Henry Winkler confirms the long-standing rumor that Tom Hanks had him fired as the director of Turner & Hooch, and reveals how he earned his place on Hanks' shit list.

They're both aging like milk.

by Anonymousreply 1June 4, 2024 5:13 PM

I refuse to take sides.

by Anonymousreply 2June 4, 2024 5:13 PM

Talent free Hanks is not at all humble. Mister nice guy my ass.

by Anonymousreply 3June 4, 2024 5:14 PM

I don't buy that Tom Hanks is as nice as reported. You don't get a Chet Hanks out of nowhere. Something went wrong. It's too bad since I love him as an actor and I want to believe the facade, and yet...

Henry Winkler seems like one of the true nice guys. He kept a career going after Happy Days, good for him.

by Anonymousreply 4June 4, 2024 5:19 PM

Epstein Island Hanks is on watch.

by Anonymousreply 5June 4, 2024 5:28 PM

Never heard a bad word about Henry. Hanks, on the other hand.......

by Anonymousreply 6June 4, 2024 5:30 PM

Say what you will about Hanks, but he's kept mum about this while Henry has seemingly dwelled on it repeatedly, and his story seems to shift.

by Anonymousreply 7June 4, 2024 5:31 PM

I'm in agreement with R6.

I've never heard anything negative about Henry Winkler. Tom Hanks, on the other hand...

by Anonymousreply 8June 4, 2024 8:30 PM

Feud Season 3

by Anonymousreply 9June 4, 2024 8:54 PM

"Turner & Hooch" was filmed thirty-five years ago.

It's really hard to care about a feud that old. Let it go, Henry.

by Anonymousreply 10June 4, 2024 9:02 PM

Tom Hanks is a pompous cunt who stars in the most vanilla, middle of the road movies possible.

by Anonymousreply 11June 4, 2024 11:14 PM

Tom Hanks is self entitled prick and his wife is a mean cunt. Typical Hollywood couple.

by Anonymousreply 12June 4, 2024 11:32 PM

Team Winkler. Decades ago I saw him and happy days people at a UCLA Extension Class about comedy .

At the height of his fame, you would never know it by how normal and down to earth he was . Tom Hicks is insufferable

by Anonymousreply 13June 5, 2024 12:00 AM

I've heard Hanks is an asshole. Never heard that about Winkler.

by Anonymousreply 14June 5, 2024 12:08 AM

Tom screaming at some poor fan because his wife almost got "knocked over". Meanwhile, she barely tripped and the fan he's yelling at didn't do anything.

Asshole.

I have been working in film/tv for nigh 25 years. I've only heard great things about Winkle, from lowly PAs to producersr. Tom- I haven't heard much, negative or postive.

by Anonymousreply 16June 5, 2024 12:13 AM

Dammit auto correct- WINKLER

by Anonymousreply 17June 5, 2024 12:14 AM

Told this before but spent quite a bit of time with and around Tom when he on Broadway in Lucky Guy. He was a nice regular guy. Maybe being away from Hollywood has an effect? One Friday night he just hung out with me and two friends at Sardis until it got late and he had to go home. He had two shows on Saturday. Go figure.

by Anonymousreply 18June 5, 2024 1:48 AM

Hanks is dirrrrrrrty. And everyone knows it.

by Anonymousreply 19June 5, 2024 2:21 AM

Hasn't the story on Hanks forever been that he's a real mean drunk.

by Anonymousreply 20June 5, 2024 6:00 PM

I'm watching a 3rd season SVU episode with Winkler as a bad guy. He plays creepy very well.

by Anonymousreply 21June 6, 2024 2:36 AM

R20. Oh Chet just stop it.

by Anonymousreply 22June 6, 2024 2:43 AM

Yeah, sure…!

by Anonymousreply 23June 6, 2024 3:04 AM

Henry could have played Mr. Rogers too.

by Anonymousreply 24June 6, 2024 3:11 AM

He was GREAT in that episode, R21!! But the moment you saw his name in the opening credits, you just knew he was going to be the baddie -- because they loved the against-type thing (and a big name) on SVU. That's also how I knew (instantly) that Jaclyn Smith was going to be the murderer in the episode in which she guest-starred. I love that stuff.

I read the article and I don’t understand - Hanks was jealous some rando knew Fonzie? Or that Fonzie made a point to introduce him to her?

by Anonymousreply 26June 6, 2024 3:18 AM

How petty. But we’ve heard too much about Hanks to believe he’s really a nice guy. And he’s a nepo enabler. I don’t think Henry has any kids in the biz.

by Anonymousreply 27June 6, 2024 3:32 AM

His son, Max, is a screenwriter & director. His daughter, Zoe, studied early-education, taught Pre-K, and now runs a non-profit called This is About Humanity -- which assists children/families separated at the border.

by Anonymousreply 28June 6, 2024 4:30 AM

Jim Parsons would have won an Oscar if he’d played Mr. Rogers instead of Hanks.

by Anonymousreply 29June 6, 2024 3:04 PM

The Gardai have announced that Tom Hanks, who was seen with a lighted match outside Winkler's hotel, is a person of interest in this case.

Tom Hanks is a big closet queen.

by Anonymousreply 31June 14, 2024 1:28 AM

Saw him years ago in Central Park trying to disguise himself - thick black rimmed glasses, heavy beard, faded jeans, well worn plaid flannel shirt, big parka. But some tourists recognized him and he was extremely nice to them. The husband took photo of Hanks with his wife, then the wife took photo of husband with Hanks, then Hanks grabbed the camera from them, had them stand together and took a photo of them , the handed the camera back to them. They said “Thank you, we love you,” and he said, “No, thank [italic] you [/italic]

He seemed like a regular guy, joking around with them. I thought it was very nice of him to do that.

by Anonymousreply 32June 14, 2024 1:31 AM

I'm still not understanding why they have a beef between them. I'm actually a big fan of both Hanks and Winkler.

A lot of fond memories of Hanks as Buffy in Bosom Buddies. That was and still is a fun show.

I just read Winkler’s book and I didn’t get the sense that he hated Hanks. He was mad at himself for not trusting his gut feelings and taking on a different movie instead. (I can’t remember the other movie, but it wasn’t as big a project).
