Most people will get sick of it fairly soon because he's such a whiner. There's only so much pity and interest the majority will be able to spare this guy, especially as he wasn't actually injured, since we all have lives and problems of our own.
And only a person's momma is truly interested in their whining.

R8 I was at the barbers on Wednesday. We were discussing the Biden situation. My barber said “I predict Trump will get bumped off or have a massive heart attack, Biden will step down and we can start again from scratch” He based this on the fact that whenever one of his relatives would have a health issue and attract the attention of the whole family, another family member would die suddenly. He said “everyone is so focused on Biden’s every step that something even more shocking will happen”
My own 2c is that Trump is chaos. I was exhausted from him the day he won, depleted on J6 and now we have an assassination attempt. Another 4 years of this circus doesn’t bear thinking about. If only Dems were as brazen and amoral as Rs. They would have come out after the debate and said Biden was a stable genius, nothing to see and oh look over there - a trans cat.
And that photo of him doesn’t show bravery. It shows a lunatic standing before an American flag after escaping the most American of deaths - 20 y/o with an AR15.

I've mentioned recently, the QAnnoners are really pissed off (at Trump). And insane. They think many people dead and have been replaced by deep state fakes or robots.
And, they were super fucking pissed about Trump "pushing" the COVID vaccine. They considered it the ultimate betrayal, as they believe anyone who takes the vaccine to be no longer human.

I guess Trump smashes the individual donations record this month.

If I was a planner inside the Trump camp and I knew of top Republicans who wanted Trump to drop out or step aside for the "good of the party" or "for America" and who might be taking steps to make these things a reality, I might set up an incel patsy with horrible hair and hygiene to do this, coincidentally leaving a paper trail or manifesto of some sort that would indicate I was "inspired" by these Republicans who wanted Trump gone.
Which would turn the full force of MAGA hate on them, causing destruction, obedience, or even death.

I love seeing the post history of some of these “liberal hate mongering” types. It’s years of calling Biden a pedo, the devil, an Antichrist, a communist, a socialist, the very face of evil. Years of saying he would lead the country to hell, even more children would be snatched up for the abuse ring in the pizza parlor, he will take your guns, Mexicans will take your jobs, he will ban Christianity, the dollar will collapse (buy gold), he will cause WW3, the end of the world is coming.
And then today - “Democrat party caused this because they said Trump would be bad for the country”
Uh…..

I fully expect people to focus on whichever part of this they hate to begin with. The guy was obviously not MAGA based on this. R162 not conspiracy theories. The fact that people registered as Republican to vote against Trump was covered in mainstream media and it was linked here on DL. People were hoping to get rid of him on primary by voting for his rivals like Haley.
This kid has certainly proven to have Trump obsession, he threw away his life to get rid of him.
The other possibility is that he was old school neocon Republican that are very anti Trump, too. But given his age and the fact he had supported progressive causes before it is hardly plausible.

He courts this kind of violence and wishes it on others, often with the promise of a pardon for those who perpetrate said violence, so karma came back to bite him. Several people on my social media feeds who are suddenly wishing for a pause to denounce this kind of political violence were “oddly” radio silent when a Trump acolyte broke into Nancy Pelosi’s house and beat her husband half to death with a hammer and another one drove to upstate NY to shoot multiple black people in a supermarket. The PAC to which he donated states that its mission is to support democracy. I'm betting that January 6th, 2021 had a huge impact on this kid. He held conservative values, but he determined that Trump was too much of an extreme far-right threat.

By the time this kid turned 18 in September 2021, Donald Trump was already the incumbent Republican nominee. The kid registered as a Republican because, at the time, he identified as a Republican. Period.
So because Biden said 'Trump is the target' in an interview, or the debate(?) some nuts like VP Wannabe JD Vance are laying blame on Biden's 'rhetoric'
It's even nuttier than that. It wasn't a public event like an interview or the debate. It was a meeting with donors where Biden used the word "bullseye" to describe targeting Trump. Somehow that makes Biden responsible for the shooting, according to MAGAts. How would a 20-year-old have any idea what Biden told donors during a meeting?

