Royal Family's Rare Kate Middleton Update

Kensington Palace has made a rare statement about Catherine, Princess of Wales' whereabouts following rumors that Kate, who has been absent from the public eye since December 2023, is currently in Houston, Texas. According to reports, Kate was supposedly receiving care at The MD Anderson Cancer Center, one of the world's top cancer centers. However, Kensington Palace has officially stated that Kate is not in Houston, per the Houston Chronicle. The palace has been infamously tight-lipped about details surrounding Kate's illness amidst her leave from public duties. So, why would the royal family speak up about just one of the many rumors surrounding Kate's health crisis? It may be an attempt to protect their reputation.

According to KHOU 11 News, the rumors that Kate was in Texas seemingly originated on Reddit. One user claimed that they saw the princess while staying at the St. Regis Hotel in Houston. Interestingly, this rumor surfaced just a few weeks after a theory about Kate Middleton went viral, suggesting she may be seeking medical treatment outside of her home country. The U.K.'s healthcare system, the NHS, has been struggling with a lack resources and funding. Consequently, there has been a rise in citizens opting for private healthcare. News that Kate is not getting healthcare from the NHS would likely cause more mistrust in both the system and the royals, which could explain why Kensington Palace was so aggressive about squashing the rumor of her stay in Texas.

Poor Waitey Katie.

I read something on Twitter going back to the divorce rumors.

Supposedly, the Middletons haven't been seen with the royals since last year, and it was rumored that they are not on speaking terms because they were siding with Kate in the impending divorce.

Then came photogate, and everything went quiet again after the "cancer" announcement was made.

But now that it has been over six months since Kate has been seen in public, the divorce rumors are starting again.

by Anonymousreply 1June 13, 2024 2:39 AM

I wouldn't trust my health to NHS either

by Anonymousreply 2June 13, 2024 2:40 AM

Is this woman actually dying?

It sure does seem like she is dying and pulling out all the stops.

If she is, that would explain a number of things.

by Anonymousreply 3June 13, 2024 2:40 AM

USA is da best!!!

by Anonymousreply 4June 13, 2024 2:40 AM

All heads of state seek treatment in the USA. Not a big deal or scandal

by Anonymousreply 5June 13, 2024 2:41 AM

America has the best cancerologists in the world, maybe ever!

by Anonymousreply 6June 13, 2024 2:46 AM

The answer, cunts, is that the woman is not receiving care in Houston. Or Texas. Or the USA. Or the Western Hemisphere.

Or anywhere other than where she's been all along. At home in the UK.

by Anonymousreply 7June 13, 2024 2:46 AM

The British Royal Family is falling apart.

They're cursed by Doria.

You don't even hear anything positive about them in the news any more, because it's all bad news coming from Buckingham Palace.

I fear this is the end for them.

by Anonymousreply 8June 13, 2024 2:58 AM

sad last days...

by Anonymousreply 9June 13, 2024 3:10 AM

The UK has private hospitals, r2. Obviously you don't know anything.

by Anonymousreply 10June 13, 2024 3:11 AM

Have you alerted the British Royal Family about their imminent demise, R8? You should call Buckingham Palace immediately on +44 303 123 7300 and ask to speak to The King. It’s your public duty, being as well-informed as you clearly are.

Good luck! And please report back here with how you get on.

by Anonymousreply 11June 13, 2024 3:12 AM

God Bless the Princess of Wales.

by Anonymousreply 12June 13, 2024 3:13 AM

Does the throne go to the Duchess of Sussex if Kate dies?

by Anonymousreply 13June 13, 2024 3:15 AM

I don’t see why she would have to leave the UK to get the very best treatment available. Cancer treatment protocols, new technologies and theories are shared. Any specialist could be flown in from anywhere in the world. This family is rich, has the money and contacts to import any doctor or treatment necessary.

Plus, I imagine she would want to remain close to home and her children, especially if things are dire.

by Anonymousreply 14June 13, 2024 3:17 AM

[quote] Does the throne go to the Duchess of Sussex if Kate dies?

Naturally.

by Anonymousreply 15June 13, 2024 3:23 AM

What bullshit! Nobody with a brain thinks she's using the NHS.

by Anonymousreply 17June 13, 2024 3:42 AM

If she's really at MD Anderson then she's in a bad way, much worse than anyone has let on.

Houston has a world-class medical center. Seriously.

by Anonymousreply 30June 13, 2024 4:39 AM

I would believe it. Dr. Now is in Houston.

A friend of mine lives in north Florida (Jacksonville, I think) and there's a Mayo Clinic there.

by Anonymousreply 31June 13, 2024 5:05 AM

The only reason she would be likely to be outside the UK is if it IS quite serious, there was a drug trial going on somewhere that her doctors thought could be beneficial, and they couldn't arrange for her be part of the trial from Britain.

It is acknowledged that the US has some of the world's leading cancer centres, but there are brilliant oncologists and well equipped facilities in most developed countries.

by Anonymousreply 32June 13, 2024 5:12 AM

MDACC is one of the world's leading cancer research and treatment centers. Wouldn't be surprised. People from all over the world come here for the latest treatments.

by Anonymousreply 33June 13, 2024 5:14 AM

In my brutal honesty, I think she died a while ago. With the UK already in down-spiraling morale, the Queen just passing, Charles sick — Catherine dying would be just a little too much for their people to witness. I hope I'm wrong, but the palace's weak messaging and just how fake the cancer announcement video was. That thing looks like an AI-generated prescription TV commercial.

by Anonymousreply 34June 13, 2024 5:25 AM

by Anonymousreply 35June 13, 2024 5:53 AM

You don’t give a shit, R35, but that didn’t stop you from reading and replying to this thread.

by Anonymousreply 36June 13, 2024 6:28 AM

Could r35 and r36 explain their relevance to the rest of us confused, if not problematic?

by Anonymousreply 37June 13, 2024 6:45 AM

It really does make sense for her to come to the USA for treatment, but this just adds to the suspicion that it really is advanced. With the initial statement, I thought they were just being cautious with the chemo. (IOW, they thought they got it all, but were giving some chemo in case they didn't.) But if she's needing to seek state-of-the-art treatment, I'm guessing it was more than that. The continued extreme secrecy just adds to that suspicion. Very sad.

by Anonymousreply 38June 13, 2024 7:01 AM

Of ALL THE PLACES IN THE U.S A. ,she chose the most *backward* state in the Union, even though the Houston Medical campus could not offer The Princess of Wales top notch medical care, if even while cancer-ridden?

by Anonymousreply 39June 13, 2024 7:14 AM

Jesus this sounds super serious. Best to her.

by Anonymousreply 40June 13, 2024 7:15 AM

I've said this from the beginning. The woman is terminal. I see it in her face in the BBC-produced video. My mother died of cancer.

If this were minor and total recovery were expected, there wouldn't have been such a delay and vagueness in announcing.

Also, "preventive chemotherapy" is bullshit. I'm amazed at the number of media outlets that are just parroting the royal spin.

