Ironical that George Villiers King James boy toy has this monumental tomb in Westminster Abby
by Anonymous | reply 7 | March 9, 2024 4:01 PM |
Yet King James got a plaque on the floor and they "lost" his grave for 300 years.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | March 9, 2024 4:02 PM |
That's quite a wig!
by Anonymous | reply 9 | March 9, 2024 4:04 PM |
History (like film) is a pack of tricks we play on the dead.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | March 9, 2024 4:07 PM |
Who paid for George's tomb? Was it King Charles I James son who apparently was also besotted with Georgie?
by Anonymous | reply 11 | March 9, 2024 4:09 PM |
^ Makes sense since a bunch of incompetent scrounger whores live there.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | March 9, 2024 4:59 PM |
Who are all these actors? I don't recognize any of them except for Gillian Anderson as the mom.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | March 9, 2024 5:01 PM |
Gillian Anderson?
🙄
Seriously

R14 Not a Kardashian in the lot. Bloody awful!
by Anonymous | reply 16 | March 9, 2024 6:52 PM |
Villiers tomb is more elaborate than Kings Henry VIII ,James I and Charles I. Three kings who had no tombs. Not even markers for hundreds of years. Bizarre.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | March 9, 2024 6:55 PM |
^ He's a whore dear.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | March 9, 2024 8:19 PM |
It can't be "Oscar bait", OP. It's a mini-series.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | March 9, 2024 8:26 PM |
If they give just one episode a theatrical release in just one theatre in one town it qualifies. And they will and it will.

Just finished Mary and George. It is a wonderful engrossing titillating piece. Found the performances to be strong. Tony Curran especially. The one quibble I have is Nicholas Galatzine. He is stunning to look at in his period finery I could readily accept why women an men would be seduced by him. Galitzine fills the bill. However to rise to be the most powerful man in England requires a bit more. What George Villers character requires is a beautiful mask disguising boundless ambition and guile. Galitzine doesn't do guile. What this role needed was a male Natalie Dormer. Galatzine just doesn't have that range(yet). At the end his George appears just as passive and malleable as he did at the beginning. I never believed him as the most powerful feared man in the realm. A pretty boy he remains.

Beautiful actors have always been handicapped by their beauty. They are never taken seriously. The character of George was written sympathetically despite the sleazy murderous things he does. Nicholas could only act the part as written. He did a fantastic job!

M & G wardrobe talk big hair ,frills and how to tailor Jacobean fashion for men who are not pear shaped. What those pearls really mean?
by Anonymous | reply 38 | March 21, 2024 5:58 PM |
The ideal male silhouette in the 16th century was "pear shaped" only peasants and laborers were tanned with V shaped bods.

Nicholas doesn't look fresh in this series. Eyebags, dark circles, and an overall puffiness.
