Rachel Zegler's Snow White finishes production after something like two years

One of the worst kept secrets is how they had to reshoot the film after a set photo leaked showing the seven dwarves had been replaced with diversity actors of normal heigh (save one) and multiple sexes. Disney hastily released new production art showing the dwarves looking like the ones from Walt Disney's movie (still in concept art stage, no 3d modeling).

This should go direct to streaming. It's a film nobody cares about or wanted to begin with. I would see the original 1937 film in a theater for the novelty of it, but certainly not whatever this is, or any of the awful live action remakes of the classic animated films Disney has shat out.

by Anonymousreply 1June 27, 2024 10:11 PM

Agreed—straight to streaming. And then… no more live action remakes! With the possible exception of Pete’s Dragon, which I haven’t seen, I don’t think a single one has not only NOT bested the original but more so, even come up with a convincing reason why it should exist in the first place, except of course: $$$. Please get back to original ideas, Disney!

The Diversity Woodspeople.

It was suggested that Disney had originally planned on dwarves but then received criticism from Peter Dinklage, so they changed the film.

The hastily drawn dwarfs.

Zegler is so basic and uninteresting.

by Anonymousreply 5June 27, 2024 10:28 PM

So, I'm confused. Will the film be the freakishly drawn little people or the outcasts from the Cathedral City Light Opera Company's version of "Godspell"?

by Anonymousreply 6June 27, 2024 10:33 PM

The freakishly drawn little people.

The diversity woods people were safely returned and deposited exactly how Disney found them, on a street corner in Bushwick.

by Anonymousreply 7June 27, 2024 10:36 PM

This is going to flop and Zegler will be over.

by Anonymousreply 8June 27, 2024 10:54 PM

These were the original "dwarfs." The internet exploded when this pic was released and Disney scrapped all of them and decided to do CGI.

I don’t understand what was objectionable about those dwarfs, r9.

by Anonymousreply 10June 27, 2024 11:02 PM

Peter Dinklage found them objectionable because he does not like dwarfs being offered “mythical” dwarfs roles, so Disney changed the film.

That’s just how Disney is. You can complain about the exorbitant prices if their parks, their horrific blind eye to decades of Florida swamp politics, the creative bankruptcy of their movies and Imagineering, but they are absolutely TERRIFIED someone will say they are prejudiced.

Perfect case in point: the storyline from the movie The Princess and the Frog could not be incorporated into the Splash Mountain renovation because the villain was a voodoo witch doctor. They were allowed to keep the good voodoo priestess character, but they had to rechristen her a “bayou fairy godmother.”

The ride has been a colossal failure with even Bob Iger complaining it was boring after he finished riding it.

by Anonymousreply 11June 27, 2024 11:42 PM

The other thing about that ride: the WoC imagineer in charge of it felt it was necessary to divert limited funds to retheme the entire queue. It was previously just rustic wood Frontierland shit.

Now, it has been rethemed to an ABANDONED SALT DOME MINE. The Avery Island salt mine. Site of horrific forced labor during the antebellum era. But no one at Disney could say no to the WoC they put in charge.

by Anonymousreply 12June 27, 2024 11:48 PM

[quote]it was boring after he finished riding it.

As Splash Mountain you lazily cruised along to Zip-A-De-Do-Dah while nothing much happened.

by Anonymousreply 13June 28, 2024 12:30 AM

R13, Except for my furry ass bein' kidnap'd, hog tied, and n'rly eat'n...but yeah, it was just one of doe's Zip-A-Dee-Do-Da-Dayz

by Anonymousreply 14June 28, 2024 12:38 AM

R13 except there were animatronics to watch. I think there were like 70 of them.

There are 17 now. Long stretches of the ride with “dead space” and nothing to see.

by Anonymousreply 15June 28, 2024 12:52 AM

Disney released video of the new ride so judge for yourselves. Looks good to me.

R16 because you are a simp.

by Anonymousreply 17June 28, 2024 1:01 AM

Rachel Zegler, like Cynthia Erivo doesn't know when to keep her big mouth shut. Marc Platt doesn't have great luck

by Anonymousreply 18June 28, 2024 1:05 AM

When you can’t defend your position, resort to name calling.

by Anonymousreply 19June 28, 2024 1:07 AM

That is pretty sad. They could've done so much more.

by Anonymousreply 20June 28, 2024 1:29 AM

The ride is reviewed by IGN.

Zegler is so off-putting. She was the worst thing about that terrible Hunger Games prequel. I kept praying for her to die immediately after she unleashed whatever accent she was attempting

It looks... fine.

“Uncanny Valley” is another term that’s becoming overused. Stop being so easily creeped out, people.

by Anonymousreply 28August 10, 2024 1:14 PM

Easily creeped out? If something is creepy to you, there’s not much you can do to stop it. Those CGI dwarves ARE creepy! Some things just look better as a 2D drawing than rendered in 3D

by Anonymousreply 29August 10, 2024 1:23 PM

Those dwarves (or whatever the fuck we're supposed to call them now) really do look creepy. Like they're going to murder Snow White, chop her up and eat her.

by Anonymousreply 30August 10, 2024 1:37 PM

She really needs to know when to shut up. She’s too young for that diharrhea of the mouth.

When is this coming out?

by Anonymousreply 33August 10, 2024 4:04 PM

The film should be cast with real “little people,” There can’t be that many roles for them and it’s a chance to bring visibility to that community.

by Anonymousreply 34August 10, 2024 4:09 PM

r34 it's entertainment, not a fucking social justice checklist. Fuck off.

by Anonymousreply 35August 10, 2024 8:15 PM

R34. But Peter Dinklage said NO! Case closed.

by Anonymousreply 36August 10, 2024 9:40 PM

Rachel Zegler being considered more attractive than Gal Gadot is hilarious.
