R1 No, back then the season usually ended in late March or early April for a lot of shows, unless it was one of the shows that was doing 30 episodes a season (mostly comedies).

An example - the last year of MTM. 24 episodes, started in September and had a new episode every week except NYE. Ended in March.

I only caught the shoe in reruns when it was “Carol Burnett and Friends.” I didn’t realize it was more of a variety show with musical guests and the like. The syndicated version only showed the sketches.
