Toni Collette
An actress who got her big international break in 1994 as the lead in Muriel's Wedding, which led to other box office hits such as Emma, The Sixth Sense, Little Miss Sunshine, Hereditary, and Knives Out, she has simply never stopped working.
She prefers independent films over Hollywood blockbusters, claiming independent films are more flexible, and focus on character and plot over CGI and "popcorn for the eyes." Independent film directors seek her out, claiming she is the best actress working today with her versatility and perfect communication solely through facial expressions.
Shy, witty, and having an insatiable appetite to learn, let's discuss the great Australian actress Toni Colette.

Love her in literally everything I've seen her in. I can't think of a single bad performance.

On the eve of the Academy Awards, really OP? How dare you pull focus from every other movie star like that?

I loved her in United States of Tara, but I understand why they cut the series when they did.

Same, R1. And because I love watching her, I want to believe the rumors about her being an awful person on set, are either greatly exaggerated, or untrue. But the work stands on its own.

Hasn't her weight gone up and down a lot over the years? In About a Boy, she looked really hefty, but the seemed to slim down.

One of her best and most forgotten performances- and a completely Oscar caliber one- is in a film called Japanese Story.
If you have not seen it, see it.
And do NOT read any spoilers.
She was excellent and the film is a fine one.

R5 Not sure. I know she was happy on Knives Out.
Granted, she was working with Rian Johnson, Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Jamie Lee Curtis, Don Johnson, Michael Shannon, and Christopher Plummer.
From what I have heard/read about, the set was fun and professional. Everyone got along.

I thought her costar from Muriel's Wedding was the difficult one.

Toni Collette played Cordelia in a production of King Lear.
Eric Porter was known for having played Lear.

R6 I loved About A Boy, and she was the perfect daft hippie in it.

Sorry but she is box office poison for me. I hate that resting retard face she does.

I loved Muriel's Wedding, despite a few clunky plot twists, and she really carried that movie beautifully.

I’ve never heard a word about her being difficult.
I value that she’s kept her real face and teeth.
Always outstanding.

R15, that’s one of the productions I truly regret missing.
I’ve listened to the cast album a thousand times.

In the 90s and 00s she was one of the most watchable actors but from the mid 00s the good quality indie roles dried up and it was mostly low quality output.
