I support Joe Biden and don’t think he should step down, as Gavin says here. Gavin is a fighter, and we need more of this passion in Democrats. We need to get energized and fight back.
I like Gavin Newsom’s fire and don’t get the hate for him

He was married to the cunt fiancee of Donny Jr.
That alone ensures I shall never vote for the slick, insincere, ambition-crazed grease ball.

If you wanted to see hate for Gavin you should have read datalounge when he was still mayor. Corrupt lying corporate puppet, virtually a subsidiary of Getty Oil.
Then he pulled his legally empty gay marriage stunt and became beloved who could do no wrong.

Such bitterness from 1 and 2... Normally, good-looking men are treated better by Datalounge.
I like the man, I like what he has done for our state and for the gay community. I'd drop to my knees and suck his cock on live television and consider myself lucky to do it.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | July 2, 2024 1:34 AM |
He’s sleazy, oily, and hypocritical.
Putting him on the ticket is a terrible idea. We’d instantly see ads featuring parades of drug zombies roaming the streets of the Bay Area, caravans of the homeless in LA, stats of the population streaming out of CA into red states as well as runaway, unaddressed housing costs and regulations driving businesses out of the state. Top that off with pics of him dining at the tony French Laundry while his constituents were under lockdown with reports of his kids going to a fancy private school IN PERSON while the plebes were stuck at home with their kids for over a fucking year.
OP, aren’t you in Wisconsin? This shit won’t fly in Flyoverland, which I also live in.
Gretchen Whitmer and Raphael Warnock are in a far better position to attract moderates without alienating too many progressives. They are both relatable and genuine. Newsom is a slick slice of ambition with good hair.

by Anonymous | reply 20 | July 2, 2024 2:39 AM |
Gavin Newsom rubs a lot of people the wrong way because the public persona is so overcompensating and seemingly parodic. Patrick Bateman is the name thrown around most often.
But in order to understand him you have to listen him talk about his biggest vulnerability. He is neurodivergent. Newsom is severely dyslexic. Probably also has ADHD. When you watch him talk about himself in this video, you see the person behind the mask emerge. And you begin to understand why he is the way he is. And the you see that the person he became - the insane ambition, the awful first marriage, the messy pr fiascos, the flamboyance - comes from someone who, unlike almost all successful politicians, was not someone at the top of their class like Bill Clinton or Obama, but someone who was at the bottom.
And that is why he is the only person equipped to win this election because he is the only person who can FIGHT. He will fight and get knocked down and come back for more. He is the honey badger. And unlike Biden who just released an ad which recast himself as George “I cannot tell a lie” Washington, Newsom will say exactly what is wrong with the country and what he’s going to do about it. American voters at the end of the day want somebody who can, like Clinton said, “feel your pain.” That was why they turned to Trump, because he capitalized on grievances while Hillary (and now Biden) are asking us to have faith in the people at the top to make the best decisions for them. That’s the easiest way to lose an election. You have to show people the sweatstains under your arms. Newsom has that energy which is why he smashed the recall. Yes there will be an element of ridiculousness to it, like Mr. Smith Goes to Washington if it was directed by Brian De Palma. But I can’t think of anything else that would work given the disadvantage we now see ourselves in.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | July 2, 2024 2:41 AM |
[quote] You are supporting a half-demented mumbler who can’t complete a sentence?
Not OP R9 but yeah I would support Biden over Trump because Biden won't purposely break the law, Trump will break the law every day of the week and the Supreme Court just gave him immunity from prosecution.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | July 2, 2024 2:41 AM |
The Republicans filed recall petitions while the ballots were still being counted in his election, 13. And he handily beat the first recall. Why? Because he is actually popular in California -despite what people like R11 claim. It's amazing how truth goes to the wall whenever politics get discussed. R3 claims he has "destroyed" California. Funny, but I don't feel destroyed.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | July 2, 2024 2:42 AM |
"California" seems to always get translated in wingnut speak as "pansexual nonbinary Marxist Sharia Law Pot-Infused Abortionfest 2024".
The lunatics in the CA GOP set up a recall petition every other year, because they can. They always get walloped.
Sorry trolls, most non-cuckoo GOP Californians really like him.

When the curtain drops and the Emperor proves he has no clothes, it's time for a change. Newsom can debate and he's real good at sticking up for California, like when he cleaned the floor with Sean Hannity.