If you're getting chemo for abdominal cancer, you're in deep trouble.

by Anonymousreply 41June 13, 2024 7:18 AM

Did Diana's gayish brother put a sneaky curse on the royal family at Di's funeral like Helena Cassadine did to Luke and Laura at their wedding?

Helena's curse definitely seems to have worked, looking back over 40+ years! It has NOT been smooth sailing, to say the very least.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 42June 13, 2024 7:24 AM

r41, the term "preventative chemo" is bull, but they do sometimes give some chemo to people who have had cancer removed surgically in case they didn't get all of the original mass or there were micro metastases already elsewhere that were too small to show up on imaging and that really helps in those cases, so some thought that's what they were getting at with that made up terminology. That's probably what they WANTED us to think with that statement anyway. The reality, as you said, is likely much different given their secrecy and the original video. This is advanced abdominal cancer and that's really, really sad.

by Anonymousreply 43June 13, 2024 7:31 AM

How could advanced abdominal cancer possibly occur in one of the best taken care of women in our universe? I'm sorry, I haven't left enough hypen families behind.

by Anonymousreply 44June 13, 2024 7:45 AM

Will Meghan be invited to the funeral?

It would be very odd if she and Harry weren't invited.

Talk about a glaring omission!

by Anonymousreply 45June 13, 2024 7:46 AM

R39, have you ever been to Houston? People from all over the globe come to MD Anderson, the rich and privileged alongside ordinary patients, many of them critically ill. If the best oncologists in the UK threw everything they had at Kate’s cancer and nothing worked, then a trip to Houston makes sense. She will have access to some of the top specialists in the entire world as well as treatments and clinical trials that aren’t available elsewhere.

by Anonymousreply 46June 13, 2024 7:47 AM

This is not true. Check the official Royal Family website. No statements about Catherine.

by Anonymousreply 47June 13, 2024 7:58 AM

I've been in healthcare over 35 years. Critical Care. One of my friends is a Dr. at MD Anderson. Houston has world class hospitals. MDA and Sloan Kettering are two of the best in the world. And MDA is much more PRIVATE than Sloan in New York.

Yes she is at MDA.

MANY famous people have gone to Houston for cancer treatment. MDA is the most experienced with proton therapy and definitely for Cervical cancer. Pancreatic cancer is a particular MDA area of expertise.

by Anonymousreply 48June 13, 2024 8:05 AM

Are you confirming that someone you know at that hospital said Kate is in Houston, R48?

If so, the British Royal Family are nothing but goddamned liars.

Why do they keep doing this?

by Anonymousreply 49June 13, 2024 8:09 AM

Yes from someone I know.

by Anonymousreply 50June 13, 2024 8:13 AM

Sorry R47 but R48 just proved that you and your link are full of shit.

Confirmed liars.

by Anonymousreply 51June 13, 2024 8:19 AM

While I wouldn't necessarily trust Buckingham Palace statements, they wouldn't make an explicit and fairly easily disprovable lie like 'She isn't in Houston' if she was in fact in Houston.

by Anonymousreply 52June 13, 2024 8:30 AM

The the "thislist" of the OP's origin should make us a little speculative, no?

by Anonymousreply 53June 13, 2024 8:34 AM

I don't have a good feeling about Kate's chances. I admit I have nothing to back that up - we have no idea what type of cancer she has, how treatable it is, how early it was caught. It's just my gut instinct. I had a bad feeling as soon as it was announced she was in hospital for abdominal surgery at the beginning of the year.

by Anonymousreply 54June 13, 2024 8:36 AM

Buckingham Palace can maintain plausible deniability as it’s unlikely that photos of Kate in Houston will surface, nor would anyone from MD Anderson speak on the record in an official capacity about a patient undergoing treatment there.

by Anonymousreply 55June 13, 2024 8:39 AM

[quote]If she's really at MD Anderson then she's in a bad way, much worse than anyone has let on.

Agreed; I hope she's doing better but the continued radio silence likely does not bode well

by Anonymousreply 56June 13, 2024 8:42 AM

The American paps would be straight on to this if she was in the US.

by Anonymousreply 57June 13, 2024 8:43 AM

I feel bad for her kids, that they should go through what their father and uncle went through is very sad ☹️

by Anonymousreply 58June 13, 2024 8:43 AM

Are you brain dead, R57?

R48 has already confirmed that she's at the Houston hospital.

What in the fuck is wrong with you?

You're just helping to perpetuate the lie that Kate is fine.

Clearly, she's not fine and the British Royal Family and their minders are lying to the public. AGAIN.

Someone needs to just out them already, and cut through their bullshit.

by Anonymousreply 59June 13, 2024 8:46 AM

Has anyone seen her mother recently? Kate would not be in Houston by herself.

by Anonymousreply 60June 13, 2024 8:49 AM

One of the many shitty things about cancer and undergoing cancer treatment is that it can dramatically alter your appearance. It’s possible that Kate is not recognizable right now. Also these hospitals have VIP access, underground tunnels, etc. so how would a photographer get a shot of her?

by Anonymousreply 61June 13, 2024 8:49 AM

Now this article in People Magazine makes sense:

[quote] King Charles and Prince William Cancel All Their Royal Outings This Week

[quote] The sovereign and his son might not be seen as regularly until after July 4

King Charles and Prince William are changing their calendars amid a political shakeup in the U.K.

The King, 75, and Prince of Wales, 41, will no longer be making engagements slated for the rest of the week after Prime Minister Rishi Sunak called for a surprise general election on July 4.

Charles had an outing planned for May 23 and two more on May 24. The palace hopes to reschedule the stops. William also had a royal outing scheduled for this week that was abruptly canceled. The royal family will continue to postpone engagements "which may appear to divert attention or distract from the election campaign," Buckingham Palace said in a statement on May 22.

The canceled outings come amid Charles' recent return to public-facing duties amid his cancer treatment. William's wife Kate Middleton has also taken a step back from public outings amid her cancer diagnosis.

While members of the royal family historically do not get involved in politics, they do shift their schedules amid elections. Adjusting the schedule during election campaigns is standard practice. The palace aims to ensure the public's attention remains on the election and the key issues it presents.

“According to KHOU 11 News”? Based on a rumor? Are you people kidding?

Of course now the death watchers have emerged. It can only be a matter of time before the colostomy bag and wig obsessives show up. There’s already been a suggestion about her last appearance being a deep fake. Someone’s mother died of cancer so naturally they are oncology experts.

Grow the fuck up and leave the woman alone - she has no relevance to your sad little lives.

by Anonymousreply 63June 13, 2024 9:00 AM

I may be in a minority, but I haven't read most of this thread because the idea of Catherine, the PoW dying young is too much.

I also have a hard time understanding how medical professionals in Houston would further jeopardize their standing in their community by blatantly violating HIPAA standards. Makes little to no sense. But here we are...

by Anonymousreply 64June 13, 2024 9:06 AM

[quote] I also have a hard time understanding how medical professionals in Houston would further jeopardize their standing in their community by blatantly violating HIPAA standards.