I think Trump is scared shitless.
He's looking at having to be at the RNC next week in Milwaukee.
He's thinking if this happened at one of my own rallies, what will happen at the Mother of All Rallies?
I would not be surprised if he makes up some excuse along the lines of
"The Secret Service has requested that I avoid some types of gatherings. My presence would disrupt the enjoyment of everybody who is there because of the necessity of heightened security.
I love you all, and I will be there on a YUUUGE Jumbotron screen."
And here's the thing. I loathe Trump with the heat of a trillion Suns, but anybody's psyche, after the initial shock wears off and you're able to digest the reality of what happened, would be in some degree of PTSD.
Although he'd die rather than admit that.

Two conspiracy theories I have heard. The kid was picked to do this, Trump loyalist so that Trump would win. He was supposed to shoot and miss but nicked Trump's ear. Was also not supposed to be shot dead by SS. The other is the kid acted alone, but still knew it would boost Trump and didn't think he would be killed either way. That would explain the lengthy photo op Trump took while be "rescued." The face he kept sticking his head up and his fist shouting FIGHT FIGHT, to me, would indicate he was actually in fear of his life, that the shooter would continue. Look at the Reagan shooting. The got Ronnie in the car asap He did not pop up and shout "FREEDOM!" or anything, he stayed down. Three things I would like to know. The shooter's connection to Trump, if any. Where the bullet is and what type of wound does he have on his ear?

After watching multiple videos from multiple angles and listening to the boosted sound of the take-down, I have these two observations.
1] When Trump was struck in the ear, he was in full left profile, looking at the teleprompter, on his right, with his right ear, the struck ear upstage and covered by his head. You can see him wince when the teleprompter glass hits his upstage ear. If it were a bullet that caused the right ear damage, it would have had to pass through his entire head. Conclusion: flesh wound to ear, caused by shattered glass, not bullet.
2] When Trump is down, and they are about to lift him vertically for removal, he makes multiple demands for his shoes. It is obvious that they lifted him first and then got him into his shoes, as he MIRACULOUSLY rises approximately 3 inches. When fully in costume, the hair was beyond public repair, THEN he gives the defiant fist pumps. Just like Lucy always said, because she was a physical comic, KNOW YOUR PROPS! It seems that, like Dorothy, Trump knows his power comes from his shoes. Conclusion: Conman gotta con, 24/7.

Families who are survivors of mass shootings and have lost loved ones know - shooters shoot to kill.
Where was this guy’s bump stock?
This seems like some loser suffering from mental illness was put up to the task by someone who knew he couldn’t shoot straight. Probably planned the whole thing for him, told him he was part of group, probably told him Trump planned to ban assault weapons or whatever and set him up to take a bullet to the head. Why wasn’t he taken into captivity? So convenient to have a rooftop shooter who can’t say anything now.
The idea that this was an actual assassination attempt doesn’t sit well with me. Seems ludicrous. Assassins hit their target. This is like barely some Squeaky Fromme level bullshit.

If the investigation proves that the shooter was seeking revenge on paedos, do you think the media would come out and say that?
Certainly would make Trump an uncomfortable target. If the media did their job they’d blow up all the recently released Epstein files in FL. They won’t, of course. But we should run with that. lol

by Anonymous | reply 275 | July 14, 2024 1:54 PM |
Also, the shrapnel was not accounted for if this was a staged attempt that went too far, and Trump was expecting to be carted off untouched after an attempt on his life. There is reporting that his vest stopped a bullet, but there is no visual evidence that he was actually hit. None of the videos show any trump recoil, except his bending down behind the podium. If he were struck while he was in profile, the bullet could have possibly entered his arm before hitting him in the ribs of the Kevlar vest. No such visual evidence. No bruised ribs. He couldn't have been hit from the front, as he bent from the waist after his ear was hit by glass. He was not facing front.

His information has probably been blocked R271. That's the first thing the FBI would do is search through anything official they could access looking for clues about his motivation. Then they would classify anything they found on him for use in their investigation.

