R2 Wrong. This will allow gays to be fired from jobs, assaulted, lose custody of children, etc with no recourse.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | July 2, 2024 2:46 AM |
OMG seriously R5! It was sarcasm...
I know exactly what Project 2025 are going to do and it [bold]IS[/bold] about the gays. What worries me is all the gays who are completely unaware of the plans of Project 2025 and Agenda 47 and don't care to find out more. Essentially, they want to remove all LGBT protections and anti-discrimination laws, LGBT language in all official capacities so we don't exist, gay marriage back to the states and send us back into the closet. And after abortion - we are next up on their list.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | July 2, 2024 2:51 AM |
But no movement gets everything they want. I can't see anti-anti-discrimination of gay people passing.

R6 is absolutely correct.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | July 2, 2024 3:12 AM |
Then you're a goddamn fool R7.
Learn about Project 2025 (100+ hard right nasty Christian lobby groups and other villains who are directly part of the Trump agenda now and the team of staff he plans to install if re-elected) and Agenda 47 (Trump's personal policies/agenda based on Project 2025).
And just because gay marriage is codified doesn't mean it can't be overturned via various methods (a bill or SCOTUS). Project 2025 want to send it back to the states like they have with abortion. Remember what happened with abortion?
And these people are in it for the long haul and they are never giving up. Never. The thing they hate most is abortion but we gays are directly next on their list. We in danger gurl.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | July 2, 2024 3:22 AM |
I really don't want to be R10 but yes.
And what worries me is the level of cluelessness or outright disinterest from fellow gays about what Project 2025/Agenda 47 will specifically do to gays. I'm doing all I can to educate everyone around me but so few people are interested.
This is why Dems must win in November. If we don't then gays are fucked. It's not a joke.

A summary:
The opening essay of the plan, written by Heritage Project President Kevin D. Roberts, succinctly summarizes the goal of Project 2025: a promise to make America a conservative nation. To do so, the next presidential administration should focus on four “broad fronts that will decide America’s future.”
Those four fronts include:
1. Restore the family as the centerpiece of American life and protect our children.
2. Dismantle the administrative state and return self-governance to the American people.
3. Defend our nation’s sovereignty, borders, and bounty against global threats.
4. Secure our God-given individual rights to live freely—what our Constitution calls “the Blessings of Liberty.”
[bold]Number 1 on the list means gays.[/bold]
They go into great detail in the actual 920 page document about what they want to do to us. Remove rights, anti-discrimination protections, remove language in official capacity so we do not exist because the word LGBT does not exist in any official capacity, remove information about us from sources such as libraries, public services, tv etc. - and of course - overturn gay marriage.
Please read and learn more about this.

They won't go after gays they will go after trans. They can't do anything about gay marriage it is already codified law. More than I could say about abortion which was never codified.

How would that work? You can be married in some states but not in others so if you visit a state on vacation you are not married while you are there.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | July 2, 2024 4:14 AM |
R11 and r18, I think states have to recognize marriage performed in other states.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | July 2, 2024 4:17 AM |
It won't be recognized in the states which don't allow gay marriage R18. Those states which choose not to allow gay marriage will rewrite their laws to make this the case. That's what Project 2025 says.
Bottom line - those states don't want gays to live there.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | July 2, 2024 4:22 AM |

The loss of Federal recognition of gay marriage would also likely end spousal social security benefits, even if you live in a state that recognizes gay marriage. We were already through this before. The Windsor case might be overturned, leading I think to restoration of The Defense of [heterosexual] Marriage Act.

My take on this so far is that they want to go back to at least 1963. That was before Johnson’s Great Society, the civil rights movement gaining strong national momentum, and Federal control of companies that poisoned the environment. I don’t know if Medicare and Medicaid (started in 1965) are mentioned specifically, but it’s clear that MAGAs also want to weaken/dismantle/privatize them.
Some of the religious mandates might take us back to the 1700s when under the rule of European monarchs who dictated the national religion.

It’s a reality check to both sides talking about Project 2025. Both sides have the premise that once elected, Trump would be ordered by the Heritage Foundation to enact it and he would simply obey. That premise is so stupid on the face of it. It was never going to happen. It’s good that Trump snuffed the pipe dream of the Project 2025 supporters. Gary North was a leader in the Christian Nationalist movement. He said "God is indeed a homophobe", who "hates the sin and hates the sinner." He believed homosexuality should be a capital offense, to be carried out by stoning. Stoning is "biblically approved." Stones too, are plentiful and easy to find. They're "cheap", the execution is cost free. Moreover, it'll be a group activity; everyone can participate. Christian nationalists primarily hate gay men with a passion. They want us to suffer a violent death, to be obliterated from the earth. Of course, they hate lesbians and transgendered, too.

Little Miss Abigail Disney is withholding her donations until Biden steps down. MAGA is all over this.
“I had a father who died at 92, but at 81 I took away his car, and it was a very simple test for me,” “If you were driving from downtown Beverly Hills to Malibu, would you want Biden to do it at night? Would you want Trump to do it at night? If the answer is neither, you cannot have them running a $27 trillion company called the United States.”
God, what a dipshit. First of all America is not a corporation, it's not supposed to be run like a corporate pyramid where the CEO is at the top and everyone else is a subordinate. We have 3 branches of government Abigail.
Secondly, Biden is not driving around town, he had a driver Dear, Secret Service and all the trappings of the presidency, so yes would not mind Biden out and about at night. Motor skills are not the same thing as cognitive ability. But more importantly, he is surrounded by very smart advisors and leaders who do the actual work. His record proves that. So your implication that you would not trust your 91 year old father to drive a car is irrelevant because your 91 year old father only has a spoiled grand daughter to talk to.

I'm still trying to go through the Project 2025 stuff. But, do they mention anything about wanting to gut services for people with disabilities or wanting discrimination of disabled people to be decriminalized.?
I worked in case management for a home healthcare company for several years and dealt with disabled clients and their spouses, POAs, guardians etc. I have also volunteered with non-profits that aid people with disabilities since the mid 2000s. While I have met many great people and families through my past job and volunteer work, I have met some disabled people and or/their families who have their own prejudices such as homophobia, racism, sexism, anti-Semitism, anti-atheist etc. Some of those people and/or their families are huge Trump supporters and they ignored or downplayed the incident of Trump mocking the disabled reporter back in 2016. One of the people I know is a woman whose son has been disabled for many years due to a brain injury from a car accident. He functions at the level of 10 year old. This woman is the type of person who will post memes on Facebook saying that it's not ok to make fun of disabled adults and children, then she posts tons of memes calling various politicians or celebrities "retards". She still loves Trump of course. She has also posted tons of vile things about immigrants and the meme about the Border Patrol should use alligators. This woman and other Trump supporters I know who have a disabled loved one or are disabled themselves have posted on social media about various financial issues they face and they have mentioned this in some Zoom meetings or in person meetings that I have been to.
I have friend and clients from my past job who aren't Trump supporters, but they would be negatively effect if services were gutted or if discrimination was decriminalized. I do worry about them. The Trump supporters I know have become difficult empathize/sympathize with because of the vile beliefs they share with Trump despite him making fun of that disabled reported.
