Billie Lourd Celebrates Her Grandmother Debbie Reynolds

If anyone can be called “Hollywood Royalty,” it’s this young woman (even if I haven’t been totally convinced by her own foray into acting). Wild that she has two children, considering she still looks like a child herself.

I normally have a lot to say but this left me totally bereft. What an amazing family and I will continue rooting for Billie at every turn.

She’s adorable.

She was really mad when she didn't get Carrie's share of Debbie's estate.

Who got it?

I'm guessing Todd Fisher, Carrie's brother. Carrie predeceased her mother by one day so he received the entire estate.

Excluding Uncle Todd and the Fisher girls via Cricket Stevens from Carries Star of Fame ceremony made me dislike Billie. Seemed petty. Or vindictive. Plus she's a lousy actress.

I'm surprised there is anything left of the estate after reading Debbie's book.

I think Lourde got two things:

1. Carrie Fisher's estate

2. Carrie Fisher's share of Reynolds' estate.

She should get the estate. She didn’t get an ounce of the talent.

OMG a child of Hollywood who is actually NORMAL! It's like seeing a unicorn. She seems like a very sweet, independent young woman who dose not have all the psychological damage her mother had and was not damaged by them which is how most kids of celebrities turn out. I guess you have to credit the parents for at least being decent enough for raising her like that.

How much raising did Carrie actually do? I vaguely remember something about Bryan Lourd having primary custody.

The only thing I ever saw her in was that Julia Roberts movie and she was pretty funny in that. With a face like that she's a strictly supporting actress material but unlike many other nepo babies she's not totally talent-free.

No resemblance whatsoever to either Carrie or Debbie, but especially zero resemblance to Debbie.

Amazing Debbie left that large an estate when Todd says in his book she was living in her car at one point.

I wonder how much Bryan Lourd poisoned Billie against Todd, Joely and Tisha Leigh? Todd was the one that pushed Carrie to get the star on the walk of fame and got the mandatory waiting period for posthumous stars waived. Joely and Todd both wrote books, but neither one was mean or salacious.

Todd's book did mention walking in on Bette Davis when she was on the toilet.

I often think of how Todd wrote that the Asian couple who worked for his mom couldn't say his name so they called him "Ta Fish."

I don't think Todd Fisher screwed her out of anything, r22. Debbie Reynolds wanted her estate to go to her children. I think it was greedy of Billie Lourd to demand that Carrie's piece go directly to her instead of Debbie's only surviving child. It's not like she needed the money.

It would be more normal for Carrie's share of Debbie's estate to go to Billie. Per stirpes or by representation is more common than per capita, which was what Todd wanted.

My aunt was pissed because of this. My mom predeceased my grandmother. My mom's share of my grandmother's house passed down to me (and my siblings). I could see that my aunt (mom's sister) was upset by this when my grandmother died.

However, my aunt has two children and I'm sure that if the tables were turned, she would have wanted her 2 children to inherit her (aunt's) share of grandma's house.

Other than that, I also root for Billie but wish she would get some diction lessons and maybe try to expand her vocabulary. Maybe that's why Ryan Murphy always has her playing dumb in her AHS appearances.

I think Billie is a trooper for promoting this--I like how she's able to speak so positively of her family and legacy. I agree that she's not terribly articulate--probably not a reader of books. How many times can she say "incredible"? Still. I appreciate that she is aware of her family legacy and seems to be only proud of it.

Debbie had several flop ventures like a Vegas hotel and and dance studios. From what I remember, she didn't want to sell off her costume/memorabilia collection but ended up having to. One of the sales brought in at least 20 million.

Carrie pursed her lips like that because she wore dentures for at least the last decade of her life. She admitted this, including the fact that she had her teeth pulled so she could get opiate prescriptions each time she did so.

I think Billie's eyes look just like Carrie's, and her wee nose is similar to Debbie's.

It's Debbie's fault, really. Any sane person could have foreseen the possibility of their drug-addicted child dying before them.

When we updated our wills, it was part of the questionnaire: if a sibling/heir dies, does their share go to their heir or is the share added to the bequest to other surviving siblings/heirs? A pretty basic consideration.

I went to her casino in Vegas. It was small. But Debbie was there, looking immaculate, giving the illusion she didn't have a care in the world. And she put on a show. It was a small theater and she showed off some of her movie costumes which would appear from behind curtains. IIRC she had the Marilyn dress right there in the lobby. You could tell the place was doomed. They didn't have enough cash flow to get a gaming license. In Todd's book it sounded like he spent most of his time trying to save both Debbie and Carrie. They tried so hard to get the MGM costumes into a museum, an honorable thing to do, so I'm glad she ended selling it piecemeal and making a fortune. Todd deserves something. Billie is doing okay. She will inherit all of her father's hundred million, which will be a lot more when the time comes.

I've heard that Todd has a savior complex and was more of a burden to his mother and sister than any help to them. He has no track record of any successes other than managing his mother's collection. You'd think a 65 year old Hollywood nepo-baby would have more to show for his life 🤨

I read this a while back. It's a "novel" written by Byron Lane, Carrie's gay assistant. She couldn't remember his name so she called him "Cockring." It's a great portrait of the family and also of the lives of personal assistants working for the biggest names in showbiz. They have a club where they get drunk and trash their bosses.

I looked at a few videos of Debbie Reynolds talking about Elizabeth Taylor--over the years Debbie handled this in a way that I admire. She was honest and sympathetic and funny. There is a lot to admire about the women in that family.

Can you provide a link to back up that claim, r60? I found ONE interview where she talks about the 2 AM Christmas decorating and she does not mention drugs.