[quote]Do you REALLY think he thinks it's best for the Democrats to stick with Biden after that debate?
Nobody in their right mind does R26. The whole world saw it with their own eyes. But, if Biden steps down then it has to come from Biden alone. Everyone will continue lying and rallying until that happens.
Except the deluded rusted ons who will support Biden no matter how infirm and unelectable he is and will just watch as we slowly but surely lose the election to Dump. And if Biden does step down and another candidate put forward - then the rusted ons won't vote for whoever it is out of petty spite. And once Dump wins again they will start complaining about how it was everybody else's fault.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | July 2, 2024 3:02 AM |
I can't stand Newsom but if Biden steps down, I will vote for Newsom. I wasn't going to vote for Biden. He has always been too old. Newsom will be dynamic and he has a lot of money backing him so he won't need to raise so much money and would probably win against Trump. But he reminds me of the guy in American Psycho
by Anonymous | reply 29 | July 2, 2024 3:19 AM |
R28 seems to have failed either logic or English. Or both. IF President Biden were to step down, his name would not appear on the ballot, and current supporters would back his successor (chosen at the convention) over Trump.
It's life or death. We vote AGAINST Trump, no matter who that vote goes to.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | July 2, 2024 3:21 AM |
Lets hope so R30. Totally agree with you - especially your last point.
By "rusted ons" I mean regular voters (not convention supporters) and sorry if that wasn't clear. We've seen a lot of these people shouting down everyone else on DL since the debate. The "It's Biden or no-one" crowd.
Also - fuck you about the logic/English comment.

ENTERTAINMENT LAWYER 07/01 **15**
The Payoff:
In anticipation of the call coming, the state A++ lister (#1) (Gavin Newsom) has involved the wealthy family (#2) (Getty) to help finance what needs to be done. He also has called in someone who once was the right hand person to this former city A++ lister (#3) (Willie Brown) who has a lot of experience hiding things and keeping people bought and paid for and quiet like the next in line (#4) (Kamala Harris) to the current A++ lister (#5) (Joe Biden).
At issue are a couple of things. There are of courser the threesomes with the former news anchor (#6) (Kimberly Guillfoyle) but she will keep quiet out of self interest. The tapes that have long been sought are still held by the former A- list actor (#7) (Balthazar Getty) as his permanent get out of jail free card from both parties.
The current significant other (#8) (Jennifer Lynn Siebel Newsom) of #1 has their own sordid past, but everyone thinks that is on lockdown. They would be wrong. There are men and women waiting in the wings to share all kinds of stories, including some associates of the imprisoned producer (#9) (Harvey Weinstein) who wants to trade the information for whatever kind of pardon he can get in the state of #1. With what happened in the other state, it could see him a free man. He is desperate.
Then, we can't forget about what happened when #1 was a city A++ lister and the multiple women who have been paid for years. There is the one couple (#10) (Mayor of San Francisco) though who have not gone quietly and will have plenty to say.
There is also the waitress (#11) who works at a very high end restaurant who has so far stayed quiet about the parent of her baby.

MAGA critics who bash him routinely talk like he's mayor of SF forgetting he's actually the Gov of the entire state. Homeless people, bla, bla, bla. What irks them most is that business flourishes in CA especially with more startup successes than any other state. All they want to talk about is the 0.001% of Repgs who move out of the state claiming the taxes are too high. Guess what, no one cares, CA has 40 million people, it's not our goal to have the most people in the country living here. If a few 100,000 MAGAts move out, they wont be missed. There is no fall out or damage to the robust economy. It's a laughable argument every time they spew that.

Hey R46, If the molestation rumors against Biden were reported by a legitimate publication maybe they'd carry some weight. But, the diary was "stolen" and given to a right-wing org who could have altered it. Nonetheless, when they tried to give it to Trump, he refused, and you know if it were legit, Trump would have spread it all over the news. No one would report on this diary, when it was brought to light, except for that paragon of news reportage (the Daily Mail) and even they had to couch it in terms where they couldn't guarantee the diary's validity because if they could. Several posters here have said, "He destroyed California." How, exactly? Unlike some other states, our power and water have stayed on year round. Women still have reproductive choices and rights. Our schools aren't hampered with biblical nonsense and don't-say-gay crap. Our air is cleaner than it has ever been. Roads and bridges are being repaired. Sure, it's expensive to live here -but the quality of life is so, so much better than in flyoverstan. I hear about people "fleeing" the state -but they are overwhelmingly the kind we couldn't wait to see the back of (Trumpists and religious wing nuts). Our housing shortages and high real estate values show that more and more people want to live here, and it's more than just the weather.
Gavin Newsom didn't make California great, but he has made it better. The truth doesn't fit all the right-wing propaganda about how terrible the state is. Maybe that's why the MAGAts feel the need to attack our governor at every turn.

