I hope he does some research this time.

by Anonymousreply 3April 2, 2024 4:00 AM

r3 Care to explain?

by Anonymousreply 4April 2, 2024 4:06 AM

R4, it seems to me that Alan doesn't do research for his interviews. Even when he's interviewing PG folks, which is his bread & butter, he gets stuff wrong or he asks questions that no one watching these interviews cares about.

I didn't criticize him for a long time because this was his thing and no one else was doing it and it was somewhat fun and kind of original, during the pandemic. But now that his interviews have become a thing, I wish he'd research more.

He also can't seem to segue one question into another or follow up on an interesting point. There are still, after all this time, a lot of awkward pauses.

by Anonymousreply 5April 2, 2024 4:13 AM

I wonder if he'll bring up her having to add ten years onto her age at the recommendation of an agent when she first started out in LaLa Land. She was just a young teen but had developed early and would not be taken seriously in auditioning for roles her age and so she was told to add ten years onto her age and voila Electra Woman here we come!

by Anonymousreply 6April 2, 2024 4:48 AM

I don’t know her, I suspect most people don’t

by Anonymousreply 7April 2, 2024 5:07 AM

I wonder if Allison will make a cameo? Deidre was undoubtedly her biggest champion on the show in the early days.

In the first three years, Sami was not received by fans well AT ALL who criticized the actress's looks, and said she was not worthy to play Marlena's daughter.

Deidre was supportive and cordial in the press. Saying she loved Allison, and she was thrilled to see her development as an actress, and she was a consummate professional.

by Anonymousreply 8April 4, 2024 3:53 AM

consNUmate professional

by Anonymousreply 9April 4, 2024 3:56 AM

Deidre looks amazing in her interview, legit in her 30s. She'll be mistaken for a Gen Z if she holds back the years anymore.

by Anonymousreply 10April 6, 2024 1:34 PM

Her plastic surgeon should really get the Congressional Medal of Honor. Her work has been exquisite over the years.

by Anonymousreply 11April 6, 2024 1:38 PM

Mrs Locher was quite the hottie herself when she was a fresh-faced intern at ABC.

I love it how she called Drake "delicious". What a great description. I also got the feeling that maybe she didn't care a whole lot for Jed Allan. She didn't say anything mean about him, it was all nice words, but it was just a feeling.

by Anonymousreply 13April 6, 2024 1:51 PM

I think Jed did an interview at some point when he was either on SB or GH about how he was kind of "I'm too good for soaps" when he was on DAYS so I could see her not exactly warmly reminiscing about him.

The fact that DAYS wrote him out by sending Don Craig to the mailbox and never coming back......says something, I'm sure.

(And where are Neil? Liz? Noelle?)

by Anonymousreply 14April 6, 2024 2:02 PM

I love Dee

by Anonymousreply 15April 6, 2024 4:23 PM

We are obsessed with D-list actresses though aren’t we

by Anonymousreply 16April 6, 2024 4:25 PM

Dee is not D list. I would say C+. She is known outside of daytime. If you say the name Deidre Hall, a good cross section of people would know who she is. She not designer send her a dress to wear or an invite to the Vanity Fair party famous, but her name will get her a good table at The Ivy.

by Anonymousreply 17April 6, 2024 5:20 PM

Sally Fields

Christopher Reeves

by Anonymousreply 18April 6, 2024 5:30 PM

There’s already talk about Sami being recast.

When the likes of Zendaya, Timothee, The Rock, and the Kardashians are considered A list, then D list can be pretty damn good.

Neil's dead, Liz is back for Doug's funeral and Noelle, who knows?

That would be a huge mistake. There is only one Sami. I thought it was a mistake when they recast EJ, the guy playing him now has none of the charisma of the original.

by Anonymousreply 23April 6, 2024 5:51 PM

Imas and JE on Melaswen.

Deidre signing to ABC over NBC to produce and screen her bio "Never Say Never", must have ruffled a few feathers at both networks.

NBC originally agreed to make the movie and hired a woman named Nancey Silvers to write it. Deidre did not like that treatment of the story and asked her husband novelist Steve Sohmer to rewrite it.

The NBC option later lapsed so she held a meeting with ABC who agreed to produce it.

When it aired on ABC, Oprah devoted a full-hour special on her show for Deidre and the movie.

by Anonymousreply 26April 7, 2024 5:05 AM

When they promoted The Dee Dee Hall Story on Oprah, there was an early web chat at Harpo Studios after the screening.

