Having seen neither of those TV shows, I knew her from a Comedy Central Roast she did 10-15 years ago during a recent rerun. She was surprisingly funny with good timing.

More to your point, Hollywood is awash in actors (young or old) who were briefly famous. She probably made mint off her TV work, and is living a comfortable quiet life.

She shows up on lots of stuff.

Umbrella Academy. 13 Reasons Why. Emily in Paris. She was also back on Grey's Anatomy for a while there, too.

"Emily" has to be an amazing gig. Fly to Paris for a few weeks to act the fool and get paid.

I am sure being a regular on a procedural (especially when you are the lead like in Private Practice) gets to be a grind after a bit (albeit, a well-paying grind,) so she can take it easy if she wants.

Don't forget, she's also a perfume magnate!

I see her every weekend on the Crepe Eraser info-mercial with Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman.

She's a 56 year-old woman, there's not a lot of opportunities for good roles. Why else do you think Ellen Pompeo has clung to Grey's Anatomy for so long...

Good question OP.....always liked her vibe in various movies, and she was fun on Grey's when she first started.

She did seem to disappear after Private Practice was done. That was the most boring show ever, though, so maybe she just took time off and counted her money.

She had her own show called “bad judge” that got cancelled very quickly.

She just appeared in a fucking horrible play, The Jordans, at NYC's Public Theatre. Played a bitch, natch.

She has a reputation for being very nice, all the cast on Grey's Anatomy seem to love her.

I think her partner is Australian and she's spends a lot of time there. She was in Western Australia during the pandemic lockdowns.

She has a condo overlooking the gulf in Pelican Bay, North Naples. Jane Seymour is supposed to have a place in the area too.

She moved to Australia.
