Golden Bachelor Gerry and Theresa Divorcing

Guessing that there was some truth to the HOLLYWOOD REPORTER article about Garry's secret girlfriend (published just before the finale):

Oh, gosh a fake reality show relationship breaks up.

His daughters look mean, they are probably possessive of him and didn’t want him moving.

I think she wanted to return to regular life and he signed up with a talent agency and is chasing fame.

THAT’S who he picked after all the hoopla that series produced? She’s a dog, way out of his league, but maybe that ‘s why the producers maybe pressured him to pick her?

There’s a persistent fantasy afoot where good-looking men become enamored of plain women. I just saw that at work yesterday in a movie I hated, “La Chimera” directed by the flavor-of-the-year Alice Rohrbacher. Josh O’Connor is enamored of one exceptionally doggy woman and then becomes briefly infatuated by an even uglier one. The movie is a shambles, but O’Connor is good and even looks attractive despite his director’s attempt to make him look as ugly as the rest of the cast.

Perhaps that’s why I see a similar impulse at work here.

R8 Be that as it may, she's got money, and that was why he chose her. I'm ashamed to say, I watched this, the only bachelor I've ever seen. It was pretty clear he was going to choose Prince's ex gf and he was sitting, bored, with Theresa, and then she mentioned her investments....and his eyes lit up, and he dumped Leslie.

He lied about so much. His whole shtick was that he was alone after his wife died and looking for love when in reality he was in a few relationships, one long term relationship starting a month after his wife died. They called him a restaurateur when in reality he owned a little burger joint back in the 80's and his last job was as a maintenance man.

It finally hit me who Teresa Nist has reminded me of all of this time - Katherine Helmond from Soap, Who’s the Boss and Everybody Loves Raymond.

The body language on the wedding photo at OP shows that he wasn't into her. She's turned towards him and leaning into him. He is standing up straight, body leaned slightly into hers, but mostly facing forward. His left hand looks awkward.

Gerry got nominated for a Critic's Choice Award for reality series. He is up against Alan Cummings, Eugene Levy, and RuPaul and Gerry has to be loving the attention.

According to Carolyn, the woman he started dating a month after his wife's death, he wouldn't let her go with him to his high school reunion because he said she'd gained weight, which would embarrass him.

Some people want a punching bag and others want to be punched. I read the account of the woman who left her job and moved in with him. After she showed up he demanded she pay rent. He asked for a ridiculous sum, she negotiated down. Very dumb, very desperate and no, he's not worth paying for.

I want to hear from Gerry's daughters. I bet they're disappointed, having a rich gran would have been good for their kids. Now they need to worry about users trying to hook up with him. Conversely, I bet Theresa's kids are breathing a sigh of relief. Anyone who saw the last eps and how Gerry's eyes lit up when Theresa was mentioning having money, can see what a cad he is.

His daughters cover for him. He doesn't like overweight women yet his daughters and grand daughters are all overweight. I think those daughters are going to ward off any women who come close.

R8 Have you seen the guy's face? He looks like Wallace, but without the beautiful character. You've got a weird double standard going on there.

Before the show started when he had a spray tan, they put some color in his hair and styled it, and dressed in a well fitted suit he looked better.

He really knew how to play to the camera when they introduced him. He came off as humble, caring and ready for a relationship.
