Gypsy Rose Blanchard Announces Separation from Husband

Gypsy Rose Blanchard and her husband have called it quits.

Blanchard, 32, announced the split with Ryan Scott Anderson on Facebook.

The breakup news came just three months after Blanchard was released from Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri after serving more than eight years in prison for plotting to murder her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, with then-boyfriend Nicholas "Nick" Godejohn.

On Thursday, Blanchard shared an announcement via social media.

"People have been asking what is going on in my life. Unfortunately my husband and I are going through a separation and I moved in with my parents home down the bayou. I have the support of my family and friends to help guide me through this. I am learning to listen to my heart. Right now I need time to let myself find… who I am," she wrote in a statement obtained by PEOPLE from her private Facebook account.

The couple tied the knot in a jailhouse ceremony with no guests in July 2022.

In an interview with PEOPLE ahead of her early release in December 2023, Blanchard said she planned to marry the Louisiana middle school special education teacher again after her release.

"We do plan on having a reception/redo wedding with all of our family and our friends and the dress and the cake and everything because we deserve that. I deserve that. He deserves that," she said. "Our prison wedding was just something to where we can make our vows to each other. It was something that meant something to us. And I think the party is kind of for everybody else and us, but mostly for everybody else."

At the time, Blanchard said she was excited about moving in with Anderson and starting their life together.

“I’ve never lived with a man,” she said. “I grew up with a mom, so I didn’t even grow up with a dad in the house. So, I’m like, ‘I don’t even know what it’s like to live with a man.’”

Blanchard was charged with the killing of her mother Dee Dee who was found dead in June 2015.

Her then-boyfriend, Nick Godejohn, was also charged with the slaying.

After the arrests, it was discovered that Dee Dee subjected Gypsy to unnecessary medical treatments and convinced her daughter and others that her daughter had a litany of illnesses as a child. In court, it was argued Gypsy was a victim of Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a form of child abuse that involves a guardian exaggerating or inducing illness to gain sympathy.

Gypsy pleaded guilty in 2016 and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Godejohn was sentenced to life in prison without parole in 2019 following his trial conviction for first-degree murder, the Springfield News-Leader, KY3 and KOAM reported at the time.

Earlier this month, Blanchard shared a video on TikTok before deleting her social media platforms. In the video, she apologized to “all the people that I offended with a lack of accountability, the first month or so that I was out of prison and the lack of accountability in my interviews, I'm sorry. I'm learning. I take accountability for my part, and I'm saying this right now. I'm taking accountability. I did a bad thing."

A source explained to PEOPLE that she deleted her accounts “at the advisement of her parole officer, so she won’t get in trouble and go back to jail."

At least she didn’t convince someone else to kill him. She’s growing.

by Anonymousreply 1March 29, 2024 10:06 AM

I’m glad they at least took a stab at being a couple, but sometimes it’s best to know when to cut things off. I hope she can meat someone new who can help heal her wounds and carve a new path that will bring her happiness.

by Anonymousreply 2March 29, 2024 10:23 AM

I absolutely knew this would not last a year but 3 months is even shorter than I expected. Gypsy is not a good person and I never bought her poor me story, even though her mother was a piece of shit Gypsy is responsible for her death.

by Anonymousreply 3March 29, 2024 5:16 PM

That she couldn’t keep a marriage together for long makes her appear unstable.

by Anonymousreply 4March 29, 2024 5:39 PM

Did GRB have a bad upbringing and a witch for a mother? Yes. Her mother was shitty but I also believe that GRB could have gotten away from her situation without it resulting in murder, so I don't have that much empathy for her. I have the same opinion for the Menendez brothers - no sympathy for their so-called murder out of fear. I really got disgusted with her appearances post-release from prison and then bragging about her sex life with this new husband. Urf.

Not sure who is the bigger social media whore - him or her. Whoever it is, I hope that she gets away from being online and just relaxes for a while.

by Anonymousreply 5March 29, 2024 5:49 PM

I never felt any positive feelings towards Gypsy - I took her for a grifter, just like mommy. She hooks up with a brain-damaged mental case who has multiple personalities and she thought it was all going to be sunshine and lollipops? She hints that she wants her mother dead to this wackjob and doesn't think he'll do it? She should have gotten more jail time, IMO. Then she gets out with some mess of a husband and goes onto talk shows and Twitter bragging about having millions of followers? She's almost as trashy as Mama June.

I have nothing but schadenfreuede for her and the dissolution of her marriage.

by Anonymousreply 6March 29, 2024 5:55 PM

I actually think this is in her husband best interest she is toxic and will destroy him.

by Anonymousreply 7March 29, 2024 6:04 PM

Never get involved with anyone named Gypsy.

You gotta get a gimmick!

[quote] Blanchard, 32, announced the split with Ryan Scott Anderson on Facebook.

