Doesn't come on until 8:30.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | February 25, 2024 2:29 AM |
SNL - only watchable from 10/75 to 5/79
by Anonymous | reply 2 | February 25, 2024 2:45 AM |
They should have brought back Ching Change and Loose Change for this episode!
by Anonymous | reply 4 | February 25, 2024 3:39 AM |
wow. This LOSER Gillis is bad.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | February 25, 2024 3:42 AM |
This is truly terrible.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | February 25, 2024 3:42 AM |
Gays. Down Syndrome. Masterbating. Can ridiculing CANCER be far behind?
by Anonymous | reply 7 | February 25, 2024 3:43 AM |
Jeezus. It’s back to watching “Funny Girl” on TCM right now for me.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | February 25, 2024 3:43 AM |
RACISM....How did I NOT see that coming?
by Anonymous | reply 9 | February 25, 2024 3:44 AM |
Lighten up. You precious darlings wouldn't have survived the 60s-80s stand-up comedians.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | February 25, 2024 3:46 AM |
ugh. This church skit is horrible.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | February 25, 2024 3:51 AM |
I don't see Longfellow making it past this season.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | February 25, 2024 3:54 AM |
This show fucking stinks again. Off to bed.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | February 25, 2024 3:54 AM |
You really think I’m a precious darling, r10?
*twirls hair
by Anonymous | reply 14 | February 25, 2024 3:54 AM |
Marcellos ass will go down as the only good part of this episode.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | February 25, 2024 4:02 AM |
Well R14, humor has gone to its safe space since the PC 90s and is still afraid to come out so if you must, twirl sweetie, twirl.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | February 25, 2024 4:07 AM |
I have no idea who the host is or who the musical guest is and neither one motivates me to watch to watch.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | February 25, 2024 4:08 AM |
Shane Gillis should be a regular. He reminds me of someone who could have been in the original show.
Good comic acting. I liked the risky monologue. Refreshing.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | February 25, 2024 4:14 AM |
What a shock.
Another bad, low-energy hip-hop act.
Just weeks after Ice Spice just stood there and shook her ass.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | February 25, 2024 4:18 AM |
Proof that a gay guy should never play Capote.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | February 25, 2024 4:30 AM |
I’m recording to watch after Jen Psaki tomorrow.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | February 25, 2024 4:31 AM |
Interesting that the sex doll commercial is mocking incels, because that's 98% of Shane Gillis's fanbase.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | February 25, 2024 4:47 AM |
Will someone wake up the musical guest?
by Anonymous | reply 23 | February 25, 2024 4:53 AM |
He couldn’t bother to write new material for his monologue? That was disappointingly stale.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | February 25, 2024 4:57 AM |
That was pretty dreadful.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | February 25, 2024 5:11 AM |
Judging from tonight, Shane is about as edgy as Tim Conway, and less funny. My only guess is that the writers intentionally sabotaged him with corny material, like the dreadful church sketch. “How about an uptight white guy who catches Black like it’s a contagion?” Meh.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | February 25, 2024 5:34 AM |
[quote]Judging from tonight, Shane is about as edgy as Tim Conway, and less funny.
Exactly.
[quote]My only guess is that the writers intentionally sabotaged him with corny material, like the dreadful church sketch.
Entirely possible. The entire cast kept their distance from him during the goodnights.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | February 25, 2024 5:37 AM |
I was excited when I saw the ballerinas, violinist and opera singers and thought oh something different and interesting. Then the monotone rap started.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | February 25, 2024 7:20 AM |
I want Marcello Hernandez to live on my face
by Anonymous | reply 30 | February 25, 2024 9:08 AM |
[quote] My only guess is that the writers intentionally sabotaged him with corny material
I guess that’s a plausible explanation, but frankly, how could you tell? It’s not as if they consistently produce top- notch content, and deviated from that this week. On any given Saturday night, the writing is pretty awful.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | February 25, 2024 9:19 AM |
That cold open was pathetic. Making the hypocrisy of supporting Trump all about personal insults? Weak. And not funny.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | February 25, 2024 10:44 AM |
Was that the worst bomb ever in opening monologues? I don’t remember worse than that. The audience was silent for nearly ten minutes.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | February 25, 2024 10:54 AM |
WTF?! 21 Savage is a piece of shit who has no voice and shouldn't be allowed on stage. Rap is fucking garbage.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | February 25, 2024 10:55 AM |
If anything , bringing back this complete comedy non entity (I don’t give a shit about his incel podcast numbers, nor does anyone else) should signal Lorne’s time is over. NBC needs to finally get rid of him.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | February 25, 2024 10:55 AM |
But he’s edgy!
by Anonymous | reply 36 | February 25, 2024 11:02 AM |
Who?
by Anonymous | reply 37 | February 25, 2024 11:38 AM |
R25 THANK YOU!!
by Anonymous | reply 38 | February 25, 2024 12:46 PM |
They really went from Elordi to... Shane Gillis? How bizarre. Swoosie Kurtz next time?
by Anonymous | reply 39 | February 25, 2024 12:49 PM |
Why not Wayland Flowers and Madame?
by Anonymous | reply 40 | February 25, 2024 12:50 PM |
Low energy from start to finish. No high points or funny bits or lines (Marcello's ass was nice).
