Nikki Haley's RNC Speech Thoughts
Haley was not going to attend the RNC, but the Trump campaign called her Sunday after the assassination attempt.
I think the campaign dangled State or Defense otherwise she wouldn't have spoken. Vance brings nothing to the ticket, the white Rust Belt was already voting for Trump. Youngkin would have been the better choice for a running mate; he appeals to moderates, women, and educated suburbia. I think it boils down to whether or not the campaign thinks they need Haley's voters to win. Trump only won around 50% of primary voters, which is not good for an incumbent.
On the other hand, with the selection of Vance, MAGA is here to stay on the long haul and they don't need her or her voters. She had to give in to have a future in politics. She's young, ambitious, and most likely will run for an elected office in South Carolina.
Thoughts?

She already served in his cabinet and knows how terrible/stupid of a person he is. She was part of the 2018 mass exodus that included Kelly, Mattis, Tillerson, Sessions, McGahn, Cohn, McMaster, Nielson, Dunford, and many more.

Last night's speech didn't matter.
No one has told her yet, but she ended her political career a few weeks ago by handing over her Primary delegates to Trump against the votes of virtually every person who had supported her

R3 Yeah, but I think she loses more support/integrity by bending the knee than standing up for herself.

R4 She won DC, Vermont, and maybe another state. In the general, those will all go to Biden. I don't think a Republican has carried New England since George H.W. Bush.
I am not too familiar with how the primary delegates work, but don't most primary opponents give the nominee their primary delegates?

This is all conventional political talk, with Trump nothing matters. If he did offer her State, she better have gotten an affidavit signed by him.

I think he invited her to soften the blow back about JD's wife. If people were willing to vote for her, maybe they'll see JD's wife as being on par and 'not bad.' "See? Brown people, like Nikki, aren't the bad 'brown people."

Haley is completely devoid of any kind of kind of moral core or convictions. She would sell her kids and both kidneys if she thought it would get her higher on the ladder. In some ways, she's actually more loathsome than Trump.

Very special place in hell for her and all the others, including Vance, who know exactly what they’re putting back in office.
Unlike the Mormons who make up the MAGA cult, these people are highly educated and know damn well the threat this monster poses. Yet, the promise of a little bit of power makes them stomp on their morale compass and sell the entire world down the river.
I stupidly thought she’d do the right thing and refuse to endorse him. I was wrong, again.

Republican Ohio did nothing about the East Palestine train derailment. As for wanting Biden to help, it is to laugh. Your own Ronald Reagan said that the last words any American wants to hear are: "I'm from the government and I'm here to help." Project 2025 represents Reagan's opinion that government can't solve a problem, government IS the problem. Which begs the question, what is the republican party's stake in government if it is something in which they don't believe? We've had our answer over the course of several republican administrations. Government exists as something for republicans to pillage and destroy. Now we have a new crew who want to get even nastier about it by abusing its judiciary function to punish "enemies" and excuse and legalize corruption.