They didn't violate anything.

Reporting that someone was seen at your workplace is not violating a patient's confidentiality. That only applies to medical records.

Not only that, she's not even an American, so HIPAA doesn't even apply to Kate.

by Anonymousreply 65June 13, 2024 9:10 AM

R63, I posted at R61 as well as upthread. I do not have a morbid interest in Kate Middleton’s cancer. I am however a cancer survivor myself and know first-hand what a shitshow it is. With this in mind I hope that if Kate is in fact receiving treatment in Houston then she’s in the best possible hands right now. I’m not a royal family obsessive. I’m just a regular person expressing concern and empathy for another cancer sufferer.

by Anonymousreply 66June 13, 2024 9:13 AM

[QUOTE]Reporting that someone was seen at your workplace is not violating a patient's confidentiality.

Are you sure about that? Healthcare practitioners are bound. Maybe you're thinking about janitors or maintenance people?

by Anonymousreply 67June 13, 2024 9:20 AM

HIPAA applies to all patients of covered entities in the US whether or not the patients are US citizens and all employees of the covered entity are bound by HIPAA. Fellow patients are not bound by HIPAA.

by Anonymousreply 68June 13, 2024 11:53 AM

I don't think there is anyone with a brain who doesn't doubt her cancer is terminal - and her video back in December was her 'official' goodbye to the public. I doubt she makes it to the end of this year.

by Anonymousreply 69June 13, 2024 11:54 AM

R65

I highly doubt that a foreign patient is not protected by HIPAA. Think of all the famous patients that come to MD Anderson, Sloan Kettering, Johns Hopkins, Mayo, Cleveland, etc, ad nauseum, that the general public doesn’t know about.

by Anonymousreply 70June 13, 2024 12:03 PM

Catherine really will break the internet upon her return to public life. Should be great fun.

by Anonymousreply 71June 13, 2024 12:10 PM

R39 your comment makes no sense. Your also dead wrong about Houston. While Texas has a maga governor, Houston has a Democrat as mayor, is very cosmopolitan and has very, very good hospitals. You may hate Texas but you're still wrong and sound quite uninformed.

by Anonymousreply 74June 13, 2024 12:23 PM

While the health problems of the royal family have certainly created sympathy for them all over the world (except at Datalounge, of course) I think in the long run it just reinforces the idea that the royal family post Queen Elizabeth are superfluous.

Think of how often we saw photos of William and Kate — and secondarily Charles and Camilla — during Elizabeth’s last years. Now health problems keep them out of the daily headlines and weekly photo magazines just as the disaster of Brexit has been setting in, and there is nothing King Charles or Prince William can do about that.

This year, Brits have learned (if they hadn’t already) that they don’t need the diversion or glamor of the royals to enliven their Sunday supplements or spur tourism (the tourists keep coming). Charles and Wills are going about their business and no one really cares. It’s over, it died with Queen Elizabeth. Now they ‘re all just well-dressed functionaries like every other royal family in Europe.

by Anonymousreply 77June 13, 2024 2:13 PM

[quote] The royal family was suspiciously quick to denounce a rumor on Kate Middleton's whereabouts with a statement that raised more questions than it answered.

I mean the last time they tried silence twitter and Datalounge thought she was locked up in a dungeon with William beating her into signing divorce papers because of a photoshop.

by Anonymousreply 78June 13, 2024 2:21 PM

Kate has been extremely ill and has been thru hell. But she will make it. Kate and stress don't mix, I've been there and she was obviously stressed which could have caused the cancer in the first place.. The stress really makes cancer roar. It will take time for her to get better but she will get there. I don't think it matters where she is being treated as long as she gets better. Yes, she has the best health care that money can buy but is there a single person on earth that wouldn't get the best treatment they could if they had the money? For those that pray, prayers for her will always help.

by Anonymousreply 79June 13, 2024 2:26 PM

[quote]Are you brain dead, [R57]?

[quote][R48] has already confirmed that she's at the Houston hospital.

Oh, well if some random anonymous Datalounger said so, it's undeniably true! How much more proof could one want?

by Anonymousreply 80June 13, 2024 2:36 PM

[quote]MDACC is one of the world's leading cancer research and treatment centers.

Yes, it is, R33. My best friend's 45-yr old son had a rare form of lymphoma, and was treated in my city's oncology hospital, but after a 4-year remission he suddenly started going down really quickly. They took him to MD Anderson, and they said if the son had come there earlier they could have had a better outcome. He died less than a year later.

The other case is a famous pastor in Houston. He was diagnosed with a terrible form of pituitary cancer. After surgery he fell into a coma, and his doctor told the family that Pastor Anderson (no relation to M.D.) had two hours to live--maybe two.

He recovered and 9 years later is preaching still today.

by Anonymousreply 81June 13, 2024 3:06 PM

It’s so silly but I am worried for her. I really believed the talk about colostomy bags or hair falling out and not wanting to be seen less than perfect but she’d appear in April or May and be back. It’s mid-June. Trooping the Colour is in two days. It would be so great….

by Anonymousreply 82June 13, 2024 3:29 PM

I think you'll survive R82.

by Anonymousreply 83June 13, 2024 3:53 PM

[quote] Not only that, she's not even an American, so HIPAA doesn't even apply to Kate.

Agree that this sounds not true.

by Anonymousreply 84June 13, 2024 3:55 PM

After people went apeshit over that picture of a tall brunette woman sauntering and smiling, convinced it was Kate, I don't put much stock in some anonymous Reddit post.

The medical term for her treatment is 'adjuvant' chemotherapy.

"When we say the term ‘preventive,’ it sounds light and fluffy, but she may be going through a lot this time,” Narula notes. “This is not a walk in the park,” said Narula. Kate’s age might help her better tolerate treatment but that’s not a sure thing.

by Anonymousreply 85June 13, 2024 3:56 PM

R14, MDACC does not fly doctors to patients. I used to fuck a Kiwi researcher who worked there and the stuff they are doing is cutting edge. You have to be on site if you're a patient.

I had a female friend in the UK who died of breast cancer last year. She'd fought it for years. I can't help but wonder if she would have had a better chance of survival if she could have come here to Houston for treatment. I guess her insurance didn't cover it and she probably couldn't afford to come on her own.

by Anonymousreply 86June 13, 2024 4:01 PM

This wouldn’t be surprising at all. I think it all depends on what type of cancer she has. If the leading experts for that cancer are here, she’s traveling here. If they’re in Germany, she’s traveling there. I would be there are no expenses spared in this scenario. She’s going to where the foremost experts are.

by Anonymousreply 87June 13, 2024 4:24 PM

I'm betting it's Ovarian Cancer. It's notoriously aggressive, hard to treat , and also has the shitty habit of recurring, once the patient has been "cured". Other forms of gynecological cancers have a better chance for a decent prognosis.

