I wonder if her house has a very grand exterior. This is one of the the reasons many of my relatives in Europe live in houses that look like shitholes on the outside but are gorgeous inside. They don't want to be targets for the local criminals or the tax people.

Palm Desert is about 10-15 miles over (past Cathedral City and Rancho Mirage). It was developed more in the 70's, 80's and 90's and the housing stock shows. It's the retail center for that part of the metro area. Tons of strip malls (ugly) and one really nice upscale Beverly Hills type of street (El Paseo). Lots of retired people - not a lot of young people and very cookie-cutter suburbia.

It's also can be a convenient short cut through the mountains so it seems like a lot of OC people go over to Palm Desert area.

Goldie lives in Big Horn which is one of the wealthiest areas up the mountain and close to El Paseo.