Kit, @ r277, I am not supporting any conspiracy theory, just analyzing data and evidence that may contradict what is being reported.
I love that the most important thing to Trump, after being bloodied for whatever reason, is that he needed his shoe lifts. And now we know why he didn't go to the Normandy cemetery in the drizzle. No conspiracy theories, just refuted raw evidence. Because you know that there will be an investigation.
Now, if I were going to suggest a conspiracy theory, Putin knows that assassination is better than poison in America. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I doubt that he was really Republican, because why would he want to kill their guru?

If it weren't situational, it would be HILARIOUS.
And r291, when you are in 3" lifts, on a good day you risk slipping out of them. When he was hit in the ear by the glass, he bent over. Bending over pulled he heels from his shoes, when he flopped over on his side, the shoes came off. Not of his own choice. Also, because it was a head, flesh wound, they did not re-coif the dead ferret. Trump was most certainly not expecting to be hit.
If you watch the video closely, you can see Trump turn his head as the bullet grazed his ear. If he hadn't moved his head, he would be dead right now. The bullet would've gone into his brain. It was dumb luck that he slightly turned his head.
I saw an interview with a witness who was in the bleachers and who made this exact point.
I looked carefully at the teleprompter on Trump's right, and I couldn't see any sign it was broken. The bullet was coming from the same side as the ear that was hit, so because his head was suddenly turned it's very conceivable it whizzed past and nicked him. HIs reaction was that of a man who has just heard a wasp go past and realises it's stung him. More "what the?" than any recoil, but if it did just nick the edge of his ear that's a reasonable response.
The microphones clearly caught the SS telling Trump the shooter was "down" before they required him to stand up, so unless there were multiple shooters he knew there was no danger in standing up.
And yes, his complete lack of interest in whether anyone else was shot is testimony to his narcissism. You might say he was too shocked as they dragged him away to think about anything else, but all the fist-pumping and so on suggests otherwise. He thought to grandstand.
If it wasn't a set-up, it will be interesting to see how he is affected both physically and mentally as the week wears on. He is an old man, remember. When the shock wears off and he realizes exactly how close he was to death, it could have physical as well as emotional impacts.

No one in seemingly good health normally wants to be told by the doc that they have cancer and are going to die and fairly soon. Like by November. But if you have cancer that is just a fact.
July 13 202 ended the best non voting election week in modern gop history. The Biden Trump fight is over. All but the whining and crying,
The news during the week is that those interviewing Biden who many think is senile were given the questions to ask in advance. Even then the WH staff had to ask the stations to edit the responses.
One Dem after another is telling Biden to drop out. The ones that want Biden to stay in the hardest are now the GOP. When the opposition wants you in the race more than your own people want you in the race you are in deep shit.
Now the political picture that will go down in history with other pictures John John saluting his dead father. The Marines raising the second flag on Iwo.
Trump looking strong and defiant with blood dripping down his face , framed with the US flag in the background, while he raises his hand in a fist. That s a 10 million dollar picture. Maybe more. It’s iconic.
The stupid people can deny this as they will. But the Biden Trump race is effectively over.
There is one chance left for th Dems , split your forces and send stonewall around the flank.
That is do something completely different. A new vigorous attacking ticket. But only the truly stupid would suggest a ticket with no black woman named Harris on it. No one could be dumb enough to think that two new white people are the answer.
You can deny this but I am right. It was a great week for Trump And a terrible terrible week for Joe
Sometimes you just have to think realistically
Bulls eye indeed. Bad timing on that comment.

And then I’d run those comments on print, radio, internet and tv ads. In their own words this is who these progressive people really are.
Joe Biden is fucked but a new ticket should start with President Harris and her hand picked VP——maybe Ky maybe Illinois can’t be two from California.
That is the one best and maybe only hope. Biden resigns for health reasons and President Harris comes out smoking and fighting with lots of energy. Even then a long shot.