Speaking of split, Ryan looks like he could subdivide several times and still be considered overweight.

by Anonymousreply 11March 29, 2024 7:13 PM

What really bothers me about Gypsy Rose story is how she was given a relatively light sentence while her ex-boyfriend got life without parole. I think if they were willing to accept Gypsy's abuse as a mitigating circumstance then they should have done the same for his intellectual disability. His IQ is about 80 and he's probably autistic.

by Anonymousreply 12March 29, 2024 7:56 PM

All I see is a manipulative woman who is manipulating others just like her mother.

by Anonymousreply 13March 29, 2024 8:20 PM

He’ll be back on BiggerCity tomorrow.

by Anonymousreply 14March 29, 2024 8:55 PM

Now maybe they can each focus on their modelling careers.

by Anonymousreply 15March 29, 2024 9:05 PM

So Gypsy is single again?

by Anonymousreply 16March 29, 2024 9:10 PM

I wonder if she ever be a healthy adult. She spent her first 23 years under her psychotic mother's thumb and then went to prison. She's basically a less likeable Kimmy Schmidt.

by Anonymousreply 17March 29, 2024 10:15 PM

She likes the fame and attention she gets from her involvement with the murder of her mother.

by Anonymousreply 18March 29, 2024 10:44 PM

Who the fuck are these ugly fucks -- am I supposed to know?

by Anonymousreply 19March 29, 2024 11:07 PM

Does she live with her father and his second wife? I don’t see how she can live a life on her own.

She’s a messed up person. Tho maybe I’m assuming too much.

by Anonymousreply 20March 30, 2024 12:20 AM

[quote]"I’m like, ‘I don’t even know what it’s like to live with a man.’”

Apparently not as much fun as she thought it would be.

by Anonymousreply 21March 30, 2024 12:25 AM

It’s all in a name

by Anonymousreply 22March 30, 2024 12:55 AM

She misses all that prison pussy.

by Anonymousreply 23March 30, 2024 2:28 AM

Can you see her raising a kid? I wonder if she would strive to be the best mother possible after being raised by a monster, or would her severe trauma, lack of education and general white trashy-ness prevent her from putting her children first.

I know she wrote a book -- let's hope she still has some of that money to fall back on, cause who's gonna hire her? I pray that she doesn't go the route of that Teen Mom Farrah, who had a kid, got implants and a nose job and started doing porn.

by Anonymousreply 24March 30, 2024 4:05 PM

I hope that no sketchy production team gets ahold of her and pitches a reality show, which you know this woman will take for the dollars. She has no education, has never worked, has been in jail for murder, is living with family, just got divorced. Unless she learned a trade in prison, what can she do? I'm sure she would jump on a reality show for a quick payday. I could see her dad try to gave advice, but she's grown and probably would want whatever fee is offered.

The only thing that may put a damper on crafting a show for Gypsy is that she has such a nasty past and nothing going on currently - no husband or kids or job to focus on, no siblings or a crew of friends to hang out with. What would they film to fill the time? Let her go to prisons and talk to inmates? Please, do not have her going out on dates!

[quote] Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Ex-Fiance Ken Get Matching Tattoos After Ryan Anderson Split

Seeking comfort with a former flame? Gypsy Rose Blanchard reunited with ex-fiancé Ken Urker at a tattoo shop in Louisiana following her split from husband Ryan Anderson, and the two reportedly walked out with matching ink.

Gypsy, 32, met up with Ken at Sailor Bob's Tattoo shop in Cut Off, Louisiana, on Monday, April 1, an eyewitness revealed to TMZ on Tuesday, April 2. The outlet shared a photo of the former prison inmate sitting beside her ex and watching closely as he got something tattooed on his forearm.

Sources told the publication that Gypsy and Ken received matching husky tattoos — one on one person’s left arm and one on the other person’s right arm so that the dogs would face each other when the arms were put together. This symbolized Gypsy and Ken’s bond, according to the insiders. Ken allegedly paid for both tattoos.

Ken’s mother, Raina Williams, confirmed the tattoo outing to People on Tuesday, adding that the pair also went to lunch. However, she denied that the exes were back together.

"They're very cool. Ken is just being a supportive friend to her and that's it,” Raina told the outlet. She later added, "As of right now, there is no plans on a romantic scale right now.”

Gypsy and Ken’s reunion came days after the Louisiana native, who married Ryan, 37, while behind bars in June 2022, reportedly announced her split from her husband.

“People have been asking what is going on in my life,” Gypsy allegedly wrote on March 28 in a private Facebook post obtained by People. “Unfortunately my husband and I are going through a separation and I moved in with my parents home down the bayou. I have the support of my family and friends to help guide me through this. I am learning to listen to my heart. Right now I need time to let myself find… who I am.”

