MSNBC - Part 54

Is Kornacky's package so small that no trousers will show a bulge, or are they simply too loose?

by Anonymousreply 600March 7, 2024 5:22 PM

And please do not post until 53 hits 600

by Anonymousreply 1February 15, 2024 12:55 AM

Part 53 is full and closed now.
Just love Lisa Reuben she needs

It's Lisa Rubin.

by Anonymousreply 3February 15, 2024 9:34 PM

Why is Ari wasting valuable airtime on MAGAtt Kenneth Cheseboro's MAGAttorney?

Sic him, Maya!

by Anonymousreply 4February 15, 2024 10:31 PM

I love listening to Lisa Rubin. She’s a find.

by Anonymousreply 5February 15, 2024 11:08 PM

Joy's makeup is clownish, which insults clowns.

by Anonymousreply 6February 15, 2024 11:11 PM

Good grief, Joy. Did you apply your makeup with a shovel in the dark?!

P.S. Your attempts to contour your nose do anything but, just serve to accentuate it. Celebrate your noble feature.

by Anonymousreply 7February 15, 2024 11:11 PM

Bring Nicolle Wallace back!!!

by Anonymousreply 8February 15, 2024 11:31 PM

I don't know what to think any more.......

by Anonymousreply 9February 15, 2024 11:33 PM

Joy’s show always makes me optimistic. Loved her coverage of the Fani case, and Katie Phang was spot on with her comments.

by Anonymousreply 10February 15, 2024 11:33 PM

Nicole is supposed to be back next month. I think Alicia Menendez is doing a fantastic job. She is whip smart, engaging with her guests, and I see that they like her.

by Anonymousreply 11February 15, 2024 11:55 PM

I will really like Alicia Menendez being on Saturday and Sunday mornings, because I don't watch TV then.

by Anonymousreply 12February 15, 2024 11:59 PM

“I will really like….”, R12? Alicia has been doing her Saturday and Sunday morning show for a few weeks now. Do keep up, and take some grammar lessons.

by Anonymousreply 13February 16, 2024 12:16 AM

Well I don't watch TV then as I stated. I miss Nicolle.

by Anonymousreply 14February 16, 2024 12:48 AM

Give busy mother Nicolle Alicia's weekend shows, allowing ManyHaHa more time at home with newborn daughter and preteen son. I actually look forward to "Deadline White House" the weeks when Alicia is host.

Team Alicia!

by Anonymousreply 15February 16, 2024 1:00 AM

Unfortunately did Nicolle take too much time off for us to miss her?

by Anonymousreply 16February 16, 2024 1:43 AM

WTH is going on with Joy Reid ? Does her make-up artist hate her ? That ill-fitting bright yellow wig, the yellow eye shadow and yellow make-up on her face, and those ruby red lips ?

by Anonymousreply 17February 16, 2024 3:08 AM

She is a golden bronze goddess.

by Anonymousreply 18February 16, 2024 4:03 AM

Nic returns next month?

by Anonymousreply 19February 16, 2024 4:04 AM

R4, did Ari establish if he was in any way being paid by Trump currently?

by Anonymousreply 20February 16, 2024 4:06 AM

Mika really took Alexei's murder very hard. She was on the verge of tears when reporting, and all choked up. I never saw her this emotional.

by Anonymousreply 21February 16, 2024 2:26 PM

WHET Malcolm Nance?

by Anonymousreply 22February 16, 2024 5:02 PM

Chris Jansing loves Trump.

by Anonymousreply 23February 16, 2024 5:45 PM

Who does the hair and makeup for MSNBC correspondent Susanne Craig ? She needs to be fired, pronto !

by Anonymousreply 24February 16, 2024 5:48 PM

Vaughn Hillyard would suck Trump’s dick.

by Anonymousreply 25February 16, 2024 5:54 PM

Grrrrr

DOES TONY NOT FUCK KATY TUR ENOUGH?

What happened to this soccer mom?

