And Kevin Williamson is directing. This might be good.
Oh, God, enough is enough with this franchise.

Playing the same character for a few months every few years for a fat paycheck is career goals.

Her tomboy looks were cute when she was young, but her face has become increasingly Frankensteinian.
I thought those Scream movies were shit right out of the gate, never understood the appeal. And I’m a big horror fan.

I actually love this idea. To have Kevin Williamson directing is wonderful.
I really didn’t like the last 2 Scream movies and I’m glad that the finale of this trilogy will be an ending with the original characters.
They can kill off all the survivors of the last 2 movies and I wouldn’t care.

This is a welcome turn of events after the Barrera flap and the embarrassing pay dispute that shouldn't have happened in the first place. Paying Campbell what she's worth to the franchise wasn't going to break the bank.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | March 12, 2024 9:19 PM |
She literally has no better offers than to do this feces.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | March 12, 2024 9:21 PM |
Super happy about this. I detested the Core Four. At least this will be a Sidney story now (and hopefully a conclusion to the whole series).
I know it's been sloppy, but it hasn't involved multiple timelines and retcons like HALLOWEEN.

Isn’t she immobile with MS or something?
by Anonymous | reply 10 | March 12, 2024 9:28 PM |
Sure they offered her a shit ton of money but at least it gets us closer to the original format of the franchise. Now bring back Hayden and Patrick Dempsey. Who knows maybe Matthew Lillard will finally come back from the dead in this one.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | March 12, 2024 9:29 PM |
OP, you know damn well this will be awful.

lol. You obviously know nothing about his career. He’s terrible. He’s responsible for Scream 4, the film that killed the franchise. He couldn’t even get the script in on time. The last 4 Scream films were atrocious.

That's Christina Applegate, R10.

I once read a blind item that she was promised a role in some movie but in return she had to sleep with Alec Baldwin. In the end she didn't get the role but got told that after she already slept with him. I envied her because Alec is my type. I was so jealous.

I said I was done with the franchise after the shit fifth and sixth movies - now I may have to reconsider.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | March 12, 2024 9:32 PM |
How about a proper Wild Things sequel or redo? I'd be on board for that.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | March 12, 2024 9:35 PM |
Isn't that the Sharon Stone/Billy Baldwin tryst story, R15?
by Anonymous | reply 18 | March 12, 2024 9:35 PM |
R18 William Baldwin is even hotter. I am so horny now. I wish I were a hollywood actress and could sleep with all those older men R18

She doesn't look good. Poor woman -- whatever she had done didn't really flatter her face. It looks longer than it used to be.
Once upon a time, I thought she was one of the most beautiful actresses in the world. But I've always loved dark-eyed brunettes.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | March 13, 2024 12:08 AM |
All she had to do was back up her truck for the money they needed to pay her.
She had them over a barrel.

Her character in Scream is dumb. Spoiler Scream 2: She had a new boyfriend but when he got killed, her sad reaction was maybe 1 second and then she didn't care about him anymore. What a bitch.

R13 From what I know, Kevin Williams constantly lost interest in the sequels due to studio interference. He didn’t write “Scream 3”, the writer of that movie finished “Scream 4” due to Kevin clashing with the studio over the story,

I remember the hot douch bro actor in Scream 4 but nowadays he looks like Adam Lambert and says he is pansexual. I could handle it if he hadn't created a child with an asexual lesbian.

R9 The sequels post-trilogy deviate from the core plot of the original trilogy so there’s no reason to alter too much.
The original trilogy revolved around Maureen Prescott’s murder. The main killers in the first 4 were all linked in some way to Maureen.

I still don't think Scream 3 is a good movie, but it definitely has its charms. Time has led to a reconsideration of a movie produced by Harvey Weinstein that has a major plot point about a producer who abused women, also though the writer knew something. And Parker Posey is great.
But they were hurt because Neve's commitment to Party of Five limited her time on set, so they basically had to make Gale and Dewey the leads.

