Well, shit. Wasn't expecting this.
Richard Chamberlain is dead to me

Link?
by Anonymous | reply 1 | March 10, 2024 6:41 PM |
I'm not seeing this reported anywhere. At you in his hospital room, OP? Maybe you forgot to call tmz first.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | March 10, 2024 6:43 PM |
It scrolled across my phone screen news app. I hope it's a rumor.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | March 10, 2024 6:46 PM |
I don’t see this anywhere.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | March 10, 2024 6:48 PM |
I hope this is not true.
His 90th birthday is at the end of this month.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | March 10, 2024 6:50 PM |
by Anonymous | reply 6 | March 10, 2024 6:50 PM |
I've never heard of the Chamberlain Sun, but that's the only "source" I saw reporting this.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | March 10, 2024 6:51 PM |
You're trash, OP.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | March 10, 2024 6:52 PM |
It seems like bullshit because the link in the sentence that starts "His death" leads to a completely unrelated story on their site of another actor (Robert Cormier) who died in 2022.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | March 10, 2024 6:54 PM |
It's so odd. It scrolled across saying Richard Chamberlain dead at 92 but now nothing. Maybe the press was too hasty. Oh, well, I'll be glad if it's false. Love him.

[quote]Richard Chamberlain, Acclaimed Actor of Stage and Screen, Dies at 92
Richard Chamberlain is alive and 89.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | March 10, 2024 6:58 PM |
r11 They probably got the news from that shady website I posted at r6 (The Chamberlain Sun). I don't see any indication that the site is legitimate and every search I pull up about it brings back questionable results. For instance, that article said he was born in 1931 but he was born in 1934. It's a very strange site. It might be entirely AI generated, honestly. The author may not even be a real person and the photo fake. If that's the case, it's very concerning.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | March 10, 2024 6:59 PM |
I'm still alive, you bitch!

[quote]Chamberlain Oacoma Sun began its journey in 2007 with the aim to provide unbiased news to millions of people across the nation. Our crew of experienced journalists, writers, and editors is dedicated to delivering all types of news, including entertainment, sports, science, technology, economy, and world news.
Why would a newspaper with an address in Bristol, Maine (pop. 3k) get the scoop on this? Especially when Oacoma is in South Dakota?
Sounds like a badly put together Russian website. That "unbiased news" in the description is a dead giveaway. The real question is why OP was perusing that website. Does he have a Google Alert for Chamberlain?
[quote]Into the depleted field of journalism in America, a handful of websites have appeared in recent weeks with names suggesting a focus on news close to home: D.C. Weekly, the New York News Daily, the Chicago Chronicle and a newer sister publication, the Miami Chronicle.
[quote]In fact, they are not local news organizations at all. They are Russian creations, researchers and government officials say, meant to mimic actual news organizations to push Kremlin propaganda by interspersing it among an at-times odd mix of stories about crime, politics and culture.
[quote]The fake news organizations, experts say, represent a technological leap in the Kremlin’s efforts to spread false and misleading narratives.

r15 It could also be a fake AI generated news site. Word in the tech-news streets is that 713 of these have popped up in February this year. An election year, no less.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | March 10, 2024 7:04 PM |
R15, have no clue what news site you are discussing or why a Russian news site would care about Richard Chamberlain.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | March 10, 2024 7:04 PM |
See? This is what I'm talking about. Question everything, folks.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | March 10, 2024 7:06 PM |
r17 Gurl, we're all talking about the website at r6 and r10, which is the only one carrying this news.
[quote]or why a Russian news site would care about Richard Chamberlain.
Jesus Christ, just read this one damn paragraph from the NYT article I linked to. Here once again, in bold for your comprehension in particular:
[quote]In fact, they are not local news organizations at all. Interesting that I had both R6 and R10 blocked already. Also R13, R16, and R18.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | March 10, 2024 7:11 PM |
[quote]It could also be a fake AI generated news site.
r16 It's not either-or. The Russians are using AI to generate these sites, hence the "technological leap" mentioned in the article at r15.
The fact that posters here reject that possibility outright and just call people paranoid after one of our posters literally just fell for a fake news story means the Russians have won half the battle already.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | March 10, 2024 7:11 PM |
Same here R20.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | March 10, 2024 7:15 PM |
Glad he's still around!
by Anonymous | reply 23 | March 10, 2024 7:17 PM |
I would have assumed it was the new Shōgun adaptation that did it.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | March 10, 2024 7:19 PM |
Everyone please FF and delete this thread. It's BS.
Muriel! EDITOR!
by Anonymous | reply 25 | March 10, 2024 7:21 PM |
Hope he's ok.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | March 10, 2024 7:30 PM |
Check his pulse again
by Anonymous | reply 27 | March 10, 2024 7:31 PM |
I hope this doesn't affect his burgeoning recording career!
by Anonymous | reply 28 | March 10, 2024 7:33 PM |
He's not dead, he just hasn't found the right girl.