Also MD Anderson is the place everyone goes if they want to get the absolute BEST and latest treatment for any Cancer. Many patients who are facing tough diagnoses go there.

Sad.

HIPAA protects every patient in America seeking medical treatment - it does not matter where the patient is from.

by Anonymousreply 101June 13, 2024 8:35 PM

I wish her well and think she should go wherever she has the most chances and better treatment.

That said, this only confirms their communications office is as ill as she. Blunder after blunder.

I also think with the sullen baldy one now the only making most appearances , and not that many, the British Monarchy maybe in danger of their irrelevancy becoming clear. I think the moment he jumped up a bus at that wedding last week clinched

by Anonymousreply 102June 13, 2024 8:36 PM

“This” confirms “what”, R102? Idiot OP posts a link to a rumor that has since been proved false and a bunch of hysterics get excited because they think that there’s a genuine dying princess in Houston because of course the only medical care worth having is in Houston?

Then R48 confirms because he works in healthcare and has a friend who works at said hospital. Oh well, it must be true!

As far as your final sentence - it’s unintelligible. But you must be used to that.

She looks so old in that picture!

And fatter.

by Anonymousreply 107June 13, 2024 8:55 PM

R103, it actually hasn’t been proven wrong. Just because the palace has denied it, doesn’t mean shit tbh. She’s probably not there now, maybe she finished her treatment, but I absolutely do not believe them.

by Anonymousreply 108June 13, 2024 8:56 PM

I am an American and not invested in the BRF, but this is indeed sad. She has been MIA for so long, I fear her cancer was advanced when discovered. She probably is on the way out.

by Anonymousreply 113June 13, 2024 9:16 PM

It's obvious that her illness is a lot more severe than the BRF is admitting.

It's a bit sad that her children may lose their mother at a younger age than their father lost his.

Hope she recovers.

by Anonymousreply 114June 13, 2024 9:29 PM

Dana Farber and Sloan Kettering would like a word with you R88.

by Anonymousreply 115June 13, 2024 9:32 PM

I agree R114 she is a lot sicker than the BRF let on. I hope she makes it too. It's so sad when a mother has small kids and dies. She is only 41.

by Anonymousreply 116June 13, 2024 9:33 PM

R103 why the sulks? You sound angry.

by Anonymousreply 117June 13, 2024 9:34 PM

While Kate gets a lot of hate on DL, she really isn't all that bad and a lot better than many women Will could have chosen.

As far as it goes, she's done her job reasonably well. While she doesn't have the flair Diana had in her later years, she's far from beige and boring. All things considered, she's worked out better than many other royal spouses - probably #3 on the list after Diana and Sophie and miles ahead of Fergie, Camilla, or you know who.

Kate is in Texas holding meeting with John F. Kennedy, Jr. After Trump is elected, he's going to pardon himself and then fire his Vice President and select Ivanka has his VP. She will be divorcing Jared to marry JFK Jr. , who will come out of hiding and prepare to be First Gentleman to his much younger wife, the Future President Ivanka Trump Kennedy. Jared will Marry Prince MBC and become Queen of Saudi Arabia and finally bring peace to the Middle East.

by Anonymousreply 120June 13, 2024 9:45 PM

by Anonymousreply 121June 13, 2024 9:54 PM

R100 The same Palace that denied she had cancer in the first place?

by Anonymousreply 122June 13, 2024 10:05 PM

R121 I doubt they will make it public if she died in the US. They will fly her body back to the UK and say she died 'at home' with her family surrounding her.

by Anonymousreply 123June 13, 2024 10:07 PM

I truly hope she’s ok. She’s handled this horrible time in her life with great dignity. the video she was bullied into making after that stupid photo gate nonsense was very well done. She should take as much time as she needs to heal and get past this trauma. The UK will not crumble if she misses a few ribbon cuttings.

by Anonymousreply 124June 13, 2024 10:10 PM

Yes, that sounds completely plausible, R124.

by Anonymousreply 125June 13, 2024 10:16 PM

R65 you’re wrong. HIPAA applies to everyone working in a medical environment and it has nothing to do with whether the patient is being treated by you. There’s a famous case where two doctors were reported after they were overheard talking about a patient by name on a plane and reviewing patient’s records on laptop. Another physician on board overheard them, took pic of laptop screen and reported them. They were fined a huge amount. And Kate being from the UK doesn’t mean she’s not protected by HIPAA.

by Anonymousreply 126June 13, 2024 10:18 PM

I'm sorry for the threadjack here, but there's a remarkable documentary series on Amazon right now about people dying of terminal cancer and advocating for medical aid in dying. Well, r135, those rumors came from somewhere. We haven’t heard anything about her being at the Mayo Clinic or Sloan Kettering. The rumors are pretty specific.

I’m inclined to think maybe they consulted, or maybe she did make a trip there, but I don’t think she’s camped out there.

by Anonymousreply 140June 13, 2024 11:08 PM

The Palace denied cancer because at the time she had gone into and released from hospital for abdominal surgery, that wasn’t identified as cancerous.

It was only during subsequent tests that it was confirmed that cancer had been present (in the removed tissue, presumably) - this was confirmed by the Princess in her video statement some time later.

But don’t let the chronology get in the way of a good story, R140. BURN that, you twit.

by Anonymousreply 142June 13, 2024 11:26 PM

Houston has the world’s largest Medical Center. MD Anderson tops the list of best hospitals for cancer care.

My mother was treated there years ago. Back then, you had to “know” someone to be admitted. The CFO was one of my clients, so there she went. She had a very rare lymphoma — doctors said she had an about a year to live.

They are well known for their research, and our family agreed to an experimental protocol. The chemo was of course brutal on her. That shit is so toxic; the nurses had to wear special gloves while handling the plastic bags filled with the chemo/poison.

I still live in Houston and have no idea if Princess Catherine is here. If she is, I tend to agree she is in bad shape. I hope she recovers, divorces her schmo of a husband, and lives to see her children grow up.

Oh, so that's now the take on Markle by her stans.

She was a C-List, cable TV actor on little-watched show, mid-30s, divorced, on the make, with not many moves left.

Oh, yes, that's an actual career and identity. She set her cap on Harry and won him; all admirable things.

She owes her current position, such as it is, to marrying onto the BRF, the very family she cashed-in on.

r179, you lost the argument at "Waitey Katy".

Tsk, tsk, the self-described feminist Markle wouldn't approve. But, oh, wait, she does.

She herself used those words on her Oprah interview. I knew right there and then, she's a Mean Girl, the very antithesis of "the sisterhood" and enlightened feminism she so falsely espouses.

If you know origin of those two words, you'd know they were coined by the sexist, cruel, mysogynistic British tabloids to denigrate a woman who was making her own choices about her life, just like Markle was doing.

And isn't that essence of feminism?

It is, and as such, you'd think Markle, and you, would never use them. But you both did.

Saying them was deliberate on Markle's part. She knows the cruelty of that nickname and she wasn't about to pass-up the chance to twist the knife into Kate and remind the world of them on world-wide TV.