Excellent point. Is there a shoot to kill policy with an active shooter? Seems like you would want to shoot to incapacitate and preserve the shooter for prosecution if you want to know the motives and who else was behind it. IF you WANT to know. A ruby red district in PA might not care to know anything that disrupts their victim narrative.
Betty Bonespurs brought this on himself, it would be helpful to realize he incited political violence and an attempted insurrection that resulted in deaths and nearly shut down the transfer of power.
I think it's tin hat territory to think Donald Juanita Trump put himself in danger in a staged attempted assassination. He's too much of a physical coward and it did result in his massive bald head being exposed. If this was staged, it would most likely be engineered by a hostile foreign government who wants to help him or kill him. depending.
And the likelihood that Melania wrote that statement is as nil, but it gives insight into how the Dump campaign plans to monetize and use this to his advantage. Thank God they'll fuck that up like they fuck up everything.

I think this is going to backfire spectacularly on the Trump campaign. No one seems to be buying it, except the cult members. It just seems like such a setup.
Talk about birth certificates? How about releasing some photos of the so-called wound? People are already combing through the video frame by frame like the Zapruder film and it’s not going to stand up to scrutiny. Seems like Trump jumped his cue, thinking the SS sniper was the shooter, etc. Plus, in this version of events, the SS have a LOT to answer for.
And they’re still clinging to the “grazed by a bullet” story - have you seen the bullets? Seems very unlikely. He would’ve lost his ear, at the least.
Anyway, I think everyone, except for Trump, is going to move on pretty quickly from these amateur theatrics which just lack the authenticity of real life. He’ll probably post something like, “…and they’re saying we did this and this…” and inadvertently admit the whole plot.
At any rate, this isn’t going to be the game changer they thought it would be. And Democrats need to submit gun legislation for a vote in both chambers to shut these whiny bitches up.

The Associated Press reports:
Two law enforcement offiials tell The Associated Press investigators believe the weapon was bought by the father of Thomas Matthew Crooks, who’s been identified as the shooter, at least six months ago. The officials said federal agents were still working to understand when and how Crooks obtained the gun and gather additional information about him as they worked to try to identify a possible motive. The investigation is focused on Crooks.
Read the full article. In a paywalled story, the Wall Street Journal is reporting that “explosive devices” were found in the shooter’s car.

Exactly. It never began, so how can it last? This isn't a 9/11 caliber event where we can wrap ourselves in the flag and sing "God Bless America." With Trump's narcissistic ego, he probably thinks they are of equal importance.
If he wins the election, don't be surprised if July 13th is declared a national holiday of "patriotic resistance," where the MAGA faithful gather to fist-pump and flash fuck you signs at the media before Trump comes out and recounts how he triumphantly dodged radical leftist democrat bullets. Of course there will be a ton of merchandise sold there with the proceeds going to the "Committee for a Third Term of Making America Great" (aka going into Trump's grifting pocket). Crazy, but tell me you couldn't see something like that happening based on all we've seen in recent years.

R399 many "leftists" just like right wingers are people with serious issues which makes them easy pawns in the fight between factions of oligarchy.
Minorities often carry lot of resent, like blacks do for whites (James Baldwin wrote about this venom still in 60s) gay people, we know it, have been bullied and ostracized, some immigrants didn't feel at home and accepted, which all makes them good pray for the elites that use them as weapon in culture wars against the working class white majority.

A high-schooler donating $15.00 to ActBlue after the July 6th, 2021 insurrection doesn't say much as everyone was fired up and emotional at that time. Even die-hard Republicans were upset at what happened and were condemning it. Of course, when the furor died down, they went back into their caves and continued to support Trump. He registered as a Republican nine months later so maybe he got caught up in Maga conspiracy sites. A lot can happen in nine months and he supposedly had mental health issues. Three years later who knows what was going on in his head?
So far, it seems to be a lone act by a mentally deranged young man who was bullied mercilessly in high school and liked to wear hunting gear to school. Maybe he was on a suicide mission and thought taking out one of the most famous men in the world would give him fame and notoriety. and also a big FU to his bullies. His motivations may have been about his own legacy and have nothing to do with personal politics. Unfortunately for him, he is now seen as the would-be assassin who couldn't shoot for shit. In other words, a loser.

