Italian singer Frankie Valli (born Francesco Stephen Castelluccio in Newark, NJ) turned 90 years old on May 3. Valli was a hit singer with the Four Seasons in the 1960s and struck out on his own as a solo artist in the 70s with two #1 hits ('My Eyes Adored You' in 1975 and 'Grease' in 1978). He scored another #1 with the Four Seasons in 1975 ('Oh What A Night') and a #6 solo ('Swearin' To God'). Valli still performs in concert, and has a summer tour lined up.
One of the streaming services (I think it's Max) has been running Jersey Boys, which just ok.

Wow, he looks fantastic for 90! 😮

This one could have been a disco classic but it wasn't released by Motown.

He had to get a restraining order against his son.

A much older friend (by 41 years) took me along to see him in the early 2000s. He had the younger guys picking up the high parts, but he still sounded good. Now? I have no idea. But age certainly plays a hand.

His voice grated on my last nerve in the song Sherry Baby.

[quote]yeah well, Frankie Grande lóóks 90
Coincidentally, that's also his IQ.

I just love everything about him. The voice, the old-school vibe, the Vegas shtick... Italian-American culture is so rich and beautiful.

He has very young sons - his eldest (whom he has a restraining order against) is 36. The twins are a few years younger.

The Jersey Boys movie is joyless. It was directed by that master of movie musicals Clint Eastwood.

Last month, Frankie Valli Way was dedicated on the street where he grew up in Newark, New Jersey city housing.

I wonder if his teeth in photo r12 posted are dentures, veneers dental implants.
His stepdaughter died in early 1980 after falling off a fire escape. Later that year his daughter died of. a drug overdose

Those teefs look so natural for a 90 year old.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | May 10, 2024 11:43 AM |
Okay, this is basically elderabuse at this stage.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | August 5, 2024 6:36 AM |
I watched the concert video it's sad ,obviously he's being coerced /forced to do in this by his family for the $$$$$$. The entire concert is lip synced with many younger background singers/ dancers to distract the audience from that fact. He does not seem to be impacted by dementia but he's 90 obviously slowing down physically and mentally . Kudos to him to keep working if that what makes him happy and if he is doing it voluntarily . Italian American Boomer men have a strong drive to provide for their family no matter what and this is example of it.

He was born in 1934. Not even close to being a Boomer.

What a douche that guy at r18 is.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | August 5, 2024 8:26 PM |
R21 - he's definitely douchey. He's not wrong that this is beyond embarrassing, though. Frankie's got that elderly man 10,000 yard stare that I distinctly recall my dad having in the last year of his life. Whether he himself is pushing for these shows to continue or if he's being manipulated by unscrupulous figures in his inner circle, cooler heads should have prevailed and said, it's time to hang it up. He's like the Diane Feinstein of old rockers. Nancy P would've shut this down.

Amateur.
Hey, where’s Annette!!!?
by Anonymous | reply 25 | August 6, 2024 1:17 AM |
He’s already scheduled 2025 dates! His sons are 30 and 36 so he was 60 when his twin sons were born. His youngest daughter died of an overdose in 1980 and his stepdaughter from his first marriage fell off a fire escape and died like 6 months before his daughter died.
His musical director has been with him since 1978, and I think his band and orchestra have a number of long time members so hopefully someone there is looking out for him.
A lot of these older acts are still performing because they are supporting 1st, 2nd and sometimes 3rd families. Also they have a lifestyle they have been accustomed to so and don’t know the meaning of downsizing. Plus they are addicted to the attention, applause and adulation and going into a quiet retirement is not in the cards.

His 2026 tour with Rudy Giuliani is called the Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons Landscaping
by Anonymous | reply 27 | August 6, 2024 2:25 AM |
OP - even with those songs, the song I most associate with Valli is " Can't Take My Eyes Off You."
by Anonymous | reply 28 | August 6, 2024 2:49 AM |
r26 - that's all well and good if the performer isn't on death's door. I mean, Miss Patti LaBelle is an octogenarian and she is out there still singing her pipes out and still so vital and full of life.
Hell, even after the dementia diagnosis, Tony Bennett had more life in him on stage!
This is just... so unfortunate.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | August 6, 2024 2:53 AM |
R14 What is that? I want to know more...
by Anonymous | reply 30 | August 6, 2024 3:03 AM |
R29 Patti LaBelle is also hawking Patti LaBelle cobblers at Walmart. Delicious! I'm not kidding, the peach/apple with extra crust is a DL fat whore dream!

r31 - Oh, I know! She's made a FORTUNE off of her pies and other foods. I love seeing her success so late in life. Especially knowing her family history with all of her sisters dying so young and her just assuming she'd never live to see her old age. What a wonderful woman! And, she's LOVED and supported her gay fans for decades.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | August 6, 2024 3:08 AM |
I never cared for his music.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | August 6, 2024 10:39 PM |
He's got so much plastic surgery, I'm surprised he was cast in the Sopranos at Rusty Millio. He looked totally different. None of the other Sopranos cast member had obvious plastic surgery.
And yes, his concerts are totally lip synched, now. Not just the high notes.
That said, I do like his voice.

I thought that was a picture of a rapidly aging Jon Stewart.

Oh, ha, R35 -- I kinda see that.
That, or, the walking corpse of Richard Lewis.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | August 8, 2024 5:24 AM |
I wonder if he can close his eyes when he sleeps.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | August 8, 2024 5:24 AM |
What do we know about his back-up singers? Guy on far right is cute.