I truly believe Markle doing that is one of the main reasons William and Kate won't forgive her.

Markle is a phony; one of the highest degree because she uses causes in service to herself, not for the greater good.

I can't stand her, and I'm a woman of color myself.

by Anonymousreply 189June 14, 2024 2:51 AM

And, R179? She was a pretty, comfortably off graduate of a prestigious university - St Andrews (not that you’ll have heard of it as it’s not Harvard) - having fun in nightclubs with most of those pics including her future husband. Who wouldn’t?

And if you think that she’s a “chav” (a term that you surely picked up on Celebitchy) then you know nothing about the UK. But I think that that has already been established.

All that you know about is your sad little life in your dull little town, waiting for Mr Right to put a ring on it, eating too much and chugging down your boxed wine and jumbo bottles of Pepsi.

No wonder the Princess of Wales triggers you! She’s everything that you’re not, and thank god for that.

Oh R194 I didn't know that. She would have married well. William told her to wait and that he would eventually marry her. They broke up for a while. by Anonymousreply 195June 14, 2024 4:29 AM

[quote] My question is: why hasn't Charles lost his hair from chemo? He looks pretty good and was back at work in what, three months?

He’s back at work, but is still receiving treatment.according to the Daily Mail’s youtube show Palace Confidential, he was at an awards ceremony for his charity foundation earlier this week, having received treatment earlier that day.

Interestingly, the same show speculated that Kate may make an appearance on the balcony for Trooping the Colour on Saturday. Neither Buckingham Palace nor Kate& William’s office will confirm or deny, which is interesting because they have firmly shut down similar rumours in the past few months.. If she does appear, it will be headline news, but she may just be waiting to see how she feels on the day.

In any case, I think the fact that journalists are discussing the possibility indicates that she is not quite at death’s door in Texas. I don’t think the media would necessarily report if she was desperately seeking miracle cures, but I think major newspapers like the Mail would certainly know about it, and certainly wouldn’t be speculating on her making a public appearance.

by Anonymousreply 196June 14, 2024 4:39 AM

R194 the Middletons sold the business after which it was liquidated.

by Anonymousreply 197June 14, 2024 5:26 AM

This is a rumor that's both odd and understandable.

On one hand, any cancer therapy anywhere in the world could imported to the UK and Buckingham Palace. There's no shortage of cash to facilitate that. In the '40s, America's foremost cancer expert was flown to Argentina to operate on Evita. In 1989, Gilda Radner was receiving chemo at home in Connecticut for her advanced ovarian cancer, facilitated by MSK. And that was before the internet and a world of up-to-the-minute shared knowledge.

The royal family could have a proton therapy machine and attending staff flown in to treat Kate, if necessary.

On the other hand, there are many signifiers that this is a grave situation. I wrote at R41 about seeing in her face that she's terminal. I saw this in my mother's cancer experience. She and my father were ridiculously optimistic over seven years of setbacks (and she was, ironically, treated unsuccessfully and sent home from MD Anderson). They were still optimistic. But at a point, the light went out of her eyes and pre-emptive grief set in. That's what I saw in Kate's BBC-produced announcement video.

I hope I'm wrong.

by Anonymousreply 198June 14, 2024 5:31 AM

My guess is that her prognosis is good (as she seemed to indicate in the video she was sadly forced to make) and Charles and the Palace are allowing her to go through all the stages of treatment and recovery privately, for her sake and the sake of the kids. William learned the hard way that the press has no boundaries (or patience) and he's likely very protective of his wife during this difficult time and really wants her to have the rest and privacy she needs in enduring all of this while also raising their young kids.

Kate seems like a very empathetic person and it was thoughtful of her to mention in the video that there are many people going through the same thing she is. Her heart seemed heavy for them.

by Anonymousreply 199June 14, 2024 5:36 AM

[quote]Kate seems like a very empathetic person and it was thoughtful of her to mention in the video that there are many people going through the same thing she is.

These are literally just words.

Everyday people everywhere get cancer and still have to work and pay the bills. They get radiation and chemo before or after work or on the weekends. They have to haul out of bed no matter how sick and exhausted they feel, throw up in the workplace bathroom if necessary, and return to their job.

They don't get to take a year off from ribbon-cutting ceremonies, which involves first-class transport with a medical team if desired.

She obviously has empathy for others, and not punching a time clock in her work doesn't negate that.

by Anonymousreply 201June 14, 2024 5:51 AM

One thing I learned during my cancer ordeal was how counter-productive it was to compare my diagnosis and personal situation with anyone else. When I was feeling terrible my oncologist told me that she had patients who would sell everything they own to switch places with me. That really helped me gain a different perspective. The Princess of Wales has access to the best of everything-- everything money can buy-- but she still has to live with the fear of not knowing whether she will be around to see her children grow up. Cancer, like all serious illnesses, is a great leveler in that regard. I don't care if Kate Middleton doesn't have a regular job. Having cancer completely sucks no matter who you are or what you do for a living.

by Anonymousreply 202June 14, 2024 5:57 AM

Everyone hears that they should never compare.

But they do it anyway.

Including people with cancer who have to report to work on a daily basis.

[QUOTE]I wrote at [R41] about seeing in her face that she's terminal

If you could possibly tell us about your experience or expertise, please? Other than trying to hoarde this matter again, repeatedly?

by Anonymousreply 204June 14, 2024 6:16 AM

I told you about my experience, R204, in the same post you're quoting.

by Anonymousreply 205June 14, 2024 6:19 AM

Well, let's examine your incredible prognostication, then!!!

[QUOTE]I've said this from the beginning. The woman is terminal. I see it in her face in the BBC-produced video. My mother died of cancer.

[QUOTE]If this were minor and total recovery were expected, there wouldn't have been such a delay and vagueness in announcing.

[QUOTE]Also, "preventive chemotherapy" is bullshit. I'm amazed at the number of media outlets that are just parroting the royal spin.

[QUOTE]If you're getting chemo for abdominal cancer, you're in deep trouble.

Medical or prognostic on social media, or just goddamn stupid becomes the most prescient question? As social influences and influencers try to swamp away the Princess of Wales from actual cancer experts.

They want her dead so bad, the PoW, for some bizarre reason. There's apparently an entire social network of of mean and socially awkward lower-class women who never sought an education and loves taking a shits on their social betters who advanced.

by Anonymousreply 206June 14, 2024 6:35 AM

Take a nap and rehinge yourself, R206.

by Anonymousreply 207June 14, 2024 6:41 AM

I’d suggest that there are quite a few of those people - men and women - on this thread, R206. It’s beyond standard water cooler chat, although using her sickness as entertainment is bad enough. It really feels as though some people are invested in her dying, something which I can’t even begin to understand.

by Anonymousreply 208June 14, 2024 6:43 AM

[quote]They want her dead so bad, the PoW, for some bizarre reason. There's apparently an entire social network of of mean and socially awkward lower-class women who never sought an education and loves taking a shits on their social betters who advanced.