Musical guest......boring......
by Anonymous | reply 41 | February 25, 2024 2:50 PM |
Marcello's ass is a meal. Where does he cruise?
by Anonymous | reply 42 | February 25, 2024 2:54 PM |
The show was okay. Shane Gillis was fine and I thought his monologue was funny. I liked the HR skit. The worst part of the evening was hypocritical Bowen Yang and his take on Truman Capote - he ruined update. But on the positive side, lots of appearances by my Andrew Dismukes.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | February 25, 2024 3:10 PM |
I'm getting tired of Lorne Michaels' stunt queen hosts.
Shane Gillis is not famous or popular enough to warrant hosting SNL. It's like when they had Elon FUCKING Musk hosting a year or 2 back.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | February 25, 2024 3:56 PM |
[quote]Shane Gillis is not famous or popular enough to warrant hosting SNL.
Shane Gillis not famous or popular enough for you, there's a difference.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | February 25, 2024 4:03 PM |
Elon Musk is one of the most famous and powerful men in the world. I don’t see the comparison.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | February 25, 2024 4:03 PM |
An ugly fat man who tells maga “jokes”. He isn’t funny. He isn’t interesting. Saying random offensive words doesn’t make you Lenny Bruce. NBC must want to throw a bone to the maga crowd. That said, Gillis has nothing to offer. He need to go back to working his Walmart lawn & garden.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | February 25, 2024 4:05 PM |
But he has a special niece.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | February 25, 2024 4:08 PM |

His was the best opening monologue in a long time. The Trump skit was good. In spirit he reminds me a bit of John Belushi.
Bowen Yang is an embarrassment. He turns everything into Amateur Hour.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | February 25, 2024 5:52 PM |
Shane Gillis does one of the best Trump impressions
by Anonymous | reply 50 | February 25, 2024 6:06 PM |
The worst part of the show was the droning, tuneless, talentless "singer". And the production on the first number had potential but the fog machine obscured the footwork. I bet those two dancers were pissed afterward.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | February 25, 2024 6:11 PM |
Awful episode. Completely, utterly unfunny. Embarrassingly so.
Especially the Fugliana doll skit.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | February 25, 2024 6:13 PM |
Lorne is fucking with NBC. He’s gotten away with churning out shit year after year.
He knows it’s shit and now is trying to see just how lousy he can get away with.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | February 25, 2024 6:15 PM |
The only thing worth watching was Marcello Hernandez's butt cheeks.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | February 25, 2024 6:16 PM |
Anyone else notice a weird, nervous energy throughout the show? The cast members were not hitting their beats well, and Shane acted like a got a death note from a Mexican drug cartel right before his opening monologue.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | February 25, 2024 6:21 PM |
R55 They seemed even less prepared than they usually are.
Even Heidi Gardner's predictable cracks up in the middle of her skits seemed off.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | February 25, 2024 6:25 PM |
Show was mediocre at best (which is the norm for SNL these days.
However, Shane’s Trump was the best I’ve seen; Better than James Auston Johnson’s, which I thinks is very good.
If Gillis hadn’t been fired, it’s obvious he would have been playing Trump full-time.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | February 25, 2024 7:14 PM |
I agree, R57— I think his Trump impression landed him the job in 2019, but he doesn’t have an arsenal of other characters to contribute. Also, he looks like a scallop, which is very limiting.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | February 25, 2024 7:28 PM |
A scallop?
by Anonymous | reply 59 | February 25, 2024 7:30 PM |
The Forrest Gump sketch was cute. That's all I have to say about this episode.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | February 25, 2024 7:37 PM |
I agree about the tense, nervous energy.
Even when the camera pulled away at the very end of the show during the hugs, the audience was just sitting there staring, not applauding. The cheering was a sound effect. So bizarre.
The audience clearly knew his baggage and purposely made it hard for him.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | February 25, 2024 7:42 PM |
Terrible cold open and monologue. Overall an average episode.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | February 25, 2024 8:17 PM |
I didn’t think the sketches were bad. Gillis was decent in them as well.
