Loved her work.
Can't believe she's been gone almost 20 years.

I loved that movie Moving Violations

I'm more interested in a Klaus Sperber thread. His falsetto was sublime perfection.
RIP sir, you died when I was three.

Wendie was a cute lovely dark thing though ♡♡♡♡♡
by Anonymous | reply 3 | July 7, 2024 9:12 PM |

She stole the show in Bosom Buddies.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | July 7, 2024 9:25 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 6 | July 7, 2024 9:26 PM |
She was so funny in the forgotten I WANNA HOLD YOUR HAND.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | July 7, 2024 9:35 PM |
R7 you beat me to it. That movie is so under appreciated.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | July 7, 2024 9:42 PM |
Fuck off r4.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | July 7, 2024 9:43 PM |
She was great in Bosom Buddies.

Stewardess School, appearing alongside comedy king Donny Most.
This is also a film where Sherman Hemsley receives an inflight blowjob from Judy Landers.
Highly recommended.

She was terrific in “Married with Children” as Al’s former flame.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | July 7, 2024 10:04 PM |
Loved her in her first film, "I Wanna Hold Your Hand". She and her co-star in that film, DL fave Nancy Allen, remained lifelong friends. I believe Nancy still carries on Wendie's charity which lends support to cancer patients.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | July 7, 2024 10:15 PM |
She was the highlight of "Babes" on FOX in 1990. Couldn't make this show today. Co-starred DL royalty Nedra Volz.

She hasn't worked in a while did she retire?
by Anonymous | reply 16 | July 7, 2024 10:40 PM |
I liked her in 1941.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | July 7, 2024 10:54 PM |
She was great as Rizzo in Grease.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | July 7, 2024 10:56 PM |
R16 She’s dead.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | July 7, 2024 11:41 PM |
R14 I was just on that site today and saw that yes, Nancy Allen is involved.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | July 7, 2024 11:45 PM |
Wendie remained close friends with Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson as well. Tom issued a statement when she passed.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | July 7, 2024 11:48 PM |
she's dead????
next thing you'll be telling me Vivian Vance died too!!!
by Anonymous | reply 22 | July 7, 2024 11:56 PM |
One of the stand outs as a character actor, as good as the best and better than most, you were always happy to see her pop up.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | July 8, 2024 12:05 AM |
She had a great, often ebullient presence on the screen. She connected with other actors and always made the audience like her.
And as much as I find fat activists annoying and idiotic, I am glad that we are at a point where being fat doesn’t automatically make a performer the butt of a cheap and easy joke.
Now we have Melissa McCarthy, who does use her size for humor, but in a way that isn’t humiliating.
I wish Wendie Jo Sperber had lived, not just to round out a full life, but to get some better roles that let her be funny and charming without the degradation. (MARY!)

Nicely said R24.

Dinky Hocker Shoots Smack! pops into my head every time I see her
by Anonymous | reply 26 | July 8, 2024 12:51 AM |
Isn't she the one that tried to make the Sugarbakers eat dirt?
by Anonymous | reply 27 | July 8, 2024 12:59 AM |
Not quite, R27. She was the assistant to the sexist photograph who wanted Julia to suck pearls.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | July 8, 2024 1:00 AM |
Am I the first to type Dinky Hocker Shoots Smack? IYKYK.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | July 8, 2024 1:38 AM |
Dang R26 my apologies. But SAME.

Who would play WJS in a biopic?
by Anonymous | reply 31 | July 8, 2024 1:42 AM |
Someone short, fat, and with kinky hair.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | July 8, 2024 1:43 AM |
I'm confusing Wendie Jo for Amy Linker from Square Pegs. Amy is still with us.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | July 8, 2024 1:51 AM |
R32. Call my agent!
by Anonymous | reply 34 | July 8, 2024 1:55 AM |
Who?
by Anonymous | reply 35 | July 8, 2024 2:05 AM |
R14 - Sorry, Marissa. This biopic calls for diversity. Quinta Brunson has been cast as Wendie Jo.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | July 8, 2024 2:22 AM |
Quinta has already been cast as Dainty June in Audra's Gypsy.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | July 8, 2024 2:30 AM |
She was good friends with Katey Sagal. I believe that Fox launched a short-lived sitcom featuring all fat woman and Wendie was part of that cast.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | July 8, 2024 2:35 AM |
R37 Has Sheryl Lee Ralph been cast as 'Miss Gypsy Rose Lee' yet ?
by Anonymous | reply 39 | July 8, 2024 2:37 AM |
R39 - no. But she has been cast as "Tulsa."
by Anonymous | reply 40 | July 8, 2024 2:41 AM |
Her final interview while she had stage 4 breast cancer.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | July 8, 2024 2:42 AM |
Mario Lopez and Danny Bonaduce were so hot and sexy back then. However, the show was awful - a 'male version' of 'The View' that didn't even come close to the chemistry or energy on 'The View'. Lopez was a fish out of water there - as you can see, Bonaduce had to do the whole interview while Lopez looked like he was about to shit his pants.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | July 8, 2024 2:55 AM |
I've noticed Nancy Allen get a lot of shit (especially on DL) for her acting (yeah, she's hit or miss), but I like her. She comes across as a grounded, genuinely good person.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | July 8, 2024 3:31 AM |
She was great on Will and Grace as the cleaning lady / life coach.
Like Mary Poppins except with a spoonful of whoopass!
by Anonymous | reply 45 | July 8, 2024 4:06 AM |
^ According to this link, Wendie Jo Sperber stepped into the role after they fired Cyndi Lauper.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | July 8, 2024 3:51 PM |
The show babes was produced by Sandy Gallin and Dolly Parton.
