Prostate Cancer Advice - What Would You Do?
I was diagnosed with prostate cancer two years ago. It was the least aggressive cancer, so my urologist recommended monitoring - regular PSA tests and exams.
My last PSA test came back very elevated. My urologist wants to do another biopsy to see if the cancer is getting aggressive. I've already had three biopsies (they're not fun) and two MRIs.
I'm thinking I'd just like to have my prostate removed altogether. The cancer isn't going to disappear, and eventually, I'll probably have to have a prostatectomy, anyway.
What would you do? Any other DLers have similar experiences?

Talk to an oncologist that specializes in radio surgery. You want to get that shit before it can spread.
My dad had the radiation seed implant treatment 20 years ago, but it's come back and metastasized.

R1 I'm definitely not interested in any kind of radiation or chemo.

I leave the question to wider and more experienced hands, OP. I just want to say I’m sorry you have to go through this and hope you have good support.

R3 Thank you! I'm really not freaking out about it, but getting my man parts removed is a big decision, so I wanted to get other opinions.

Please don't base this major life decision on a half assed poll on DL, OP. Make an appointment with a specialist.

R5 I've seen two specialists on this. I'm just trying to get other people's thoughts on it.

My husband’s PSA was 48 when he first got tested at age 51. Spiked to almost 100 post biopsy. He was diagnosed w aggressive Gleason scale 9 prostate cancer. That 12 years ago. Metastasized. 2 reoccurrences. He opted for hormone therapy and a prostatectomy. His thinking, and I agreed, was that to do less and still have reoccurrence would leave him w doubts & regrets. The hormone therapy helped a lot, as it shrank the cancer and made surgery significantly less invasive. He is currently testing every 3 months, with twice a year scans. Find a doctor you hear & respect. Good luck OP.

In 2009, I was diagnosed with aggressive PC with a Gleason scale of 8. Consulted 3 doctors and decided on laprascopic prostatectomy. No further treatment was needed. I’m now considered cured with yearly antigen tests. Still enjoy healthy erections and dry orgasms. All the Kegel exercises bolstered my bottom reputation.
