lot, like very bad internal polling and some serious decline and problems behind the scenes.
Sadly, I suspect Pelosi and Schumer and Jeffries are seeing all of that. They aren't just doing this on some whim or some "let's get Biden" vendetta. There is SOME problem, and simply wishing it away won't work.

Everything Bill and Hillary Clinton are doing is to benefit Gavin Newsom. The Clintons hate Joe Biden and Joe Biden hates the Clintons. HATES.
The Clintons will kibosh any plan for Biden to step down that involves rallying behind Kamala Harris. Newsom can only prevail at an open convention.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | July 19, 2024 3:07 PM |
How close is Gavin Newsom to the Clintons?
[bold]DEE DEE MEYERS works for him![/bold]
Dee Dee Myers
Director of the Governor's Office of Business and Economic Development
Myers had a sparkling resume that included press secretary to President Bill Clinton when Newsom hired her in late 2020 to run California’s business agency. That has given her a central role in guiding the state’s economic recovery from the pandemic and helping to keep major employers in the state.

So let me get this straight. Newsom, who has been among the loudest and most prolific defenders of Joe Biden is somehow nefariously working behind the scenes with Bubba and Hills to end Biden's presidency, and this is proven because he hired a prominent experienced Democrat who worked for Bill Clinton 30 years ago?
Not a stretch at all.

Clinton's mentorship of Newsom goes back to the 2010 Democratic Primary for California governor in which Clinton made a very rare endorsement of Newsom over former governor and rival Jerry Brown. Newsom was unsuccessful and lost the primary but Clinton has been his champion ever since, because he reminds of his younger self.

Newsom spoke at the Clinton Global Initiative in 2022

Hillary Clinton, who has run for President twice and lost twice (once to the worst candidate ever in the history of the US), should not be advising anyone.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | July 19, 2024 3:31 PM |
...but Bill Clinton, who ran for President twice and won twice, should.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | July 19, 2024 3:33 PM |
Newsom purposely flew to Atlanta to the debate in anticipation of a Biden catastrophe.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | July 19, 2024 3:35 PM |
Re: Newsom and what we think he's trying to do. Let's assume he's ambitious and wants to be President.
He has read the tea leaves and knows he cannot defeat the obvious and structural and predominant Kamala Harris support bloc if Biden withdraws right now.
So he stays publicly mega-loyal to Biden 2024, probably knows Biden's candidacy is doomed or likely doomed, and prepares himself to run in 2028. This is obvious stuff. He's not being nefarious on this one at all, he's being smart.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | July 19, 2024 3:37 PM |
Following the debate, Newsom was besieged by reporters sporting a smile that can only be described as barely contained ecstasy. When he says "our nominee is Joe Biden", he appears to be about to burst out laughing.

There's only one person on the planet who has defeated Trump in a Presidential election and that is Joe Biden.
Possible decline or not, everyone else has no proven result.

Except that if Kamala is chosen NOW, he will not be chosen in 2028. They would not choose another person from San Francisco, because a loss by Harris (who will certainly lose) would be attributed to where she came from, although it would be a combination of many factors.
He can only get in if he does it now. Everything he has been planning for - and this has been going on for a year - has been to take the nomination from Joe Biden and prevent Kamala Harris from getting it.

R22, things have changed radically since then. In 2020, Biden defeated Trump nationally by 4.5 points. Polling had said it would be 8 points. Everybody knew Biden would win and Trump would lose, Everybody.
The 2024 polling is completely different. Biden has a shit approval rating (38% or so) and has been trailing Trump nationally by 1-2 points for the whole year more or less... and now the polling gap is widening to 3pts. And again, Trump outperformed his polling #s in both 2016 and in 2020, so it is very possible that the actual gap could be even worse for Biden.
What voters chose last time is utterly irrelevant to what they will choose this time.

ESPECIALLY Kamala Harris.
She couldn't even beat Joe Biden in 2020, and had to drop out of the race, after not even pulling in 10% of the vote.
Gavin Newsom has never run for President, so there's no telling how he would do against Donald Trump.
I think he's slick enough and good looking enough that women would vote for him, and men would too.
He's also a Gen X-er, so that might pull some Gen-X MAGATS away from Donald Trump, as well.
But Kamala Harris beating Donald Trump? HA! That's a laugh.

Funny, I saw his debate with Rhonda Santis as a play for VP, but mostly to boost national name recognition.

I really doubt this. If she becomes the nominee and loses, it will be seen primarily as the result of the whole weird situation that made her the nominee. Secondarily, it may be seen as "black woman can't win." I doubt anyone will be talking much about California in that situation.
And I'm not convinced she would lose, actually. But if she does, I think that will be the analysis, and people will actually be rushing toward an established white guy governor like Newsom, especially one who could say "see, told you not to replace Biden."

That's honestly such a lame argument. Trump is ghastly and awful but he's only ever run for one office. Of course nobody else has defeated him. Back when you all were screaming for Warren and Harris and Pete I was quietly thinking Joe was the guy. Now you all carry on like nobody preferred anybody else. I've never seen such a rewrite. Joe, God bless him, truly was the man of the moment. And at that moment he had the alchemy because of that moment to defeat Trump. That moment has passed and we've known it for the better part of a year. Just now everybody's thinking what a great idea to do things the hard way and sort it out at the last possible fucking minute.

Currying favor with Biden for 2028 does him no favor because
a) Biden will certainly be pushed out now
b) Biden will not be "there" in 2028.
Everything being done right now is being done with the goal of getting Biden to drop out with the condition of an open convention. And the reason is to appear loyal to Biden's delegates, who are going to be the ones choosing the nominee.
Once Biden is pushed out and an open convention is announced, the Clintons and the wealthy donors in Silicon Valley and Hollywood will coalesce around Newsom.

R12 Dee Dee Myers isn't even a productive political operator. She was Clinton's press secretary for a year, and barely ever briefed the press. They let George Stuffing-Envelopes do that fun job. She got stuck answering reporters' phone calls and occasionally lying to them about an embarrassing story. Her tenure stunk, and even she admits that.
She's had better luck as a commentator and a consultant for "The West Wing."
What she's doing running a statewide agency in one of the world's leading economies is anyone's guess.

It is another thing to come out of it with a post-ejaculation smile.