[quote]Interesting that I had both [R6] and [R10] blocked already. Also [R13], [R16], and [R18]
r20 Which is why you didn't learn a goddamn thing about the AI generated fake news websites I mentioned. By all means, remain in the dark because you can't take opposing opinions on other topics. Clearly.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | March 10, 2024 7:48 PM |
I smell stinking, rotting gash!
Oh, no. That's just R30.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | March 10, 2024 7:51 PM |
r31 No. Your mom just need to be changed. Get off of DL, go back upstairs, and stop neglecting your caretaker duties before someone calls APS, you ingrate.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | March 10, 2024 7:54 PM |
As has been posted elsewhere, there was a time “Dick Chamberlain” used to post here. I remember “conversating” with him.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | March 10, 2024 7:56 PM |
R32 Oh, what a clever retort! Even if it's riddled with bad grammar.
Your caregiver will be there soon, I'm sure, to give you your hosedown for the week. No matter how much you stomp your hooves, they simply must bathe you, for your sake and for society's sake, too.

[quote]Even if it's riddled with bad grammar.
r34 Oh, no! There's a typo where the 's' is missing on the end of the word "needs." The entire reply is absolutely "riddled with bad grammar" due to one missing letter. Certainly I should be tarred and feathered for making such a grave error.
Let's also ignore the irony of retorting with grammar policing to ridicule an intentionally low-rent "Your momma" comeback. Because employing an insult based on female genital odor is an example of classic DL wit and originality. 10 points to you!
by Anonymous | reply 35 | March 10, 2024 8:51 PM |
I'm disappointed the Chamberlain Sun doesn't mentioned Shogun.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | March 10, 2024 8:57 PM |
Thanks to R31, I can read R30. Actually I did learn (from other posts) all I needed to know about the fake news sites, namely that they're fake, which I probably would have figured out myself if I'd chanced upon them. This really isn't a question of "not being able to take opposing opinions," it's more a question of ignoring obvious trolling.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | March 10, 2024 9:02 PM |
YouTube is now rife with AI generated crap.

[quote]This really isn't a question of "not being able to take opposing opinions," it's more a question of ignoring obvious trolling.
I don't troll on here. So, it absolutely has to do with not being able to take opposing opinions on your end. I am, however, openly non-partisan on here. Based upon your own posting history, you undoubtedly see this as "trolling."
If anyone is trolling, it's people who announce who they have ignored...and then proceed to reply to that ignored individual after reading what they posted. Because that totally makes sense, keeps the peace in threads, and isn't the behavior of a drama-addicted hellraiser, at all. 🙄

Get up Richard! Wesley Eure still loves you.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | March 10, 2024 9:16 PM |
R15
Why Maine?
Because Richard H Chamberlin late of Maine did indeed pass away a while back. The chances that there would be two Richard Chamberlins in the US , a very good chance, or what this has to do with acting is no doubt fuck all nothing.

Dead or alive he was what the word dreamy was meant for. He must have pulled some prime cock when he was young.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | March 10, 2024 9:25 PM |
He's still pulling prime cock now, R42. He's got brains and charm to go with the classic good looks.

Those devilish Russians understand nothing would better demoralize Americans than tricking them into thinking a 1960s television star died.

Also the word "melodic"
by Anonymous | reply 44 | March 10, 2024 9:29 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 46 | March 10, 2024 9:37 PM |
Bogus news article for clickbait. I had fallen for something similar twice on YouTube and they go through about 10 plus minutes of trivial facts about their life and career and then go into some dubious infomercial. Now when I see article or video clips about a deceased celebrity, I first look at the source before I decide to believe it.

r44 The point is that these sites mix in other news completely unrelated to politics to look more legitimate. An entertainment section is not surprising because every legit news site has one, as well.
Anyway, I ran the image of the author of that Chamberlain Sun article through an AI image detector and the result returned a 55.7% chance of the image being AI generated. Also, when you reverse image search, the only sites that return are the Chamberlain Sun site, which is strange considering that most journalists also have a LinkedIn and other social media presence.

R46, frankly I was expecting Willie Nelson or Jack Nicholson to go soon.