The possibility that Kate's illness is more serious than has been disclosed by official sources is a popular topic on social media but for the most part the discussion I've seen seems fairly civil and sympathetic to her. Public figures dealing with serious illness is a thing that invites speculation and comment. It doesn't mean that the commentariat actually want the Princess of Wales to die.

by Anonymousreply 209June 14, 2024 6:54 AM

So people who actually experienced their mother going through cancer (and dying) at a young age aren't qualified to comment on their experience here.

Makes sense!

by Anonymousreply 210June 14, 2024 7:00 AM

You do not seem to be aware of the popular commenteriat by a certain "Kaiser" on Celebitchy whose entire existence is to see Catherine, Princess of Wales, DEAD as an unthreatening door knob. It also invokes roustabout hatred if anyone questions Meghan, *the* Duchess of Sussex.

This is not Celebitchy, and "Kaiser" is not here.

Why you've assigned one commenter on one irrelevant gossip site veto power over what can and can't be discussed on DL is utterly bizarre.

by Anonymousreply 218June 14, 2024 7:59 AM

The Federal Government has determined which hospitals are specially regulated as Cancer Hospitals. It's public information. The University of Texas Anderson Cancer Center is one of them.

by Anonymousreply 220June 14, 2024 8:14 AM

It would be truly sarcastic and mean if the PoW went to TX to save her life when the State of Texas could so easily disposed of her life once it comes to her health. Imagine if she had an etopic pregnancy while seeking cancer treatment and is forced to bring it to bear despite fighting for her own life? Precisely what the TX statute SAYS.

There’s no tragedy in Diana’s not becoming queen. Diana wasn’t deprived of the role by her death but by her divorce. She removed herself from the position. Charles showed every sign of letting the marriage continue while allowing Diana to continue to pursue her relationships with other men

by Anonymousreply 226June 14, 2024 10:07 AM

R211 is spot on about Celebitchy. The viciousness of the posters there when it comes to Kate is just chilling. It's not the witty repartee of DL; just a mean-spirited hatred of a woman they don't know.

My theory is that it's jealousy because Kate is THIN AND PRETTY AND RICH.

by Anonymousreply 227June 14, 2024 10:26 AM

I was rabidly curious about her health, but only indirectly. It’s not fascinating that a relatively young woman with young children is ill, but her PR’s bungling of the situation and the media’s surface acceptance of at least one blatant falsehood (that they didn’t get test results revealing cancer back for over a month) definitely was.

When the video came out it seemed apparent that the BRF PR wanted to give her some space to die without a maudlin public deathwatch. It seemed odd, not that the media would go along with it, but that so many people accepted the story that this was a recently discovered cancer and she was receiving preventative chemo. Hope springs eternal, I guess.

Now the media has started to get antsy. It’s like they agreed to go along with the story and the whole LEAVE KATE ALONE bullshit (because very few wished her ill, it was people scratching their heads over the info released), but only because they thought they wouldn’t have to wait so long. I don’t feel bad about hypothesizing that she might have a colostomy bag or pointing out that she was wearing bad wigs in 2023 on a gossip site, but a media outlet dropping hints that she might appear at an event to churn up public interest when they know she is dying is surprising. So maybe she isn’t? Is that possible?

Maybe they wanted to avoid publicizing her ability to access any experimental treatment in the world? Is it true the two younger children and her parents haven’t been seem? Because having them in Houston (or wherever) would make sense. And it would explain her dropping off the face of the earth. She can’t be spotted waving from a window or car in Houston, so they go the PRIVACY route. And if she emerges at the end relief that she’s OK would, at least initially, offset any anger at the handling. Well, I hope so.

by Anonymousreply 228June 14, 2024 10:36 AM

[quote]Silly people, those abortion laws only apply to the poors. Rich, white Princesses are excluded.

I hope you stretched before making that reach.

Kate hasn't voted for one single Texas Republican. Don't blame her for the state's politics.

by Anonymousreply 229June 14, 2024 10:48 AM

MD Anderson is one of the best, but it's only one of the best for specific cancers. A guy I dated had a terminal cancer (he died-- it was very sad and awful), and my parents couldn't understand why he wasn't being treated here in Houston. He was at another top hospital elsewhere in the country because MD Anderson wasn't one of the best for the cancer he had.

by Anonymousreply 230June 14, 2024 11:20 AM

@r229, What? Go have a coffee a reread what led up to that

by Anonymousreply 231June 14, 2024 11:23 AM

I hope she is getting better, but that video they released (in which Kate announced her cancer diagnosis) was dire.

It was very, very odd looking— almost other-worldly. I can’t imagine who thought it was a good idea to have Kate looking nothing like herself.

by Anonymousreply 232June 14, 2024 11:24 AM

I don't think the media is getting "antsy," but rumors are going to spread the longer she's out of the public eye. The public doesn't have a right to information about her illness. She's not a head of state or government official.

by Anonymousreply 233June 14, 2024 11:24 AM

I'm sorry, R230. What kind of cancer did he have, and where did he go?

by Anonymousreply 234June 14, 2024 11:26 AM

The kind that Ted Kennedy and John McCain had, and he was treated at the same place, r234.

by Anonymousreply 235June 14, 2024 11:37 AM

So we can conclude that Kate does not have glioblastoma?

by Anonymousreply 236June 14, 2024 11:42 AM

When the news breaks on our televisions that Princess Kate has died , will the same old queen do the "Princess Diana" scream he did in 1997 ? Will his queenie friends have to gather around him and hold his hands to comfort him ?

by Anonymousreply 237June 14, 2024 11:59 AM

I really wish Kate the best in her fight. While we have fun discussing the royals, it’s not like they’re evil fucks like Dump, or Putin. Very few people I can think of deserve a cancer diagnosis. She may have money, but cancer has a habit of being the great equalizer, as someone upthread pointed out. Money and influence certainly didn’t help Kennedy or McCain.

by Anonymousreply 238June 14, 2024 12:10 PM

My god there are some fucking loons on this thread.

Kate died already and the Royal Family are covering it up?

Some of you spent too much time watching soaps on TV, Dallas And Dynasty was not real life.

[quote] The public doesn't have a right to information about her illness. She's not a head of state or government official.

Agree 100%. But how far does that extend? Legitimately curious, when I’m looking at things very differently from others it’s valuable to step back and explore it. Maybe I’m wrong or missing something.

There is virtually 100% agreement that people are entitled to privacy regarding their diagnosis and prognosis and that automatically extends to specific treatment protocol. Timelines of when she might be expected back, they were simply shifted them, which is understandable. Other stuff wasn’t and then it seemed like the response was to blame the public for asking what I’d categorize as reasonable questions and, in the absence of credible answers, developing hypotheses. It’s inappropriate to do that about a colleague at work ( in my experience people are pretty good about not doing this) but is it inappropriate when it’s a public figure? And, even at work, it’s OK to ask, “Did Ann have a boy or a girl? Is she taking the full three months? Have you talked to her?” Asking if mother and baby are doing well is fine. If the answer is “no,” then you stop asking questions once it’s established that it’s serious. You don’t need to know the details. And that’s similar to what happened with Kate. It only got off track because they lied.

