Sad last days: Gene Hackman

On the positive side- he's running for President.

[quote]Reclusive Gene Hackman, 94, and wife Betsy Arakawa, 62, spotted in first public outing together in decades

Here we go again with this shit. I swear they phrase it like that on purpose.

by Anonymousreply 1March 30, 2024 1:07 PM

Oh my God, if I only saw the pictures I never would’ve guessed that was Gene Hackman. 😞

by Anonymousreply 2March 30, 2024 1:09 PM

Can you get a good coffee at Speedway?

by Anonymousreply 3March 30, 2024 1:13 PM

All things considered, he actually looks pretty good for 94.

by Anonymousreply 4March 30, 2024 1:15 PM

i was going to say the same thing R4. A 94 year old who is independently mobile and can still go out to dinner, the gas station, etc. is doing pretty well. He seems to be in far better shape than Carter for example.

by Anonymousreply 5March 30, 2024 1:18 PM

I wonder if OP will be ambulatory at 94.

by Anonymousreply 6March 30, 2024 1:19 PM

I know dentures are rough for ancient palates, but, Gene, really.

And the old-man neck hair.

Tsk.

by Anonymousreply 7March 30, 2024 1:21 PM

Semper Fi

by Anonymousreply 8March 30, 2024 1:26 PM

OP, he played the president once in Absolute Power. One of our greatest actors, in my opinion.

by Anonymousreply 9March 30, 2024 1:29 PM

He looks fine and sends his love!

by Anonymousreply 10March 30, 2024 1:38 PM

He looks pretty good for 94, plus he has enough money to live well and a younger wife to care for him. Good for him.

He, and Robert Duval are two of my favorite actors. Always natural, always excellent.

by Anonymousreply 11March 30, 2024 1:41 PM

The fact that he's 94 and still out and about walking is pretty fantastic.

by Anonymousreply 12March 30, 2024 1:41 PM

He had a fascinating, interesting and fun life. Nothing sad about his last days except the setting of another human life. Journalists can be such dumb assholes.

by Anonymousreply 13March 30, 2024 1:54 PM

The “headline” here is from OP, r13.

by Anonymousreply 14March 30, 2024 2:00 PM

Sorry, my bad. Thanks for pointing that out, R14, without calling me a moran or calling for my death in a grease fire.

by Anonymousreply 15March 30, 2024 2:04 PM

I remember reading similar things about Doris Day being reclusive, but the tabloids would show pictures of her out and about running out town doing normal errands.

by Anonymousreply 16March 30, 2024 2:06 PM

To quote a Netflix show, "time is a motherfucker".

by Anonymousreply 17March 30, 2024 2:54 PM

R5, Jimy Carter is 99. There is a gigantic difference between 94 and 99 that a mere number might suggest.

Moreover, my mother who died at 93 looked light-years better.

I'm 12 years older than his wife but, though I love Gene Hackman the brilliant actor, couldn't see myself married to this 94-year-old man.

by Anonymousreply 18March 30, 2024 2:56 PM

"Jimmy"

by Anonymousreply 19March 30, 2024 2:57 PM

I’d imagine for any of us who make it, 94 will be our sad last days.

by Anonymousreply 20March 30, 2024 2:58 PM

Tawdry shit from the Murdoch rag.

by Anonymousreply 21March 30, 2024 3:04 PM

Should have the type of reputation that DeNiro and Pacino have in terms of acting legends.

by Anonymousreply 22March 30, 2024 3:10 PM

[quote]and a younger wife to care for him

If Hackman needs really care, it's hired. The wife is not qualified to take care of a 94 year old.

by Anonymousreply 23March 30, 2024 3:11 PM

Glad to see some RESPECT shown to this brilliant actor!!!

by Anonymousreply 24March 30, 2024 4:07 PM

It's too bad these NY Post links are digital. I need something to line the bottom of the birdcage or wrap stinky fish, which is all this paper is good for.

by Anonymousreply 25March 30, 2024 4:12 PM

Sad last days is bullshit. More like enjoying longevity. He has lived a long life, still has the ability to walk, enjoy himself as he is able and sees fit to. We should all be lucky enough to live to 94 and still be out and about, albeit slowly and carefully. If I am able to reach his age, still mobile, with enough funds to provide for my needs, I will count myself very fortunate.

Only our crazy culture examines 90+ year olds in terms of how they "look".

by Anonymousreply 26March 30, 2024 6:30 PM

OP, my tits are perky, and I’m in the grave.

Post your pics, bitch!

by Anonymousreply 27March 30, 2024 6:34 PM

Rupert Murdoch is similarly aged. Is he in his sad last days too?

by Anonymousreply 28March 30, 2024 6:43 PM

One of the best 2 or 3 actors of his generation internationally.

I saw him on Triple D on YouTube. He was a regular at a local diner and teased Guy Fieri about his hair.

by Anonymousreply 29March 30, 2024 6:51 PM

[post redacted because independent.co.uk thinks that links to their ridiculous rag are a bad thing. Somebody might want to tell them how the internet works. Or not. We don't really care. They do suck though. Our advice is that you should not click on the link and whatever you do, don't read their truly terrible articles.]