Before Ryan came along, Gypsy was engaged to Ken, whom she met in 2017 while serving time for her involvement in mom Dee Dee Blanchard’s murder. He wrote to her at Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri after he saw HBO’s documentary about her case, Mommy Dead and Dearest, and they became pen pals.

Ken proposed to Gypsy during a visit to the prison in 2018. They planned to wed in January 2020, but the former couple called off their engagement four months before they were set to exchange vows. Gypsy and Ken briefly reunited before calling it quits again.

In her eBook, Released: Conversations on the Eve of Freedom, which was released in January, Gypsy claimed that Ken broke things off after Hulu’s The Act came out, showing a dramatized version of her life.

“I was transformed into a pseudo-celebrity,” she wrote of the way the public treated her after the series was released. “My personal life became public, which was really hard on Ken. Clickbait articles appeared mockingly announcing our engagement. Ken was a private person and didn’t want the attention or the scrutiny. While I understood and shared in his sentiment, I took it hard when he ended our relationship.”

Ken’s mom told People of their split, "My son has never had any kind of ill intentions towards Gypsy. It devastated him when they broke up the first time. But he truly thought that was what was best for Gypsy."

[quote]R25 I hope that no sketchy production team gets ahold of her and pitches a reality show… Please, do not have her going out on dates!

She could do a show like “A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila,” where a bunch of male and female suitors are on an island with her, competing for her hand?

by Anonymousreply 27April 3, 2024 9:32 PM

The girl is beyond fucked up because of that horrible beast of a mother. I'm no fan of Gypsy but I don't see her as a threat to society. Her new bf is at least an upgrade. All those years in prison and she settled with that fat slob? She needs to now just stfu and live a simple life.

[quote] Reason For Gypsy Rose Blanchard's Separation From Ryan Anderson Revealed

Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Ryan Anderson recently announced their separation, and while it shocked many, we now know what allegedly went down.

The ex-convict and her estranged husband got married in a prison ceremony in 2022 while Gypsy was serving her sentence for her involvement in the murder of her mother. After completing 85% of her sentence, she was released on parole, where she was excited to start her life with Ryan.

The two moved in together and were even planning a "re-do" wedding, however, things soon took a turn.

A few days ago, Gypsy Rose announced her separation from Ryan in a Facebook post.

“People have been asking what is going on in my life. Unfortunately, my husband and I are going through a separation and I moved in with my parents’ home down the bayou,” Gypsy Rose told her fans. “I have the support of my family and friends to help guide me through this. I am learning to listen to my heart. Right now I need time to let myself find… who I am.”

This announcement came as a shock to many, but now an inside source is shedding light on what went down.

According to sources close to Gypsy, her estranged husband had allegedly become argumentative after she was released and as the two began living together. She also told friends and family that he was constantly making her feel like she couldn't do anything right and made her doubt herself.

Gypsy has reportedly felt suffocated by Ryan's "constant guilt-tripping" and she had enough.

Ryan has also been accused of being extremely jealous of Gypsy Rose spending time with her father. Per TMZ's sources, instead of being able to reconnect with her dad, Gypsy allegedly felt like Ryan made her feel guilty about not spending that time with him instead.

Rod Blanchard recently sat down with PEOPLE, opening up about Gypsy’s marriage, claiming he "gives it a 50/50 chance that it's going to work."

"She can be spontaneous and make a quick decision and just jump into things without thinking," he told the outlet.

But that's not all folks... because Ryan had only allegedly reached out to Gypsy on a dare, which had her inner circle extremely cautious and weary of the marriage.

This all feels like a complete 180 from when Gypsy was first released from prison, as she said she and Ryan were in love," though, she did admit, “It’s hard because I’m going into a new life and I’m newly married, and I’m going to have kids one day, and I’m going to have to explain to my kids why their grandmother on mommy’s side isn’t around. And that’s going to be a really hard conversation.”

Earlier this week, reports surfaced that Gypsy Rose got matching tattoos with her ex-fiance, Ken Urker, and while there was speculation surrounding the two getting together, there is no romance happening -- that is according to Ken's mom, Raina Williams.

Raina told TMZ that her son's intentions are pure, and she feels Ryan is untrustworthy and does not care for Gypsy the same way Ken does.

So why did Ken and Gypsy split? Well, his mom says Ken wanted Gypsy to experience life outside of prison before she made that big of a commitment to someone else, so they split in 2019.

While we still have some unanswered questions, we can look forward to hopefully getting more answers in the upcoming Lifetime documentary, 'Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up'.

"Gypsy Rose Blanchard has openly shared her life with Lifetime and our cameras from the moment she was paroled," the network recently shared. "Her story, including her relationship with Ryan, will continue to unfold on 'Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up', debuting this June on Lifetime."

Lifetime also released 'Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard', which focused on the childhood abuse Gypsy endured from her mother, who claimed she had several illnesses and diseases that she never had. She convinced doctors to perform unneeded surgeries and to prescribe medication that was not necessary.
