Patricia Richardson says ‘Home Improvement’ was canceled due to her requesting equal pay to Tim Allen

Let’s be real, she did not deserve the same amount of money as him. He was the star, and it was his vehicle. Since day one.

I like this lady, no BS.

by Anonymousreply 1May 25, 2024 9:13 PM

I would have cancelled it too. Ungrateful beotchas. Should have been grateful with the fame they got. I mean, who can pay everyone the same as the main star???

by Anonymousreply 2May 25, 2024 9:13 PM

Any of the sons turn out queer?

by Anonymousreply 3May 25, 2024 9:13 PM

I get her and Patricia Heaton mixed up.

by Anonymousreply 4May 25, 2024 9:14 PM

Looks like she's doing Shelley Long cosplay.

by Anonymousreply 5May 25, 2024 9:16 PM

What’s sad is the door slammed behind her when she left. No female in primetime has EVER been paid the same as the male co-star.

by Anonymousreply 6May 25, 2024 9:19 PM

Tim Allen is a Trumptard, so if Patricia Richardson helped get his show canceled, I'm fine with that.

by Anonymousreply 7May 25, 2024 9:20 PM

The show wasn't funny by the end. It was time to end it regardless of anything else going on.

by Anonymousreply 8May 25, 2024 9:23 PM

How did she age so bad? Was she a meth addict?

by Anonymousreply 9May 25, 2024 9:25 PM

She's in her 70s.

by Anonymousreply 10May 25, 2024 9:39 PM

It was Tim Allen's show, nobody ever said they were sitting down to watch Patricia Richardson in Home Improvement. I don't think I ever even quite knew her full name.

by Anonymousreply 11May 25, 2024 9:41 PM

her son is a hot slutty gay in nyc.

by Anonymousreply 12May 25, 2024 9:44 PM

She walked away from $25 million just to prove a point and stick it to Disney 😳

That wasn't a very smart thing to do

by Anonymousreply 13May 25, 2024 9:50 PM

R14, she also stuck it to Trumper Tim Allen. So maybe it's a wash.

by Anonymousreply 14May 25, 2024 9:57 PM

See also the original Aunt Viv in The Fresh Prince.

by Anonymousreply 15May 25, 2024 10:20 PM

It was Tim Allen’s show, but she got the Emmy nominations and critical acclaim.

by Anonymousreply 16May 25, 2024 10:32 PM

Silly, Silly woman. Suzanne Somers was right to ask for the same pay as John Ritter...just like it wud be hard to understand if the 3 guys in Friends got more than the girls. But, this scenario is NOT the same. She was a supporting player in Tims show...and also, I've rarely watched it, but when I did, I seriously thought she was bland beyond belief.

by Anonymousreply 17May 25, 2024 10:32 PM

[quote]I get her and Patricia Heaton mixed up.

Same here- I almost posted "cunt" until I realized that I had the wrong Patricia

by Anonymousreply 18May 25, 2024 10:37 PM

^ Two TV moms with shows at the same time both named Patricia. I do it too 🤷‍♂️

by Anonymousreply 19May 25, 2024 10:39 PM

r19 Wow

by Anonymousreply 20May 25, 2024 10:40 PM

This cunt actually won Emmys

by Anonymousreply 21May 25, 2024 10:41 PM

I’m not like this woman at all. I’m a true patriot who believes in citrus fruit.

by Anonymousreply 22May 25, 2024 10:45 PM

Not true. If she could not renegotiate her contract in good faith, then Disney could have killed her off, and replaced her with some big titted bimbo for Allen to work off of. It probably would have saved the show for another five years

by Anonymousreply 23May 25, 2024 10:47 PM

@r20, "[R19] Wow "

I'd knew you'd be impressed, now about your unimpressive dick...