I watched the Scream trilogy movies for the first time in 2022 and I think Scream 3 was weird but at least still had an interesting 90s atmosphere. But the ending was annoying. I barely understood it. It wasn't complicated but it seemd like they invented that conclusion of who the murderer is and why he did it out of their asses.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | March 13, 2024 1:23 AM |
R28 “Scream 4” was close to the original idea for “Scream 3”. Stu was the mastermind planning the killings from prison. Matthew Lillard said he was actually paid for Scream 3 despite them changing it because of Columbine.

Or maybe R10 is thinking of Selma Blair. When she had dark hair, she looked similar to Campbell.

I have differing feelings on all of the Scream movies (and I do like them all to varying degrees), but If you were to put a gun to my head, I might honestly say that Scream 2 is actually better, which is somehow miraculous considering all the things that were working against it.
The scene of Gale, Dewey and Ghostface in the lecture hall is just phenomenally good. The shot of Dewey being attacked while Gale is trapped on the other side of soundproof glass and screaming silently...*chef's kiss*.

This is wonderful news for Scream fans and with Kevin Williamson at the head I don't see how you can go wrong. Sidney Prescott is as important to the franchise as Ghostface. Scream became pop culture because of the "Hello, Sidney" tagline, and before part 5 the franchise was about her and its very underrated how interesting and complex the Sidney character is, especially for a horror film. I personally feel that Neve is the best "final girl" of all time. Even better than Jamie Lee/Laurie Strode. I never did warm up to the hispanic " daughter " of Billy Loomis, what a ridiculous subplot that was and I'm glad she's gone now. Kevin created the franchise and with Wes Craven dead he's the only other one I trust to go forward. The only Scream films that suck are the ones he's barely involved in.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | March 13, 2024 2:03 AM |
The thing about Scream--particularly the first two--is that for the most part, you can subtract out the meta references and and still be left with a really good slasher. You want a master class in how to act in a horror movie, watch the cold open of the first film. Drew Barrymore is essentially acting against NOTHING, but you end up feeling for Casey. Again with the first two--they're both a good deal longer than the average slasher, but the plot never really drags.
[quote]Even better than Jamie Lee/Laurie Strode.
If you want one of the most clever scenes in any movie, watch the scene where Jamie Kennedy's Randy is watching Michael Meyers lurch around behind Laurie while Ghostface stalks around behind him. He talks back to the screen: "Look behind you, Jamie! Look behind you."
So, you have a character played by an actor named Jamie addressing a character in the movie by the actor's name, which is also Jamie, imploring her to do the exact action HE should doing. It's BRILLIANT.

Courtney Cox had a fantastic scene in 6 in her apartment battling a Ghostface. And she’s easier to look at now with her face settling.

I would be more excited about Kevin Williamson writing, but I love Neve, so it has me interested.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | March 31, 2024 12:03 AM |
I agree R37. I know some people hate 6 but I thought it was really good. Hands down Scream 6 has the best opening since the first film and the best chase sequences sine the first and second films.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | March 31, 2024 3:14 AM |
I have mixed feelings about how Sidney is written in these new movies. Some of it has potential, some of it doesn't fit her character (but I wouldn't mind that if it were more interesting). I think they want her to be conservative (family, policeman husband, living in Indiana, etc.) with a mama bear feminist twist.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | February 12, 2025 12:20 PM |
Sydney and Neve Campbell have never been engaging in the series. Th draw is is the mystery of the murderers, the murders themselves, and the humor of the series.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | February 12, 2025 2:46 PM |
R41 What! Sidney has some of the best showdowns in horror!
The most intense scenes outside of the introduction of the movies are her chases and showdowns with the killer.
The showdown between Billy and Stu, the police car scene in “Scream 2”, the whole theater scene with Billy’s Mom, the chase on the Hollywood set, etc.
I love Sidney.
