Can someone remind me why our resident "Heartstopper" stans despise Sebastian Croft? Is it just jealousy because he supposedly dated Joe Locke? I wasn't crazy about "How To Date Billy Walsh," but Croft did a surprisingly good job playing a nerdy straight kid in love with his best (female) friend, and Tanner Buchanan was hot AF, especially with his much-improved hair (which has always looked weird on "Cobra Kai").
Slightly weird part: this movie would be rated R solely because of the dozens of "fucks" in its dialogue. Meanwhile, "Red, White & Royal Blue" was intended to be PG-13! (I read the book as well. It's *way* more sex- and cuss-filled, but I noticed that despite showing two guys fucking (albeit without nudity), the movie version excised every single F-bomb.
OTOH the plot of this movie was entirely absurd, though not quite "Red, White & Royal Blue" absurd. Tanner's character relocates to the UK for his final *month* of school, and from the US, because his dad had a business trip?!? OH COME ON. He'd stay in L.A. & graduate there, particularly since his character was likely 18 (and a legal adult).
Irony definitely noted that they ripped off the lovey social media graphics from "Heartstopper," but OTOH their most brazen theft from "Raiders of the Lost Ark," with a female student writing "LOVE YOU" on her eyelids for Billy. Anyway, apologies if there's already a thread on this, but I searched & couldn't find one (though I know it's been having problems for a while now).
Anyone else seen it yet?