People are going to draw the privacy line in different places, but I don’t think it’s inappropriate to point out that she was probably wearing extensions for a while and then definitely switched to different extensions or a wig last fall when her PR is claiming that cancer was only diagnosed weeks after surgery in January. Or to wonder why the media reported her wig as a new “curtain bangs” hairstyle. They could have ignored it. Presenting it as something other than it was is worthy of comment, IMO.

I don't think she's dying.

Prince George was at some event recently with William and he looked happy and at ease. If she was at death's door I don't think a kid that age could fake it. Wouldn't they have to give the kids some inkling of what's going on even if vague so they aren't in total shock if it happens?

I think this is more about her not being camera ready. When you are known for looking great and stylish, it's difficult to be seen otherwise since in her case the photos are splashed all over the world.

by Anonymousreply 242June 14, 2024 12:51 PM

They all use the same standard PR Cleaner tactics. The most common tactic is to angrily swoop in and attack in an attempt to silence the conversation. Their most frequently used word is "hater".

They have failed to silence anyone here. They are failures, like Meghan and her failed Royal career.

by Anonymousreply 248June 14, 2024 1:12 PM

The Prince George at that event was a crisis actor. The British Royal Family knows the future of Britain, indeed the world, depends on upholding the motto "keep calm and carry on."

by Anonymousreply 250June 14, 2024 1:38 PM

Cancer treatment--even for early stage cancer--is fucking brutal. She doesn't need to be dying to feel too miserable to be in public. My cousin had stage 0 breast cancer (limited to milk duct) and still had to have chemo and radiation and was out of commission for a year.

by Anonymousreply 251June 14, 2024 1:40 PM

What kind of treatments was she getting that caused such an incapacitating and prolonged response R251? What was the schedule of chemo and/or radiation?

by Anonymousreply 252June 14, 2024 1:55 PM

I'll tell you what's really bugging the BRF and Kate stans.

It's the fact that Harry and Meghan are still doing well, while the BRF is suffering.

I mean, just look at the facts. Harry and Meghan are still winning.

And I find it odd that the two people "outed" by the Dutch journalist as being the ones making the racist comments towards Meghan about how her children would look, are the same two who were stricken with cancer.

Meanwhile, Harry and Meghan are thriving in California, while the BRF is suffering.

I'd call that "just desserts," and that's really what pisses off their supporters.

R244 is so right. I wish Kate well, but if it were Meghan Markle who had cancer and disappeared from public view there'd be endless nasty speculation and psychotic trashing of her around here.

Don't bother to deny it. You know I'm right.

No, he is not right at all. There is no evidence Catherine’s is a vile, cruel, corrupt, selfish, and narcissistic human being like Meghan. It is truly bizarre you would expect Catherine to be the target of the same level of criticism. That would be evidence of some weird bias. It’s normal for despicable people to receive criticism. Are you outraged Donald Trump receives so much more criticism than Jimmy Carter?

It would be despicable to wish cancer on Meghan. Probably some weird people would, but so far it is only Catherine who is receiving that kind of abuse.

[quote] It's the fact that Harry and Meghan are still doing well, while the BRF is suffering.

[quote] I mean, just look at the facts. Harry and Meghan are still winning.

Really? I question that according to the measure the Sussexes themselves set for "winning".

They invited "A List" celebrities to their wedding that they didn't even know. Where are they now?

Amal Clooney herself indulged in a bit of the "look at me" hoopla when she made sure to have paparazzi pix of her entering Markle's ill-advised shower. I would bet she regrets that now. She seems to have distanced herself. And, after the Sussexes left the Royal family, she made sure to have her photo taken with King Charles at some charity Gala.

Maybe Markle and Michelle Obama are besties. Maybe they keep their friendship strictly private. Could be. But, gee, somehow I doubt it. Perhaps Markle has no time for their friendship given that she's scrambling for relevance.

Point being, us observers didn't ascribe that Wanna Be A List aura for them. They wanted to have others perceive that of them.

That recent Vogue piece on Gwynneth Paltrow's Montecito Soiree, complete with pics of Oprah, Rob Lowe, and the other wealthy, famous and powerful at her home, was conspicuously absent any pix of the Sussexes, who live in the SAME town.

Clearly, Anna Wintour and Paltrow have chosen a side, and it ain't the Sussexes.

I don't hate the Sussexes. I reserve that for the Donald Trumps of the world, which is why I don't watch River anymore. She's a Trumper and even if we share a dislike of the Sussexes, that ain't enough for me to give her my attention.

But the thing that I don't understand is how Markle Stans just accept at face value her version of events when she was still in London.

She KNOWS the BRF can't and won't respond, and, in true slick fashion, knows the road is clear for her to have hers and Harry's insinuations about bigotry engaged in by Kate and Charles unchallenged by them, because that's not how the BRF rolls.

"...recollections may vary...", indeed.

MDA is rated #1 in the world. There's a reason why wealthy people from around the globe come here. by Anonymousreply 285June 14, 2024 4:03 PM

Harry's entered the chat.

by Anonymousreply 286June 14, 2024 4:14 PM

I admire your thick skull, R285. You can obviously trained for some function, other than this. Fuck off and enjoy the block, you sad sack.

by Anonymousreply 287June 14, 2024 4:16 PM

I'm puzzled by people like R284. They must spend a LOT of time searching out the names of their most hated couple. I'm American, I don't follow gossip rags or tv and I never hear about these Meghan or Harry people. I barely hear about the royal family. Mainly just here. I can only assume the British press creates a lot of this shit for click bait and the trashy Brit fraus gobble it up. Behind the scenes, I doubt there is much drama at all.

Very doubtful "the world" is paying any attention.

by Anonymousreply 288June 14, 2024 4:17 PM

No need for her to go to Houston. Surgeons can fly to UK. I’m sure UK has top notch imaging equipment at least in private hospitals. I’m sure any medication treatment can be flown to UK. I worked on a renowned surgical team in NYC and my boss went around the world doing surgery, opened a clinic in China. He would fly a renowned French surgeon to NY to help him do surgery on certain cases.

So no need for Kate go to Houston.

My best friend’s sister died at 42 from bowel cancer. My husband’s cousin died at 50 from rectal cancer. The 42 year old sister of my friend was a homeopath who never smoked and only ate organic foods. She was very health conscious, especially regarding diet and exercise. She had abdominal pain, went to ER, liver enzymes were elevated. She’d just returned from a part of the world that was unsanitary due to lack of water, so she was diagnosed with hepatitis. Two weeks later she was in horrible pain again, went to ER and they did a scan this time and found abdominal tumors in colon and liver. It was a death sentence. Inoperable.

