Pornhub banned in Texas

Party’s over.

Popular adult streaming site Pornhub is currently blocking users in Texas following a lawsuit from Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton over the site's age-verification practices.

This is why god invented VPNs.

by Anonymousreply 7March 14, 2024 9:42 PM

Go back to fucking each other silly, of course!

by Anonymousreply 8March 14, 2024 9:44 PM

It's not going to affect Greg at all

by Anonymousreply 9March 14, 2024 9:44 PM

You know damn well, r7.

by Anonymousreply 10March 14, 2024 9:44 PM

I read on reddit that there's a company that wants to take over age verification in more states (they already provide services for Louisiana) and have given money to groups urging age verification laws. So, it might be a follow the money situation and Pornhub might be available in Texas with a new age verification system.

by Anonymousreply 11March 14, 2024 9:48 PM

Texas hold 'em, or not for now.

by Anonymousreply 12March 14, 2024 11:19 PM

R1 grow up,

None of us is a schoolgirl anymore.

by Anonymousreply 13March 14, 2024 11:20 PM

So much for parental rights and controls, I guess? And less government? And more importantly, is there a Republican who’s never heard of a VPN? It’s why banning Tik Tok is such an absurd notion. Pretty soon they’ll be outlawing the use of VPNs.

by Anonymousreply 14March 14, 2024 11:23 PM

There will be a rush of gay DVD sales in Texas.

by Anonymousreply 15March 14, 2024 11:23 PM

Corporate America needs an enema.

by Anonymousreply 16March 14, 2024 11:28 PM

by Anonymousreply 19March 14, 2024 11:31 PM

It's been blocked in Utah for like a year now.

by Anonymousreply 20March 14, 2024 11:41 PM

Montana and North Carolina are blocked too.

by Anonymousreply 21March 14, 2024 11:42 PM

We'll simply take control, as you disappear...

by Anonymousreply 22March 14, 2024 11:55 PM

“Age Verification” so they can have your ID to be exposed later? And used against you in the next rethug crusade?

by Anonymousreply 23March 15, 2024 12:00 AM

I hope the fundies go all out in banning pron. If you look at the usage statistics, the fundie nutbag stages are the highest users by far.

See how long their reigns of terror last.

I'm getting the popcorn.

by Anonymousreply 24March 15, 2024 12:03 AM

Popporn.

by Anonymousreply 25March 15, 2024 12:04 AM

Is there any difference between showing ID for alcohol or for an adult movie theatre? Once you have to prove your age/identity I would think it would be that much easier for various parties to access/use your porn history against you - potential employers, background checks, custody disputes, sexual harassment . . .

by Anonymousreply 26March 15, 2024 12:10 AM

What was the name of the adult verification service that was around in the late 90s/early aughts? I think it was around $20 and I think you entered a code that got you into the site.

There was a pretty devastating article in the NYT a few years ago about pornhubs lack of monitoring and pointing out a lot of illegal things were regularly uploaded.

by Anonymousreply 27March 15, 2024 12:17 AM

Yeah but there are about two quintillion other porn sites the CAN access. They’ll be fine.

by Anonymousreply 28March 15, 2024 12:27 AM

Pfffffft

by Anonymousreply 29March 15, 2024 12:29 AM

R15, most of which will be bought by Troy Aikman

by Anonymousreply 30March 15, 2024 12:30 AM

Someone better reopen the adult bookstores. Y'all got some cocksucking to do. Yeehaw! Actually, I wonder if people will get more into AR and VR sex worlds?

by Anonymousreply 31March 15, 2024 12:34 AM

So... in Texas you can't have a wank but you can openly carry a military grade semi-automatic machine gun around on your shoulder and just kill a bunch of people any time you feel like it!

Makes total sense right?

by Anonymousreply 32March 15, 2024 12:54 AM

Does Pornhub have "an" Onlyfans?

by Anonymousreply 33March 15, 2024 4:40 AM

Each other, R7

by Anonymousreply 34March 15, 2024 4:59 AM

Reading the article R11 & R26, Pornhub already chordates/works with a company in Louisiana that does the age verification.

The difference here is Texas wants PornHub to do it themselves

[quote]The Texas law requires adult sites to either use their own methods or a third-party service like Louisiana's to collect age-verification information like a government-issued ID. However, unlike Louisiana, Texas does not provide such a service. "(Aylo) draws the line at collecting and storing IDs itself," according to an article on Reason.com. "Rather than do so in states where it's currently the only way to comply, Aylo has instead blocked visitors from those states from viewing porn.”

Pornhub/Aylo most likely doesn't want to do it not only because it is a PITA, but the enormous liability they would be taking on. They would eventually get hacked, and those who signed up for PornHub's age verification would be leaked/blackmailed.

NordVPN is $2.99 a month for those DL Texans.

[quote]What will all the Texan "Pastors" and "Youth leaders" do now????

What does this have to do with porn? They aren't looking at porn, they're diddling children. Blocking pornhub won't stop them from being pedos. In fact, like everything the conservatards do, it will only make the problem worse. Denying aspiring youth pastors' access to dirty pictures will push them over the edge right to molesting, skipping the whole porn-addiction stage altogether.

by Anonymousreply 36March 17, 2024 3:13 PM

[quote]So... in Texas you can't have a wank.

R32 You don't need porn to masturbate.

by Anonymousreply 37March 17, 2024 3:20 PM

Google searches for ‘Texas VPNs’ rose by more than 1,700% in the days following Pornhub’s withdrawal.
