His association with Scorsese is, mostly, a mess. Leo is usually miscast for the roles and not only affects the movie as shows his limitations as an actor. Shutter Island worked, mainly because the script was great, but many other actors could have done it, probably better.

I always got the impression that he hated his twinky feminine look around the time he did Titanic, and he has tried to do away with that look ever since. Around the time Titanic was released, comedians would make jokes about him looking like a pretty lesbian, and how his love scenes with Kate weren’t believable.