Honestly, how do the Dems play this leading up to the election? Or do they try to ignore it? I don't think they can say much. To use a "set up by the right" angle, there would have to be absolute definitive proof, which there won't be - either simply because it isn't the case or because it would take a lot of time for agencies and report commissions to finalize such a finding. Dems could say it was a terrible act but shows the problem with guns and violent rhetoric, but that would only fire up the Magas who would call it "victim blaming."
I keep wondering what would have happened if Trump was killed. MAGA would have gone open season on shooting Democrats.
1. This is America in 2024, plenty of Democrats are armed.
2. Democrats don't need to display their political allegiances on everything from flags, to cars, clothes and hats to let everyone know who they support, thus making themselves less obvious targets in this scenario. MAGAs have the monopoly on that by far.
3. Trump isn't president yet and though dysfunctional, we still have rule of law. Other than overtly political places, like campaign offices, there isn't any way to know who is a Democrat or not. If they are randomly shooting people they 'think' are Democrats, they are just committing another mass shooting and will likely end up being killed by law enforcement in the process.
4. Its not politically savvy to endorse the actions of a mass killer because he/she "stood up for the cause." Any Republican running for office would instantly lose the support of sane independents and undecided voters if they even looked like they were trying to justify the actions of a murderer.
5. Vote in November and encourage everyone around you to do so. These crazy bastards don't belong in any governmental position making decisions that affect all of us. Don't let anyone tell you that this election has been decided this far out. More things will happen, good or bad, that could impact the outcome. And half the country may feel a twinge of sympathy for him right now, but a lot less than it would for somebody who doesn't constantly stir up hatred and division. In fact, most people will see this as "Chickens coming home to roost." The idea that people are suddenly going to go, “Oh, now I feel SORRY for that big, fat AUTHORITARIAN bastard who wants to take even more of my rights away - I’m going to vote for him to help the BILLIONAIRES!” is ludicrous. You’re a real cult member if you think so because you’re obviously just tuned into the cult of personality not policy.
Get a grip. All this week, all MAGA is going to do is sew division, trying to blame Democrats for this and probably threaten violence. And most Americans are going to say, “Well, you should support gun control legislation.” Which they don’t. Anyone who asks them about it will get a response like “Who dat…?” I mean, get real. The rest of the country does not love Trump the way you do. At some point, he’ll have to speak to an issue other than himself. That’s what real voters are interested in. Not the reality tv assassination.

You mean, of course, most people you know and people you listen to. Meanwhile, in the rest of the country, the polls show at least 45% to 50% support Trump. Don’t fall into the trap of thinking that the opinions from the highly curated set of sources you listen to represent the country.

Time for Biden to resign for health reasons and have President Harris take over.
Or another approach is for Dems to repeat over and over again that trump is a really bad person who should never be president again exactly what everyone has known for years. The same fucking Dems who were so sure trump would duck the debate rather than lose so bad to Joe.
Instead after the debate lines of Dems demanding that Joe must go.
Fucking idiots.

I've heard that as well, which does not help Republicans who want this to be about Biden/Democrat's "rhetoric". the media did a fantastic job of hiding Felon45's connection to the Epstein files and now their self righteous victimization will expose the one thing that has any potential to soften support for their candidate.

Here, and other social media, all America is fragmenting, blaming each other, jerking off with poisonous righteous anger.
Trump and MAGA broke America... I mean there were cracks and fissures, but grabbing pussy, submitting to Putin, racists are good people too, immigrants poison the blood.... "If you don't fight like hell, you won't have a country anymore..."

by Anonymous | reply 553 | July 15, 2024 12:18 AM |
Seeing some takes that Trump's response makes him look strong, brave. I looked at all the clips closely, he looked crazed when he was hauled upright, saying wait get my shoes, fist pumping and mouthing fight. He returned to his club/home to play golf the next day. Cracked a joke to his cart boy, the difference between himself and the shooter is he doesn't miss. Like a true narcissistic sociopath he escaped any consequence, and is crowing about it. Never mind about the people in the stands, the ones shot. The event is in his rear view mirror, save the use he can make of it.
The main reason behind all the theories of staging is that both his fans and his haters know him to be a crazy liar, pulling stunts, turning everything into photo ops and fodder for his merch. This is the same man who has lied consistently for decades, called newspapers posing as John Barron with lies he wanted planted about himself, drew hurricane paths with a sharpie on live tv, misled the country with bizarre Covid briefings, withheld classified docs, perhaps sold state secrets, allowed his daughter and son in law into the WH in order to establish ties globally. There were times he was accompanied by a "fake" Melania when she just stood at his side, fully a six inches shorter than his wife.
People suspect him of staging a shooting resulting in the deaths of two of his followers BECAUSE they know him to be capable of it. The MSM and their masters refuse to publicly acknowledge what they know. He is not normal, he is a cluster of personality disorders dominated by his narcissitic sociopathy and sadism.

