An old (probably senile) man told him "Don't get too close, I'm not gay." That's it. That's the extent of the "bashing."
WHEN DO THE TEARS STOP?

If this isn't already a parody, it's certainly ripe for one.

Oh, bite me. Shit like this diminishes the seriousness of actual hate crimes.
If people just throw words around willy-nilly, they cease to have any meaning.

Guy on X seems not to be a Datalounger, so not steeped in sass. First thing that came into my head was the comeback, "I won't get too close, you're too ugly." Head snap and walk away.

Yes, R5, used to be that sniping at a gay man would get you a faceful of vicious comebacks that would leave your bigoted carcass gasping for breath.
Is the younger generation learning from the T to get hurt feelings and run to Twitter and GoFundMe every time some trash looks at them funny?

People worrying about this shit and not our political meltdown.

Unless there's blood or bruises, their is no bashing. Name calling can't hurt you.

Not gay bashed, but not exactly not a little harassment.

More offensive than being called fatso.

To be fair to him, I think he misunderstands the term. To me, it "gay bash" means to physically abuse someone for being gay, as in "to take a bash to the head".
Whereas I think he's assuming it refers to a "verbal bashing" - ie being vocally critical of someone's sexual orientation.
While what was said was mild, it would fall into the latter, as he was saying "I can tell you're gay and therefore I don't want you near me".
If someone said that to me, I wouldn't get upset, though. I don't think I could stop myself pulling a "WTF?" expression and saying something like: "Don't worry; you never stood a chance" (or similar). Which could then earn me a bashing in the true sense of the word. :)

This stupidity stems from the promotion of the mantra “words are violence.”

Unless he was misgendered, it's not literal violence.

You're too kind; he's not that young.

I was in Walmart to pick up birdseed at customer service (because they won’t ship it to me ) and a British woman who was waiting for something loudly informed all of us that she was moving upstate from Bridgehampton because “I’m not a fag hag. You understand me, yes? You know what I mean.”

Yes indeed, we too use "cookies." Take a look at our privacy/terms or if you just want to see the damn site without all this bureaucratic nonsense, click ACCEPT. Otherwise, you'll just have to find some other site for your pointless bitchery needs.
