His acting is mostly pretty face reading from a script. If he didn't have connections and weren't famous he'd be doing gay for pay porn for Bel Ami or Staxus.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | February 17, 2024 11:59 AM |

R68: His mommy, uncle, and aunt helped him out so he didnāt have to suck cock but Iām sure he willingly offered up his hole to producers.

How is he a nepo baby? Please explain.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | February 17, 2024 12:39 PM |
I think the argument is that his mother was a dancer on Broadway and his uncle is a (mostly) television directo, so heās starring in massive big-budget franchises. You know, nepotism.
by Anonymous | reply 74 | February 17, 2024 12:45 PM |
R57: The industry and the public went crazy about him because he played gay in 2017. After just one critically acclaimed breakout performance, he was everything everywhere all at once just like Jennifer Lawrence. Heās just dull and certainly doesnāt have the looks of an action star. I thought his Wonka was kind of one note and he didnāt bring any warmth or mystery to the character.
by Anonymous | reply 75 | February 17, 2024 12:48 PM |
Oh bullshit. Jack Quaid is a nepo baby. Dakota Johnson is a nepo baby. Chalamet's mom was a dancer on Broadway and some uncle who was a TV director, hardly people with connections that would have turned this guy into the major movie star that he is now. Some of you need to calm down.
by Anonymous | reply 76 | February 17, 2024 12:48 PM |
His aunt helped get him the Woody Allen job, and his uncle was taking him to industry parties and introducing him to everyone.
It's so funny how the fangirls in this thread insist people are lying about him, until it's proven true and then they try and act like it's a positive.
by Anonymous | reply 77 | February 17, 2024 12:49 PM |
He was pretty terrible in the Woody Allen movie. Heās lucky the whole Me Too thing happened when it did and that the movie wasnāt widely seen. His uncle getting him the job makes a lot of sense. Look he may not come from an acting family per se but any connection, big or small, always helps.
by Anonymous | reply 78 | February 17, 2024 1:02 PM |
To qualify as a nepo baby, you have to meet these two requirements:
1) Your connection has to come from your dad or mom or both.
2)You can't act AND aren't good looking.
If you have a showbiz parent but can at least act or you're pretty, the stigma of the nepo baby label is not as great.

R54 r55 subsidized housing has nothing to do with low income.
by Anonymous | reply 83 | February 17, 2024 1:30 PM |
New York has all kinds of subsidized housing, especially considering rent controls. Most of it is for the poors. Almost a million people live in Housing Authority projects or receive Section 8 assistance.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | February 17, 2024 1:34 PM |
R75 him and J Law were both called the male/female versions of each other because of their massive breakouts at young ages from one critically acclaimed role. Only she went straight for big studio blockbusters while he kept it going with small indie flicks until Dune. Heās mirrored his career after young Leo, who did tv as a teen and then did a lot of indie type flicks or supporting roles before landing Titanic, a big studio blockbuster. Only difference is Timmy didnāt start in tv but in a play.
by Anonymous | reply 85 | February 17, 2024 1:34 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 86 | February 17, 2024 1:36 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 88 | February 17, 2024 1:42 PM |
Subsidized housing doesnāt make one poor. The projects is for the poor. Anyone can apply for subsidized apartments that are within their pay grade. Some subsidized apartments are for people who need to be making a minimum of $100k even.
As stated upthread, people who get those apartments are usually the privileged who have connections. It isnāt someone making $2000 a month.
by Anonymous | reply 89 | February 17, 2024 1:47 PM |
I donāt care what you were discussing upthread. The statement āsubsidized housing has nothing to do with low incomeā is simply incorrect. Yes, there are some types of subsidized housing that is available to middle-income or even upper-income residents, but those are the exceptions.
by Anonymous | reply 90 | February 17, 2024 1:47 PM |
R90 most āpoorā people canāt afford subsidies. The projects is for them.
by Anonymous | reply 91 | February 17, 2024 1:48 PM |
The projects are subsidized housing.
by Anonymous | reply 92 | February 17, 2024 1:50 PM |
He is the son of two educated and hard working people. The apartment was for people in the arts. NYC used to have buildings with reduced rents for those who were involved in arts, but of course they were hard to get into. His mother being a dancer and Broadway performer makes them eligible. Getting into those apartments is hard. Clearly they were either very lucky or had connections to the right people.
by Anonymous | reply 93 | February 17, 2024 1:50 PM |
Subsidized housing is not necessarily government housing.

My cousin āinheritedā my grandfatherās rent-controlled apartment in Peter Cooper Village even though he never lived in it. He registered to vote and has his mail sent there. His āconnection?ā He used to visit the ladies in the office and he brought treats so that his claim sailed right through.
by Anonymous | reply 99 | February 17, 2024 1:58 PM |
In the housing development where Timothy grew up (and I believe his mother still lives), the deal is that residents pay rent equivalent to 30 percent of their income, and that amount can go up or down slightly or greatly from one year to the next. This applies to everyone except the relatively few people in market rate apartments, who pay whatever the full going rate is. I hope that clarifies the situation.
R59, I don't see what your story has to do with this discussion, but I'm wondering, why DIDN'T your cousin live in that rent-controlled apartment, and why did he keep it if he wasn't living there? Was he subletting it? That would be a huge no-no.

R83 The neighborhood where his family grew up in is expensive, and requires people who don't make the income FOR THAT NEIGHBORHOOD to apply for low income housing IN THAT NEIGHBORHOOD. What qualifies for low income is dependent on what neighborhood and city you are living in. New York is expensive, and so is Hell's Kitchen. Someone in the arts would need to live in subsidized housing to live in that particular neighborhood in that particular city. They have income limits to live in Manhattan Plaza, because it's subsidized housing for THAT NEIGHBORHOOD.

Blah blah blah. Manhattan Plaza is Section 8 housing to this day and was built when Hell's Kitchen was a working class shit hole neighborhood. I didn't say anything negative about Timmy. I was responding to those who claim he seems so French. I've taught boys from Parisienne HLM who make it to university and they are not like Timmy. Timmy does display a hint of Hell's Kitchen wigga swagger but only very occasionally. He is definitely more cosmopolitan than he lets on. When he speaks French he has a different personality and also he doesn't have any French HLM swagger and no verlan for example.

All fame is a mystery. It's luck, chance, being in the right place at the right time, and connecting with the right people. Do you know how beautiful people there are in LA and how many talented people there are in LA who never get a shot.

This is still the most popular definition of "TimothƩe Chalamet" on Urban Dictionary:
The reason I find the will to live every. single. day.
Rachel: why cant they all be like TimothƩe Chalamet??
Monica: I KNOW RIGHT?!!

A quick reminder that the Timothee obsessive here is a racist piece of shit who exposed herself as such in another thread when she described Koreans as being lower class Asians

She might only be parroting the Japanese, R138. Like it or not, many Japanese look down on Koreans. White-centric Americans tend to only be concerned with racism if white or white-coded people are involved and have nothing to say about intra-Asian racism, but racism is not the preserve of whites. Every race displays racial prejudice, is capable of racism, and carries assumptions about its own virtue and superiority. Each type of racism is subtly different, reflecting the specificity of its own culture and history.

"White-coded people" are those perceived as white (for example, light-skinned indigenous people and mixed-race Hispanics) but not "technically" white. It's an absurd term, anyway, and not my invention. A similar term would be "white-passing."

āWhite-passingā is now considered to be a racist term r144

r140 Take a look at her post at r139, and ask why you're trying to defend that person. And so what if the Japanese are racist, that does not make it okay.

And keep exposing yourself as the vile little racist you are. Shows what scum support Chalamet.
