Jon Stewart found to have overvalued his NYC home by 829%
In 2014, Stewart sold his 6,280-square-foot Tribeca duplex to financier Parag Pande for $17.5 million. The property’s asking price at that time is not available in listing records.
But according to 2013-2014 assessor records obtained by The Post, the property was market-valued at only $1.882 million. The actual assessor valuation was even lower, at $847,174.
Records also show that Stewart paid significantly lower property taxes, which were calculated based on that market value price.

This from people who clearly have no clue about how ad valorem property taxes are calculated or collected, much less the particulars in NYC.

You can sure tell on this thread who has never owned a house before. Jon Stewart didn't value his own property to get a loan or for tax valuation. The county assessor does that. Only the stupids would believe the two are comparable
Guess who the stupids on this thread are

Because the sale price has nothing to do with the property tax calculation. They are not linked.

If a conservative commits some crime, be assured that within a week or so, a liberal will be accused of doing the same thing.
It's the movement's way of muddying the water - to make those who aren't die-hard MAGA lunatics say "ah they're all like that" and tune out Trump's crimes.

If Jon Stewart took out any personal loans and listed that property as an asset there might be a problem. He needs to release all of his financial records.

Stewart sold it at the market price available. Trump is welcome to try to sell Mar a Lago for 1 BILLION dollars. He can't put the house up as 1 billion in worth against another loan.

There's not a planet in the universe where you could buy at 6000+ sq. ft. duplex in Manhattan for $1.8 million. Even if it was gutted it would go for much more than that.
And besides, I'm sure the buyer was savvy enough and had enough savvy real estate people he was working with that he wouldn't have paid what he did if the place wasn't worth that.

yOU show me in what fucking alternative universe a 6000+ sq foot duplex in Tribeca would be valued at 884K? Even in 2014. NYC real estate is and always has been high. Very very high. The poster is trying to do what aboutism. When Stewart sells, he uses a realtor who bases the price on comps in the area. He did not over-inflate the value to get lower interest rates on loans. The text should read JON STEWARD PERFORMS NORMAL REAL ESTATE TRANSACTION THROUGH LICENSED BROKER AND I SOMEHOW WANT IT TO EQUAL WHAT TRUMP IS GUILTY OF.

The value of a property is what someone is willing to pay for it in an arm’s length transaction.
The value for tax purposes is set by the City and is generally far lower than actual market value.

Typical Trumpian Trolls, project your actual crimes onto the Democrats or progressive, then whine about how both sides are the same. Ergo whatever Trump did was not that bad. Sorry MAGA trash, we are not playing that stupid game. Both sides ARE NOT THE SAME.
Jon Stewart engaged in the sale of a legal asset to the highest bidder.
Trump LIED about the condo to secure a loan inflating it THREE TIMES the size. That's ILLEGAL.