However, he didn’t own his monologue. If you’re going to deliver a politically incorrect, edgy monologue then own it. When an audience sees you crumbling when your material isn’t hitting, they’re not going to laugh. Personally, I don’t find making fun of the mentally handicapped entertaining. Gillis might fit in well here though with the number of posters who like to use the word “retard.”
by Anonymous | reply 64 | February 25, 2024 8:40 PM |
Don't be a tard, r64, liking the word and acting like one are two different opinions.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | February 25, 2024 8:43 PM |
I don’t think he was making fun of Down’s syndrome kids. He was making jokes about them, but not putting them down (so to speak).
by Anonymous | reply 66 | February 25, 2024 8:43 PM |
I disagree, R65. The word is offensive.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | February 25, 2024 8:44 PM |
then don't act like one, r67.
by Anonymous | reply 68 | February 25, 2024 8:45 PM |
The church and game show sketches would have been passable with Louis CK in Shane’s place. He would have nailed the racial humor.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | February 25, 2024 8:57 PM |
His joke was something to the effect of people with Down always being happy.
“They’re not worried about the election...”
I chuckled. He would’ve been a decent cast member.
by Anonymous | reply 70 | February 25, 2024 8:59 PM |
I thought he was quite funny.
And he must be a nice enough guy if Bowen embraced him. Because you know that little bitch would have stood to side stage glaring and hissing otherwise.
by Anonymous | reply 71 | February 25, 2024 9:12 PM |
His type of material and act has to be really held back for something like SNL. He was much funnier in his standup special beautiful dogs than the monologue here. Sketches were pretty mediocre.
by Anonymous | reply 72 | February 25, 2024 10:30 PM |
This guy is kinda likable, but they wrote jokes for a douche bag. The jokes were crude and annoying in a huge D-bag way but this guy is kinda likable.
His self-deprecating monologue was sad. The, I love happy tards, was saccharine for a d-bag.
He wasn't slimy enough to carry the HR skit. Fell flat.
If the Jamaican skit was not thrown out, I am wondering what the shit 30 is going to be. Oh, wait, Keenan needed another skit.
I had to put it on pause.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | February 26, 2024 12:45 AM |
I went to a coffee outlet in Charleston, S.C. a year ago managed and staffed by people with DS. Could this be the chain Shane was talking about?
by Anonymous | reply 74 | February 26, 2024 1:27 AM |
[quote] The audience clearly knew his baggage and purposely made it hard for him.
You reap what you sow.
by Anonymous | reply 75 | February 26, 2024 1:29 AM |
I actually liked the church skit it was hilariously silly with Ego who is quickly becoming my favorite cast member.
by Anonymous | reply 76 | February 26, 2024 1:51 AM |
It would have been funnier with a Cousin from Temecula...
by Anonymous | reply 77 | February 26, 2024 3:51 AM |
R77....Oh, that would have been great...Too bad the writers aren't that imaginative.
by Anonymous | reply 78 | February 26, 2024 5:11 AM |
Marcello was a theater kid. You know what that means..He was pretty bland at first but he (and Punkie Johnson) seem to have found their stride....I don't see Michael Longfellow or Devon Walker continuing past this season.. They are just so generic.
by Anonymous | reply 80 | February 27, 2024 10:01 PM |
R79 nothing is advertised unless it's for sale.
by Anonymous | reply 81 | February 27, 2024 10:21 PM |
Devon has risen to the top this season. I don't think he'll be going anywhere.
by Anonymous | reply 82 | February 28, 2024 2:30 PM |
I'd like to bury my face in Marcello's bush.
by Anonymous | reply 83 | February 28, 2024 2:47 PM |
R82 I think Devon will be gone. They give him throwaway parts in sketches, and he has zero charisma or personality.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | February 28, 2024 3:00 PM |
If SNL fired cast members for being devoid of charisma and personality, it would have to fire the entire current cast.
by Anonymous | reply 85 | February 28, 2024 3:08 PM |
R85 Sounds like a great idea. Can Sarah "listen to me scream" Sherman be first?
by Anonymous | reply 86 | February 28, 2024 3:11 PM |
I'd love to see Sarah play the monster in an "Alien" reboot just to watch her jaw unhinge.
by Anonymous | reply 87 | February 29, 2024 1:42 AM |
Andrew and Marcello are not the same person? Do we really need two of them, especially considering how unfunny they are?
by Anonymous | reply 88 | March 2, 2024 11:10 AM |
R88 Leave this house!
by Anonymous | reply 89 | March 2, 2024 11:18 AM |
R89 No
by Anonymous | reply 90 | March 2, 2024 11:44 AM |
Devon does a great Tim Scott. But unless Scott becomes Trump’s VP pick (doubtful) there’s not much demand for that
Longfellow did a great Rob Lowe last week. I was surprised and impressed as up to now he’s basically played himself
by Anonymous | reply 91 | March 2, 2024 12:55 PM |
R91 Devon does a TERRIBLE Tim Scott. Just because he's black like Scott doesn't make him good at playing him.
by Anonymous | reply 92 | March 2, 2024 2:16 PM |
I thought he was good, r92. He nailed the weird hoarse voice.
by Anonymous | reply 93 | March 2, 2024 3:27 PM |
The guy that does Trump is terrible. They should hire Shane Gillis to do Trump all the time
by Anonymous | reply 94 | March 3, 2024 10:33 AM |