Oh, who am I kidding, you're too drunk to care

by Anonymousreply 24May 25, 2024 10:52 PM

r24 Ooh, good one - so witty!

by Anonymousreply 25May 25, 2024 11:23 PM

Suzanne Somers was the only reason for watching 3s Company. It was ridiculous that she made less than Ritter. It's unwatchable without her. She was totally fucked over.

by Anonymousreply 26May 25, 2024 11:24 PM

It was then when I used my thighs for good.

by Anonymousreply 27May 25, 2024 11:25 PM

And yet the show continued for years without her, R26.

by Anonymousreply 28May 25, 2024 11:26 PM

r28 Fewer watched

by Anonymousreply 29May 25, 2024 11:29 PM

and even a thread about a sitcom that's nearly a 1/4 century old turns into a Trump thread. Kudos girls.

by Anonymousreply 30May 25, 2024 11:33 PM

^ Fat drunk and stupid has entered the chat

by Anonymousreply 31May 25, 2024 11:34 PM

She's just telling us now?

by Anonymousreply 32May 25, 2024 11:47 PM

Who caressss?

by Anonymousreply 33May 26, 2024 12:03 AM

[quote]I mean, who can pay everyone the same as the main star???

Tim Allen could've gone to the mat for her or dropped his own pay a smidge to cover the shortfall and make things equal. It's a gesture of goodwill to be generous in the waning seasons of a huge hit. That she knew not to expect that from Allen or ABC when she requested the raise says it all.

"The Big Bang Theory" is an example of a monster success where everyone looked out for each other financially. It probably extended the life of the series by several (tedious) seasons.

by Anonymousreply 34May 26, 2024 12:05 AM

R34 Maybe he didn't like her enough or care. Anyway, he was the star, she wasn't. She wasn't an equal factor in the success of the show and didn't actually deserve equal pay. Did Vivian Vance get equal pay to Lucy?

by Anonymousreply 35May 26, 2024 12:12 AM

Bea Arthur was always paid more than the other Golden Girls.

by Anonymousreply 36May 26, 2024 12:23 AM

Hello, r23?

by Anonymousreply 37May 26, 2024 12:35 AM

[quote]Maybe he didn't like her enough or care.

That's one of Richardson's points. Her main (longstanding) beef was with the network, which she felt had underpaid her all along.

Allen mainly figures into it because the two of them had agreed to end the show until he was offered massive money (twice as much as her) for an extra season. Then he had the gall to be pissed that Richardson cost him money, even though his inaction cost her significant sums.

How essential she was to the show can be debated, but the producers' decision not to continue it without her would seem to support her position.

by Anonymousreply 38May 26, 2024 12:38 AM

R36 But if they others had demanded to be the same as Bea, that would have made more sense.

by Anonymousreply 39May 26, 2024 12:38 AM

*the others.

by Anonymousreply 40May 26, 2024 12:39 AM

The Friends were the first cast who all negotiated together and demanded pay equity for all 6.

by Anonymousreply 41May 26, 2024 12:41 AM

Tim's an old cokehead narc. He doesn't care about anything

by Anonymousreply 42May 26, 2024 12:43 AM

The show was a direct extension of Allen's stand-up routine about Sears tools. That people still confuse this Patricia with the more comedic Patricia of "Everybody Loves Raymond" explains her salary.

by Anonymousreply 43May 26, 2024 12:48 AM

R43 = Patty Heaton

by Anonymousreply 44May 26, 2024 12:58 AM

I always confused the two - I think they actually are the same actress. And I'd put the one who played Roseann's sister in there, too.

by Anonymousreply 45May 26, 2024 1:08 AM

[quote]And I'd put the one who played Roseann's sister in there, too.

Heaton and Richardson couldn't hold a candle to the GREAT Laurie Metcalf.

by Anonymousreply 46May 26, 2024 1:12 AM

The headline is misleading. The show was on its last legs and Richardson had already extended her 7 year contract one more year. According to her even Allen recognized it should end after eight seasons. But when the producers suddenly offered him 2 million to go another season he was jacked and pressured Richardson to come back. She didn't want to and hated being in the position of saying no which led to the idea that she would ask for equal pay. Knowing how Disney had under payed her all those years (her salary was 1/3 of Allen's)she was sure they would reject her demand, which they did.

So she simply didn't sign a new shitty contract, she didn't cancel the show.

by Anonymousreply 47May 26, 2024 1:42 AM

They should have killed the greedy bitch off.

by Anonymousreply 48May 26, 2024 2:03 AM

I like how so many don’t even remember her.

by Anonymousreply 49May 26, 2024 2:12 AM

Always sad when people become greedy and bitter.

by Anonymousreply 50May 26, 2024 2:23 AM

HEY! A gal's gotta eat.
