I ended up sitting near her having dinner with a bunch of queens while connecting in Atlanta once. Exquisitely random. Said queens lorded over her.

She’s gotta be, what, 50 years old now, right?

R2 She’s either 73 or 83, depending on what you believe.

Her son, Shel, is a dead-ringer for young Val Kilmer save for the wonky eye.

The son has - or at least had - a phenomenal body.

Even though her naturalization papers give a year of birth as 1951, there's no way she was 14 in this 1965 video of the Ed Sullivan Show.

I love her no matter what her age. Why do people feel the need to lie about their age?

I saw her in concert. She's a helluva entertainer. And, of course, she said "Since ju are such a special audience, I know you can appreciate this" before five minutes of classical guitar.

Her accent must be a put on by now after being in the US for so long. I wonder how she really sounds.

Her guitar passion album was the first album I ever remember listening to. She’s very talented.

Sometime in the late 1990's, Charo came to San Francisco and appeared at The Stud. When asked what she thought of San Francisco, she said something like, "San Francisco is another planet." When I read that, I always pictured, Charo saying that in a heavy Castlllian accent.

Charo had a surprisingly warm and delightful feel for comedy on Chico and the Man. In her first scene, however, she smothers the kid with her tits.

Back in the old days, Charo appeared on the CBS - and Carol played Charo opposite her in the sketch below - love the 'Bob Mackie' bird seed bra that Carol wore.

Matthew of Boy Culture went to CHILLER too and said she was great. Everything I've read she was the hit of the show.

About twenty-five years ago I saw he play Babe r in a production of Crimes of the Heart at dinner theater near Rancho Mirage. Patricia Kalember and Marian Mercer were the other two sisters. It was a terrific production and I think everyone left the theater wondering why Charo hadn't done more stage work or even dramatic tv and film work.
