Goldie Hawn Says LA Is Terrible After Multiple Home Break-ins
Hollywood superstar Goldie Hawn, best known for her roles in 1969’s Cactus Flower and 1980’s Private Benjamin, revealed that she and her partner, Kurt Russell, are considering leaving Los Angeles. Hawn declared that “LA is terrible” after falling victim to several home break-ins that occurred over the course of just four months.
In a Let’s Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa, Goldie Hawn shared that she and Kurt Russell are considering moving to Palm Desert because the area is much safer than LA.
The main cause of these considerations is that, according to the Academy Award-winning actress, the LA has become terrible, revealing that she and Russell’s home was robbed while the couple was out to dinner. But that wasn’t the only instance. The home was also robbed while Hawn was inside the house, prompting Hawn and Russell to hire a guard.

I wonder if her house has a very grand exterior. This is one of the the reasons many of my relatives in Europe live in houses that look like shitholes on the outside but are gorgeous inside. They don't want to be targets for the local criminals or the tax people.

Don't they have some kind of security system around the perimeter that notifies them someone is on the property and have the house wired, as well? It seems like that should be a minimum precaution for people living in a mansion in a celebrity area. Break-in burglars are systematic and organized. I'm thinking r10 is onto something.

First off - OP says 'several' but there are 2 break-ins over 4 years. Nowhere in the article does she say that LA is terrible. That's OP trying to stir shit up.
The article says 'their new home' - when it's a fact she's had that house in Palm Desert for a long time - well over 10 years, maybe 20.
OP is an asshole for editorializing and throwing his slant on this article - but the article is crap as well.

Hawn noted that she and Russell had “a safe door” on their closets, so this suggested to her that the culprits were “very, very sophisticated.” She also revealed that they stole “a lot of my goodies, if you know what I mean.”

[Quote]She also revealed that they stole “a lot of my goodies, if you know what I mean.”
No, Goldie, I don't know what you mean. Why is she being vague? When you're coy like that, it makes me think drugs. If it was jewelry, then why did they come back about 4 months later and try to break into the same spot in the house? Thinking as a criminal, I would assume any replacement jewelry would be in a safe deposit box or a built in floor safe after the first heist. If not drugs or jewelry, Kurt's guns? We know gun nuts will definitely replace their beloved guns if they're stolen.

Security systems won't protect you:
Brown broke into Ariana Grande's Hollywood residence nearly 100 times in the period between February and September 2021. He wielded a hunting knife and threatened two members of Grande's security team, resulting in a five-year restraining order, which Brown violated. On the afternoon of September 9, Brown arrived at the house and was met by the singer’s private security. He left before returning later in the evening – about 10pm – allegedly carrying a large knife and became “combative when asked to leave.” He reportedly shouted, “I’ll f–king kill you and her”.
On June 26, 2022, Brown forcibly entered Grande’s Montecito home, disabling security systems with a screwdriver, and cutting wires to the alarm and telephone lines. Police also found a backpack with rope and duct tape. Law enforcement promptly responded and apprehended the defendant after a K-9 found him hiding in a crawl space inside the home.
Grande also had another stalker who followed a FedEx driver through security gates and hid in the hills below her home until nighttime. He rang the front door bell and demand to see the singer. When police arrived, he spat on them and was arrested.

Firstly, I agree it makes perfect sense for Goldie Hawn to announce that he has been burglarized by home invasions multiple times and then publicly disclose how the thieves did it and the location of where she’s moving to next.
Also I laughed out loud at the posters who have pointed out the real crime here has been whatever happened to Goldie’s face.

Millennials and Gen x too, although they may not stay long. They already had friends in Palm Desert and they both work remotely. They picked Palm Desert. Two of their friends are a gay millennial couple who rent a house down the street. Admittedly the population is on the old side which doesn't bother them. Summers are hotter than hell but surprisingly enjoyable because the crowds leave and everyone who stays gets very chummy. They’re all clustered together with Cathedral City and Indio et al. I don’t get the appeal. Sounds like Phoenix in CA. MAGA old snow birds. I’m not a hot weather person myself. I miss snow. And old timers who grew up revering the New Deal.

R117, The entire southern US is around the same temperature during the summer, except it's very humid, too, which makes it even worse than the Coachella Valley. Dry heat is more bearable than humid heat.

R117 Usually, didn't stars with houses in the Palm Springs area leave in the summer and go to the beach?

No. They visit in the winter, briefly. They don’t “stay” so their not really leaving. It is not a set season like the Palm Beach thing. More like a royal court moving from place to place during the year.

R124 I only meant they didn't stay in PS in the summer.

R118 - same metro area. Palm Springs is the 'first' city among the 8. It's the oldest, has the airport, and has more older homes plus mid-century modern. Better nightlife and very gay.
Palm Desert is about 10-15 miles over (past Cathedral City and Rancho Mirage). It was developed more in the 70's, 80's and 90's and the housing stock shows. It's the retail center for that part of the metro area. Tons of strip malls (ugly) and one really nice upscale Beverly Hills type of street (El Paseo). Lots of retired people - not a lot of young people and very cookie-cutter suburbia.
It's also can be a convenient short cut through the mountains so it seems like a lot of OC people go over to Palm Desert area.
Goldie lives in Big Horn which is one of the wealthiest areas up the mountain and close to El Paseo.

The comments about appearance would be funnier if she wasn't pushing 80.
