The red carpet is happening on YouTube. Dominic Sessa seems so cute and sweet. He should have been nominated for the Oscar.
I wonder if Jacob is going to show up. He was supposed to show up at the Australian Academy Awards, but he ended up not going after the incident.

I don’t like the color of Emma Stone’s dress but love the nod to her fabulous costumes in “Poor Things”. Margot’s tits look weird and Florence Pig needs to stop showing off her non-existent ones.

Andrew Scott is know for being a villain in Sherlock and Bond, for Pride, Fleabag, Black Mirror and His Dark Materials
Paul Mescal hasn't had some arthouse success but nothing with wide commercial appeal.

R54, you must be watching on a time delay, because we’ve known those winners for a while by checking Deadline. Only Best Actress and Picture really remain of the major awards. Actor and Director have been awarded already.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | February 18, 2024 6:46 PM |
R56 sweetie, some of us didn’t go to twitter to see the winners. We are watching it now.
You clearly didn’t watch the ceremony retard. It’s airing now on BBC ONE. The BAFTAS dont air live anymore. Stupid motherfucker. Wanting to talk shit but doesn’t even know what he’s talking about.

Best Supporting Actress- Da’Vine Joy Randolph

BAFTAS air at 7pm in London/2PM ET/ 11 AM PT
They are airing right now but the ceremony took place at 12 PM ET. They don’t air it live. They air it 2 hours after the awards are actually awarded.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | February 18, 2024 6:52 PM |
Silly r56. The awards are airing right now and started at 19:00 aka 7pm in the UK. It’s currently airing. Reading the results early online isn’t the same as watching.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | February 18, 2024 6:57 PM |
Did you really need to go from zero to complete fucking asshole in sixty seconds, R57?
I was merely pointing out that if you want.a list of the winners, there's a more updated list elsewhere, and I didn't want to do it by rudely insulting you. That way, people an know that. Christopher Nolan, Cillian Murphy and Emma Stone will be winning soon.
But if you're watching, R57, I hope I didn't spoil it for you.

Why don't the BAFTAs air live like the Oscars/Golden Globes/SAG/Critics' Choice?
by Anonymous | reply 67 | February 18, 2024 7:23 PM |
Who won the acting awards?
by Anonymous | reply 68 | February 18, 2024 7:26 PM |
R67 so they can edit down some of the wins into one quick segment to keep the show at 2 hours for television.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | February 18, 2024 7:37 PM |
It's looking like Emma Stone is a lock for the oscar.
by Anonymous | reply 70 | February 18, 2024 7:40 PM |

A bit anticlimactic, no?
by Anonymous | reply 71 | February 18, 2024 7:40 PM |
Good. I hope she wins it and not that overrated movie and performance from Lily Gladstone
by Anonymous | reply 72 | February 18, 2024 7:41 PM |
R71 most people in the states don’t watch it as the only way to is either via VPN or a Britbox subscription. So it makes no difference to them.
I think a lot of people who plan on watching it aren’t online looking up the winners. I know I didn’t. I’m watching the ceremony and made sure to not check twitter once the red carpet was over.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | February 18, 2024 7:43 PM |
The BAFTA nominations are a lot better than most of the states nominations. And last year their wins were better than the Oscars wins. I actually like their Best Supporting Actor lineup (yes, even Elordi) way more than the Oscars lineup.

DDL is English who got dual Irish citizenship in his thirties and divides his time between Ireland and New York with his American wife and their children.

Cool. But he’s not actually Irish.
by Anonymous | reply 82 | February 18, 2024 8:18 PM |
R70. It sure seems so. She is everywhere and winning almost everything. it will be interesting to watch at the Oscars.
by Anonymous | reply 83 | February 18, 2024 8:22 PM |
Most Irish would consider a naturalised citizen Irish because they're not bigoted assholes. Irish-Americans,. however...
by Anonymous | reply 84 | February 18, 2024 8:24 PM |
He isn’t Irish.
by Anonymous | reply 85 | February 18, 2024 8:27 PM |
With supporting categories and directing now set, it’ll be interesting if Annette can pull off a SAG win next week. It will completely flip the race, but Poor Things has such momentum right now I wouldn’t be surprised if Emma pulls it off. Paul will probably win lead actor at SAG, so it look likes it’ll be a real horse race between him and Cillian at the Oscars.
by Anonymous | reply 86 | February 18, 2024 8:32 PM |
Annette isn’t winning. No one predicts this off of DL. The only nominee that stood a chance to upset was Sandra Huller and that is dead after today.
by Anonymous | reply 87 | February 18, 2024 8:35 PM |
Daniel Day Lewis's father was Irish poet Cecil Day Lewis.
But Daniel isn't Irish.
by Anonymous | reply 88 | February 18, 2024 8:37 PM |
Oh if his father was Irish then he will be accepted as Irish. There is a lot of History between Ireland and Britain and most don’t seem to understand that, and it’s still a thing to this day.
by Anonymous | reply 89 | February 18, 2024 8:39 PM |
R87 I know the chances are slim. The only thing that would help Annette prevail at this point is the sentimental, overdue factor, but it probably isn’t going to happen. I’m fine with a second Stone Oscar win. Anyone but that overrated Gladstone performance.
by Anonymous | reply 90 | February 18, 2024 8:44 PM |
I had to laugh at Downey Jr. referring to his performance as “understated”. He was great but it was a scenery chewing performance.
by Anonymous | reply 91 | February 18, 2024 8:45 PM |
If he's got a passport, he's Irish.
by Anonymous | reply 92 | February 18, 2024 8:52 PM |
The Oscars have different political pressures to deal with than the BAFTAs, which is why Gladstone will probably win.

by Anonymous | reply 101 | February 18, 2024 9:31 PM |
Andrew Scott is hideous. Especially with that necklace. He and Margot Robert easily the worst dressed.
by Anonymous | reply 102 | February 18, 2024 10:01 PM |
Andrew Scott is just OK looking. Really good actor, though, which makes him seem more attractive looking than he is. Paul Mescal isn’t gorgeous, either, but is quite adorable so that makes him extremely attractive. Jacob Elordi is an extremely beautiful looking man.
I wonder why I blocked OP. Probably for being a contrarian cunt.

Disappointed that All of Us Strangers didn't win anything. My favourite film released in the last year.
The obituary segment ending with Michael Gambon was very touching, as was Michael J Fox's appearance (obviously).