Oh my fucking god! NO ONE is "transing" children! Doctors do not perform surgery on or give hormones to children. That is a MYTH and a LIE.
So, according to you the governor orders MEN to be placed in WOMEN's prisons and the women there rape the men?

Blind Item from CDAN:
The Payoff: In anticipation of the call coming, the state A++ lister (#1) (Gavin Newsom) has involved the wealthy family (#2) (Getty) to help finance what needs to be done. #1: Gavin Newsom
#2: Getty
#3: Willie Brown
#4: Kamala Harris
#5: Joe Biden
#6: Kimberly Guillfoyle
#7: Balthazar Getty
#8: Jennifer Lynn Siebel Newsom
#9: Harvey Weinstein
#10: Mayor of San Francisco

If Gavin Newsom runs for president, how will his record as California governor play nationally?
That record includes the nation’s highest state unemployment rate, the country’s highest gasoline prices and a 6% spike in homelessness in 2023. California’s tax burden is one of the nation’s highest. Newsom and state lawmakers recently agreed on a budget to erase a $47 billion deficit.

And what programs will be cut to achieve that R128? and does G still want reparations? And what caused the deficit?
California is now home to more than a third of the nation’s homeless population, despite Gov. Gavin Newsom’s (D-CA) $24 billion bid to solve the crisis.
After a state audit revealed California failed to track more than $24 billion in taxpayer funds targeting homelessness, Newsom has faced criticism for his leadership on the issue. The report revealed that the California Interagency Council on Homelessness, the state agency that oversees homelessness, did not provide “accurate, complete, and comparable financial and outcome information from homelessness programs.” Cal ICH consists primarily of Newsom appointees.

Fortunately, R138 like Hunter Biden neither Kim nor Donnie Jr. is considered a potential Presidential candidates.

[quote]California’s tax burden is one of the nation’s highest.
And California has one of the nations highest value of a an average family home. Anyone who bought a house in CA 20 years ago will become an instant millionaire once they sell it. And the lowest taxes on that house because unlike other states, the property tax is very low and it locks in the day you buy it. Never goes up even if your property triples in value. Haters don't understand that when they want to scream about high taxes.

R133, I feel for you, because your entire political worldview is apparently dominated by the idea that people who need basic services from the government should be denied those basic services unless they are white. Most Americans don't share your bigoted point of view, so I am sure it's lonely out there for you. My heart goes out.
But don't let your social isolation trick you into thinking your views have the support of the majority of Americans. They do not.
How do I know that? Because the party that has been pushing this sort of racialized greed as a civic virtue has lost the popular vote for president in 5 out of the last 6 elections. In the last six elections, the Democratic candidates for president have received 30 million more votes than the Republican candidates.
When your side wins, it's because there has been a fluke, an accident of history. Remember that.

Gavin Newsom is talented at spinning all negative facts about California in a way that makes one look stupid for even asking the question. What democrats don't realize, and I think Gavin might, is that at this point it doesn't matter what the actual facts are, it only matters how you say it. Americans don't want facts, because ultimately they don't know whether to believe them or not at this point and we've been lied to for so long. They only care how you come across delivering your message. That's why whining about all of Trumps lies doesn't work against him. People don't care. They like him.

I was born and raised in CA and I love Gavin. I don't care what the haters from out of state say or the MAGAts moving to Texas think either. The vast majority of CA residents love him. That's why the Repug re-call attempt went down in total flames. He's not running for president right now no matter how many times you ask him. That said, I do think he's a unique leader that would not be attractive to other parts of flyoverstand and MAGA.
He defends California admirably, is very pro-active not reactive. But I think even he knows that kind of strength and progressive ideology is not going to get him elected outside the state where someone like him is too intimidating to some and the opposite of their fake conservative values. There are just too many MAGA folk out there now. There is no way he is running for president any time soon.
