Does she sing live at all? I’ve watched several clips from different dates of the same song and there is no variation in her voice.

Dave Grohl is one of those musicians I respet but whose music I hate. The Foo Fighters are so mediocre yet they command so much respect for reasons I don't really understand.

What Dave Grohl ought to have said is: we can actually sing. There is a reason why Styrofoam Barbie doesn't perform live - she cannot sing at all. Also, her songs are the musical equivalent of ornamental plastic figurines, which is why little kids like them, but anyone with half a brain should detest them.

She is one of the least talented successful musicians ever. Not that the Foo Fighters are anywhere near great, of course, but anything is better than Styrofoam Barbie's tuneless warbling and 10-year-old level songwriting.

I think it is tacky to call out other artists. It shows vast insecurity on the person who does the attacking.

That said,

Taylor needs to be taken down several pegs. She allows her fans to bully. She is only about breaking records, not musical merit. I read she’ll surpass Madonna as the best selling female in 8-10 years, and at the same time surpass Elton and Queen. She’s not even remotely as talented as them. But, she plays the game better than anyone. She didn’t have to get fake #1s like Mariah.

Team Dave here. I see about 20 live shows a year, and I can guarantee you none of the acts I see perform lip syncing or auto-tune. I can hear the vocal mistakes, messed up lyrics and the occasional off-key or delayed vocal. The same goes for the instruments. It's not just the songs and music, it's the vibe. I sometimes have to pay exorbitant ticket prices, it had better not be faked.

I saw her show…had a very pre-recorded Disney vibe to it…it was pretty obvious the majority of the lead vocal wasn’t “live”….she probably has a lot of help from her background vocalists as one or two are likely doubling her part…as well as any pre-recorded vocal tracks. Her show felt cold and soulless which often is the case when things aren’t live….

By the time the sound gets to you in the back 40, five minutes have already passed.

Swifties in particular ain't gonna care if she's singing live, they just want to be in the same space she is no matter how vast it is.

R66 Well I think she’s more than that because she’s been around for almost 20 years. Like she has had a more consistent career 20 years in than Madonna. Madonna actually had a great 20 year mark with the Confessions album and breaking records touring but not at this level. Taylor is still young and has been way more consistent. Madonna was in her 40’s by the time she hit the 20 year mark.

But like I said, Taylor fills that void of white girl easy listening / pop rock that has been missing for so long.

She took Vanessa Carlton’s “A Thousand Miles” and turned it into 20 years of success.

Notice when she tried to be edgy and tried to be more urban and gay-oriented with “Reputation” making EDM and copying Beyoncé, she almost dropped the ball. And then she did the “Lover” album and was a blonde white girl on steroids with pink and princess dresses and balloons and was back on the horse.

Taylor's consistency is most comparable to The Beatles. Which is insane. And her numbers are only growing.

Her longest tour is 88 dates. Compare that to 99% who tour 100s of dates. Madonna went 8 years with no touring. She doesn’t play the hits, yet she had the biggest tours with less dates and not playing the hits.

Taylor Swift HAD to sell out the stadiums, as per her contracts with the venues, but she didn’t, hence her giving away thousands of tickets per show. I went to see it for free because the charity I volunteered for were given 40 double passes that day. I sat next to people who bought tickets for $20 the day of. There were banks of empty seats amidst the fans.

This is a story repeated at show after show at Reputation.

She famously failed to fill Croke Park in Dublin, which is why she is at a smaller venue this time.