One of the first questions to Dee was a slightly impersonal question that seemed to rattle her a little bit, which implied lesbianism. Deidre handled it professionally and just kind of brushed it off. This was in the early days of Saint Oprah, after she had just cleaned up her show and studio.

by Anonymousreply 27April 7, 2024 5:15 AM

R13 Jed Allen is long rumored to be the co-star she didn't get along with. She always speaks well about him along professional lines, but not into superlatives like she does about people she loves.

by Anonymousreply 28April 7, 2024 8:20 AM

I don't think she and Jed had problems, they were both shocked when 'Roman' came on swept Marlena away. Wayne Northrop was considered a 'find' because he'd been the chauffer on Dynasty. I think initially Dee had a problem with Drake's poor acting, she was always hoping Wayne would return to the role. Making it worse, Drake's wife hated Dee with a thousand suns. Then, when Dee and Drake's popularity started to come together, Dee lauded him. It's all about success. Then Wayne got canned. Dee's smile and sighs didn't miss a beat.

by Anonymousreply 29April 7, 2024 9:17 AM

Didn't Wayne quit? Twice? He was a guest actor in her Never Say Never story

by Anonymousreply 30April 7, 2024 9:34 AM

I don't why but it kind of surprises me that she and Judi Evans are so close. I get Dee and Susan Hayes and Dee and Jane Elliot, but Judi just seems like an outlier to me. Not that Judi doesn't seem like a lovely person. I also had no idea that Dee was so devout.

by Anonymousreply 31April 7, 2024 1:20 PM

Remember when Dee returned in 1991, she insisted Wayne be re-hired and he came with her, the idea being Drake was the 3rd wheel. Drake was hot where Wayne (honestly) was not, and he already had a huge following, so Days was in a bind. How anyone could have mistaken the much taller Drake for Wayne, lol. Dee went with the flow and realized Marlena and 'John' had more popularity than Marlena and Roman.

As a sidebar for Dee's cuntiness, when she came back she insisted on a dressing room with a shower and Drake had to give his up for her.

by Anonymousreply 32April 7, 2024 2:11 PM

Wayne was hot in his way, but Drake was definitely porn star hot when he first started.

by Anonymousreply 33April 7, 2024 2:14 PM

R32 I don't think she insisted, the network courted her back with a very sweet deal. They weren't going to have their leading lady slumming it. I heard Drake was happy to offer it up.

R33 do you think Marlena subconsciously tricked herself into believing John was Roman? I always find these identical twin/impersonator storylines amusing as the second person must have an identical cock!

by Anonymousreply 34April 7, 2024 3:08 PM

John was so fucking beautiful who could blame Marlena.

by Anonymousreply 35April 7, 2024 3:29 PM

I thought Dee was black

I can't watch those Locher Room interviews even though he has people that it's great to hear from, I always end up turning them off. He's not quite Skip E. Lowe but he's not Barbara Walters or Mike Wallace either, or even Oprah.

by Anonymousreply 37April 7, 2024 4:21 PM

He's an atrocious interviewer - asks dull PR safe questions, talks over his guests, constantly repeats the same inanities ("oh, I LOVE that")

I give him credit for trying but 4 years later he hasn't gotten any better.

by Anonymousreply 38April 7, 2024 4:33 PM

I don't expect him to ask about her nude modeling days, but he could have asked...

- What lead to you returning to the show in 91

- Can you elaborate on the planned Marlena spin off

-What were your thoughts on leaving the show for buget cuts?

-Is there a story you would like to play?

I get annoyed the most when he interviews PG people.

by Anonymousreply 39April 7, 2024 4:41 PM

He was just ridiculously hot back in the day, plus that deep voice of his.

Did he ask her about her friendship with Mindy Cohn? Apparently, they are like 'this' (fingers crossed)

by Anonymousreply 41April 7, 2024 8:23 PM

I've never seen Alan before and I'm sorry to agree with the comments that he isn't much of an interviewer. Apart from the questions you can sense his awkwardness and reading his questions. A great interviewer should engage with the content of what their subject provides, not just wait til they can ask their next question

by Anonymousreply 42April 7, 2024 9:13 PM

Is she still shilling those greeting cards?

by Anonymousreply 43April 7, 2024 10:33 PM

DAYS doesn't pay what it used to!

by Anonymousreply 45April 7, 2024 10:36 PM
