Bambi giving off Prince Caspian vibes. Though Benjy was not bewigged.

Perhaps extentions. Benjy's hair for Dorian filmed shortly after.

Just finished Mary and George. It is a wonderful engrossing titillating piece. Found the performances to be strong. Tony Curran especially. The one quibble I have is Nicholas Galatzine. He is stunning to look at in his period finery I could readily accept why women and men would be seduced by him. Galitzine fills the bill. However to rise to be the most powerful man in England requires a bit more. What George Villers character requires is a beautiful mask disguising boundless ambition and guile. Galitzine doesn't do guile. What this role needed was a male Natalie Dormer. Galatzine just doesn't have that range(yet). At the end his George appears just as passive and malleable as he did at the beginning. I never believed him as the most ruthless feared man in the realm. A pretty boy he remains.

Galiitzine needs the Big Dick Energy Natalie Dormer has.

R10 Nat's clit is 3x's the size of Bambi's cocklett. He's a well known micro peen.

She seems a bit of a Diva.

Did anyone see the newest episode?
by Anonymous | reply 16 | April 27, 2024 4:06 AM |
Obvious to Helen Keller, Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles
by Anonymous | reply 17 | April 27, 2024 4:40 AM |
Nicholas is just 'Theatrical'.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | April 27, 2024 4:47 AM |
No one wants to talk about the actual show? Can you save the stuff about Nicholas himself for the other threads?
by Anonymous | reply 19 | April 27, 2024 4:49 AM |
Austin is just "Musical"

Starz is on episode four now, I think? Hate that we lost Somerset so soon. I really enjoyed Laurie Davidson in this. But it gave way to a greater focus on the reality of King James' and George's life together. James doesn't fundamentally trust him, George doesn't really love him and is just finding this a politically advantageous relationship, yet there is still care there.

I agree they could’ve dragged out Somerset a bit more, Julianne Moore really a great performance, and oh, that skin!
I worked with an Irish aesthetician in Boston’s South End that had a similar clear complexion so taut you could bounce a quarter off of, one that defies the diet, pollution, aging and stress of the modern world.

I suppose it's to be expected that Galitzine is getting a lot of attention for the show, but Tony Curran is sublime. When he confronted George about sleeping around and his tale of his true love - perfection.

Curran is definitely the MVP of the show
by Anonymous | reply 24 | April 27, 2024 5:28 PM |
Though the sex is titillating for sure I find the series to be laughably bad. The dialogue is unintentionally camp.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | April 27, 2024 5:43 PM |
R23 Agree. Curran may snag an Emmy nom. Galitzine is batting way above his league.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | April 28, 2024 12:35 AM |
Think there was a good reason Julianne Moore opted out of doing any promotion in the states.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | April 28, 2024 12:46 AM |
My interest in it is fading, despite Moore.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | May 4, 2024 3:17 AM |
Episode 5 is when my interest waned, as well. I still finished the series by forwarding through bits I wasn't interested in, but it was treading water.

They seemed to run out of steam trying to compress the last decade of Villiear's life and death. When Galatzine puts his pantaloons on it becomes painfully obvious he lacks the acting chops to convince us he is the most ruthless feared boi toy in the realm. King Bambi is still just Bambi.

How many episodes are there?
by Anonymous | reply 31 | May 4, 2024 4:39 AM |
7 episodes 2 more remain
by Anonymous | reply 32 | May 4, 2024 4:49 AM |
Episode 3 was fantastic. The rest is draggy and dull. Thank goodness for Tony Curran. Moore is a bore.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | May 4, 2024 5:54 PM |
Moore is fine but the accent is a little shaky
by Anonymous | reply 34 | May 4, 2024 8:19 PM |
Mama’s mussy is deflating interest and is wilting- like a well chewed piece of roast beef sandwich

Penultimate episode tonight. Anyone still watching? Did we lose interest when Bambi put her pantaloons on?

I lost interest when he took them off because of his saggy ass.

I was halfway through EP 6 when I got bored and went to bed. I'll stick it out until the end but I've lost interest.

R37 - lol!

They break it off in the lil slut no?
by Anonymous | reply 42 | May 11, 2024 8:54 PM |
I thought Galitzine was good in this episode
by Anonymous | reply 43 | May 12, 2024 12:22 AM |
Started with a bang, but ends with a whimper. Starz/Sky had high hopes for this but people haven't really caught on.

Bit of let down especially Moore. Saw it in UK in March. Gave it a second chance. Opinion hasn't changed:
Just finished Mary and George. It is a wonderfully mounted production. Found the performances to be adequate. Few stand outs, Tony Curran in particular. The one major quibble I have is Nicholas Galatzine. He is stunning to look at in his period finery. I could readily accept why women and men would be seduced by him. Galitzine fills the bill. However to rise to be the most powerful man in England requires a bit more. Moore was miscast. The role needed Cate Blanchett or a young Helen Mirren. Moore was too bland.

R48, love it
by Anonymous | reply 50 | May 18, 2024 2:04 AM |
The rumor that Villiers poisoned James is discredited. George remained a bosom chum to James son Charles. In fact it was Charles who built Villiers opulent tomb in Westminster Abbey. Far better than what Daddy got and of course Charles got thrown in ditch holding his head. George Villiers must really have had something to beguile two kings. Galatzine didn't have it.

What was the song that was playing at the end?
by Anonymous | reply 52 | May 18, 2024 7:28 PM |
George and Mary were well-acted. Curran was magnificent. The ending was absurd.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | May 18, 2024 7:36 PM |
Agree about Curran
by Anonymous | reply 54 | May 18, 2024 10:08 PM |
It's an odd show--I'm now three episodes in. It's very sexy and the men who play the king's favorites (like Laurie Davidson) are quite hot, but I find George to be pretty much a beautiful vacuum, and Mary is just over-the-top as a character. I find her disappointing when compared to Samantha =Morton's Catherine de Medici on "The Serpent Queen," who is much more believable and nuanced.