Life is unfair. We like to think karma is real but it’s not because too many bad people get away with literal mass murder and too many good people die young.

by Anonymousreply 289June 14, 2024 4:21 PM

Off topic but when when Muriel was cleaning house did she toss out the endless markle threads and the worst of the fraus that infested them?

Just curious because I haven't noticed the endless drivel.

@r286, Yep, you got me, Harry here with nothing better to do than argue with a bunch of British Fraus who are still mad that I picked the American black woman over them

I don't think people go for just surgery R289.

by Anonymousreply 292June 14, 2024 4:24 PM

and buy/move the equipment. and set up some hospital environment for said equipment.

by Anonymousreply 294June 14, 2024 4:29 PM

Good news there is a headline on druge but no article that states that Kate will be back to work this weekend and the palace is giving an update on her health in a few hours. She is still on Chemo and had good days and bad days. But it sounds hopeful.

by Anonymousreply 295June 14, 2024 4:32 PM

All the speculation on this thread reminds me of being a kid in school and all the gossip that would go around. Some kid miss a day of school due to a car wreck? By the end of the day someone would swear that kid had been life-flighted and was on life support. Of course, said kid would show up the next day with a sprained wrist.

I swear, I think some people want this woman to die because they would enjoy the drama of it all. Ghouls. Good for Kate that she is taking her time to heal before re-entering public life and dealing with all of the rabid psychopaths it seems to attract.

by Anonymousreply 296June 14, 2024 4:36 PM

Very true R293. Speaking of Houston, we used to have an evening health news segment featuring Dr. Red Duke who I loved. He looked like a character from a Western movie with a lazy twangy drawl. More cowboy than surgeon.

by Anonymousreply 303June 14, 2024 5:08 PM

What “equipment” does Houston have that the UK doesn’t have? CT? MRI? PET?

There’s no magic machine in TX. They have blood labs in UK to run tests. They could send blood to US for tests if there was some special lab in TX.

Tell us what cancer treatment is done in TX that can’t be done in UK? George Harrison went to Staten Island for laser knife and it not only didn’t cure him, it didn’t even prolong his life.

That laser knife of gamma knife surgery is hit and miss. A close family member did it and it didn't work. Did no harm, but didn't work. It's also out-patient, so there's that. (Easy to at least try it, if you have the $ or the insurance.)

Why are certain posters so obsessed with where MD Anderson is ranked, whether within the US or the world at large? It’s a great cancer center, with sweet University of Texas money and power, excellent clinicians, and cutting edge treatments and research.

Isn’t that enough? Is it because it’s in Texas?

In addition to MD Anderson’s top ranking for cancer care, the institution was ranked nationally among all hospitals for the following specialties: No. 2 for Ear, Nose & Throat, No. 8 for Urology, and No. 19 for Gastroenterology & GI Surgery. The institution also was rated as “High Performing” in common adult procedures and conditions for colon cancer surgery; leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma; lung cancer surgery; ovarian cancer surgery; prostate cancer surgery; and uterine cancer surgery.

MD Anderson has been committed to Making Cancer History® for more than 80 years. With integrated and comprehensive programs to advance impactful discovery, prevention, translational and clinical research, the institution engages some of the top minds in the world to gain a deeper understanding of cancer and to bring meaningful benefits to patients.

MD Anderson’s unique research environment fosters seamless collaboration between its scientists and clinicians, enabling a rapid cycle of innovation to accelerate breakthroughs across the spectrum of cancer science, including prevention, early detection, treatment and survivorship.

In the past fiscal year, more than 175,000 patients sought the compassionate care and expertise of MD Anderson’s clinicians. These experts provide specialized treatments for all cancer types, including rare cancers not often seen elsewhere. The MD Anderson Cancer Network® elevates the quality of cancer care by collaborating with local hospitals and health systems in Texas, the nation and the world, to improve the quality and accessibility of cancer care and research.

MD Anderson is home to the world’s largest cancer clinical trials program, with more than 1,600 active trials evaluating the most innovative treatment options before they are widely available. To support ongoing innovation and impactful discoveries, MD Anderson invested $1.1 billion in research efforts and was awarded more National Cancer Institute-funded projects than any other U.S. institution in the last fiscal year.

Cancer prevention plays a vital role in advancing MD Anderson’s mission. Nearly 34,000 patients sought screening and risk-reduction services at Lyda Hill Cancer Prevention Center, and more than 5,000 received tobacco cessation services through the Tobacco Research and Treatment Program. The institution supports a variety of programs and research efforts that seek to develop and advance evidence-based prevention strategies around the world.

MD Anderson also is committed to training the next generation to continue our mission. More than 5,000 trainees and students participated in specialized educational programs last year.

Reddit.

Pulitzer Prize winni- oh, wait a minute.

by Anonymousreply 335June 14, 2024 11:15 PM

We don't have any evidence that she was at that place in Houston. The posts about it were responding to the fool who insistently denied that any hospital in TX, or even the US, could possibly be eminent enough for a member of the British royal family would go there for cancer treatment. He has been abundantly answered.

by Anonymousreply 336June 14, 2024 11:18 PM

for a member of the British royal family *to* go there

by Anonymousreply 337June 14, 2024 11:20 PM

R328, I see what you're saying, but I think all cancer patients have in common certain sufferings, including the fear of death, regrets about the past, sadness over wasted opportunities, and fear of the cancer pain that is almost inevitable as the disease progresses. Both rich and poor cancer patients feel these things, and I believe Kate was speaking to the solitary grief and fear that most everyone experiences with a cancer diagnosis, apart from a bank account balance.

Mary, I know....

by Anonymousreply 338June 15, 2024 12:46 AM

by Anonymousreply 339June 15, 2024 12:48 AM

R330, I believe that's it. Texas for a lot of people is like Florida or Arkansas, or Oklahoma. People just have, well, ideas about it. So they like to take a dump on it. 🤷‍♀️

by Anonymousreply 340June 15, 2024 12:51 AM

Just stop r328. Cancer sucks. It doesn’t matter how much or how little you have. Many a wealthy person was brought to their knees by cancer. And didn’t survive. You sound like you have had a very privilege life.

by Anonymousreply 341June 15, 2024 1:01 AM

R328 does that mean that you would prefer that people with a high profile going through something horrible like cancer remain mute? And by doing so, make no positive difference to even one other person?

Vanessa Friedman’s take on this …

by Anonymousreply 365June 15, 2024 7:17 PM

I wonder why the King wore the general officer waist sash instead of the correct crimson one that Will is wearing as a Royal Colonel of a Guards regiment. The gold & crimson striped waist sash that HM is wearing goes correctly with his field marshal's frock coat, but I've never seen a guards colonel wear it in Full Dress. Obviously Charles can do what he wants as commander in chief, but it looks a little weird.

The only full dress (scarlet tunic) uniform that still officially uses that gold striped sash is the general officer's full dress, and that's only worn by the Major General Commanding the Household Division, with his cool ostrich feather bicorne below. But it's a completely different tunic, not regiment specific with button groupings, shamrocks, leeks, heraldic grenades, etc.