I think the problem especially now is that they don't think they can win against Trump no matter who they put up. No one wants to run right now they all want to wait until 2028 because they think if they run now it will destroy their chances later on.

The same political reporters have been predicting red waves for the last several election cycles and they’ve been wrong. If Democrats and Independents show up to vote, we’ll win despite the corporations, Russia, China and the truly bigoted trying to convince us otherwise.

Hmmm, R570. One of Politico’s articles yesterday was headlined, “National polls say Biden is still in a close race with Trump after debate.” So much for Politico “calling it for Trump.”

[bold]We have lost Democracy as we know it. Biden is going to lose. The attack on Trump played into EVERY wacky, deranged, government conspiracy MAGA-ism. [/bold]Trump Attack?. Joe did it. Jill did it. Hunter did it. Obama did it. The government did it. The DNC did it. Hollywood did it. NAME your culprit and the NUTS are out there with thousands of social media posts to back your stupidity up. Biden is not coming back from this.

So many defeatists here. So reminiscent of 2022. We have a long way to go. And it helps we’re running against Trump.

It’s over kids. Biden is weak and won’t step down and Trump is a hero. There’s no way Democrats can win under these circumstances.

Yeah, R582, that’s gonna change in a hurry when the Republicans spend these next four days in Milwaukee scurrilously attacking Biden.
by Anonymous | reply 583 | July 15, 2024 4:59 AM |
He’s only pulling them for a few days or so. That’s common in this kind of situation. After the Repub Convention they’ll be back. Dems need to do a careful analysis of their situation before their convention. If it looks like a disaster, Biden must go.

It's okay to have hope, but the world and some people in the U.S. are preparing nonetheless for a second Trump term.
Neither parent was a Republican.
Well there goes that theory that the shooter was just registered as Republican because that's how he was raised.
In fact it bolsters the idea that when he was younger still in high school he gave $15 to a democratic organization and then as he became an adult, he turned Republican.

OH please, it was already like that before he was shot. Nothing has changed. It's still a toss up.

The desperation of the trolls is out of control. If it was really over, would they spend all of this effort trying to convince of it?

There was nothing wrong with this kid but a society that lets anyone have serious weapons; and a society that has allowed a forty plus year republican crime spree that puts the mafia to shame. Look at the people this country has put into office. Almost every single Republican is subnormal and actively evil. You think Trump's involvement with human trafficking began and ended with Epstein? Epstein was amateur hour. Trump kept real gangsters near him to provide his supply. I think it's so funny that people are aware of the threat Trump is, but were not aware that Romney, who was smarter, more effective, and wanted to turn the country into a theocracy and PROMISED US WAR with Russia and Iran. He was also close to being as big a liar as Trump. So NO it isn't just Trump, and we've seen the Supreme Court is even worse (because they know better). The problem is the wake up call is too late, and now the public is starting to RISE UP, which should have been predicted by all the pundits, and hysterics about "violence" in a society in which violence has always been glamorized and promoted, is just funny and of course asymmetrical since Republicans in the prime time speeches this week will make literally hundreds of threats of violence.

R591 = How sad that you think all American Democrats believe Biden is going to win. He isn't. He was losing BEFORE Saturday. For the record I live in Sacramento. Go back to your "everything is Russias fault" mindset. I do wonder WHAT your excuse will be for Biden when he loses? Will you go with the favorites and blame Russia or will you blame Democrats? God forbid you could blame the DNC or the Bidens.
