“No matter what I do, people are going to call attention to it. People have called me a ‘nepo baby.’ I’m inclined to agree,” said the 32-year-old “The Boys” star, whose parents are Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan. “I am an immensely privileged person, was able to get representation pretty early on, and that’s more than half the battle.”
One of his parents was obviously a giraffe.

This is the obvious, intelligent response. Jamie L Curtis should take notes.

He looks like Chris Colfer on happy pills.

It's a shame that he didn't get his father's looks. Instead he ended up as some kind of weird mashup of both. But he makes a great point. I hate the term nepo baby, but their true power is getting representation.

R5 - I think it goes much further than that. They also know how to negotiate better with contracts and they may not try to take advantage of them as much with their parents' fame and connections.
It's not just getting a foot in the door, it's also how you're treated once you're in the room.

That's all it takes. I have a hard time hating someone who is honest about themselves.

[quote]Emma Roberts hits out
They probably should have worded that differently.

THIS IS HOW YOU DO IT NEPO BABIES!
Now we all like him.

They're both right
Having family "in the industry" gives you an advantage. Not just the film industry but medicine, law, architecture. Having someone who can give advice on interviews, promotions, introductions etc is hugely beneficial. But there are disadvantages like "But if we give the job to Emily's daughter how will that look? Yes she's the best candidate but the perception...."
And ultimately Jack Quaid and Emma Roberts are both good at what they've been in.
Maggie Smith has two sons. One is very well known and gets cast in prestige projects. The other is a jobbing actor.

r12 she's NOT been "good" in what she's been in - she's been barely tolerable and unable to actually embody a character. She plays versions of herself, always.
And she's complaining because she KNOWS she's not good, doesn't get the parts she wants (despite her Aunt's hookup attempts) so she is trying to throw blame on anything OTHER than the fact that she isn't a good actress and she's a massive cunt to work with, not to mention physically abusive. Who would want to work with this untalented, insufferable, entitled bitch?

R2 She’s another cunt. The only reason why people think she’s “down to Earth” is cause of her granny pixie.

Emma Roberts was great in We're The Millers and the American Horror Story things, Coven in particular.
Admittedly I haven't seen about 80% of her work.

r14 Yep. JLC needs to shut up, go away and take her disgusting autogynephilic son with her.

Jack Quaid looks a lot like Brad Dourif in One Flew Over The Culoo’s Nest

He's terrific on "The Boys."

The issue is not wether any of this people are great (and Emma Roberts one note acting is definitely not great), is wether they admit the obvious thing of being given privilege in advancing their careers. Jane Fonda is a nepo baby and very talented. Jamie Leigh Curtis is less talented but still serviceable. The issue is that she and Roberts attempt to deny what is blatant nepotism and look much worse for it.

Jack has talent. Emma does not. Ironic that he's the humble one.