I really like attorney Tristan Snell on MSNBC. He was the lead attorney in the lawsuit against Trump's fradulent Trump University. He's cute / sexy and very smart. Really enjoy when he explains things.

by Anonymousreply 32February 16, 2024 8:21 PM

Alex, Rachel and Laurence on tonight at 9:00 to discuss the Trump ruling today.

by Anonymousreply 33February 16, 2024 8:50 PM

Michael Cohen coming up on Deadline White House, haven't seen him on MSNBC for a while, I was wondering if he had been banned.

by Anonymousreply 34February 16, 2024 8:58 PM

Twitter is roasting Katy Tur for her “Is it fair,” comment.

by Anonymousreply 35February 16, 2024 9:00 PM

I would love to see MSNBC hire Michael Cohen to host a show similar to Greg Gutfeld's show on Fox, I think it would be a hit. Now I don't trust Michael Cohen at all, but still I think people would watch it. Maybe just a evening weekend show to start out.

by Anonymousreply 36February 16, 2024 9:08 PM

Perry Mason not Ironside, Michael.

by Anonymousreply 40February 16, 2024 9:37 PM

Does Molly Jong Fast PASS on the makeup & hair MSNBC provides?

Think she is now trolling us now with that dirty look.

by Anonymousreply 41February 16, 2024 9:39 PM

MSNBC brass better shit kick Tur off the network. What the hell is wrong with that woman? "Is it fair" comment is unbelievable.

by Anonymousreply 42February 16, 2024 9:45 PM

I think she wants to be fired so she can wallow in the victimhood before she moves to Fox.

by Anonymousreply 44February 16, 2024 10:09 PM

by Anonymousreply 45February 16, 2024 10:11 PM

Damnit Ari, why'd you cut into donald's speech?! I was enjoying his semi-meltdown.

It’s the final breakdown! (Casio fanfare)

by Anonymousreply 53February 17, 2024 12:30 AM

Well, apparently either Joy Reid or her make-up artist reads the DL - particularly this thread !

This evening she had a better fitting wig on her head, got rid of the yellow eye shadow and make-up on her face, and ditched the Bozo-the-Clown red lipstick. She looked 70% better. If she gets rid of the janky wigs, she'd be improved 100%.

by Anonymousreply 54February 17, 2024 12:36 AM

Chris Hayes has been with his wife Kate Shaw since college.

Who is he cheating on her with?

by Anonymousreply 55February 17, 2024 12:39 AM

R55 Everyone knows his mistress is Molly Jong-Fast. Who could resist her ?

by Anonymousreply 56February 17, 2024 12:42 AM

Chris Hayes just had a Russian journalist who was friends with Navalny on his show. Mikhail Zygar is his name. Guy is as sexy as sexy can be. I was getting an erection just listening to him talk with his Russian accent. More please !

by Anonymousreply 57February 17, 2024 12:51 AM

by Anonymousreply 64February 17, 2024 7:17 AM

Get rid of the entire afternoon lineup: Andrea Mitchell, Chris Jansing, Katy Tur.

Unwatchable, Access “Journalists.”

by Anonymousreply 65February 17, 2024 7:27 AM

They’re all in overdrive this morning on “The Weekend” praising Fani’s embarrassing and disgraceful witness stand performance on Thursday.

by Anonymousreply 66February 17, 2024 1:08 PM

Andrea Mitchell, that crepe neck.

Time to retire.

by Anonymousreply 67February 17, 2024 1:28 PM

They're all correct, r66.

by Anonymousreply 68February 17, 2024 1:42 PM

Thanks for the laugh, R68.

by Anonymousreply 69February 17, 2024 1:44 PM

Mike Steele brings up Ukraine and Pramila Jayapal lets the Weekend crew know she's not moving her ass because the Republicans are responsible for the Congress clusterfuck.

by Anonymousreply 70February 17, 2024 1:49 PM

I love the guest Anthony Coley. He made me laugh when explained how 'Fani Willis came into the courtroom and had a can of 'whoopass' for everyone.' Imitating Oprah, he said 'You get a can, you get a can, you get a can...'

But they were all correct - despite the 'spectacle' she caused the other day, there's no evidence she or her team should be removed.

by Anonymousreply 71February 17, 2024 3:03 PM

r66, They’re all in overdrive this morning on “The Weekend” praising Fani’s embarrassing and disgraceful witness stand performance on Thursday.

Fani gave a defense defeating appearance that totally showed she in no way profited from the relationship, which is apparently no big deal amongst attorneys in Georgia. Her father gave the death blow the next day, showing the Trump Enquirer investigation team were simply looking to dirty her up, and they came off as racist dirt bags. No surprise there.

r66, are you a reflex troll?

by Anonymousreply 72February 17, 2024 3:18 PM

Bless your deluded heart, R72.

by Anonymousreply 73February 17, 2024 3:22 PM

I would not be sad if Lisa Rubin takes over Ari’s show. I’ve never enjoyed his stupid rap lyrics which are rarely clever, insightful or illuminating. My last straw was when he went on Bill Maher and dismissed the 14th Amendment case as bad politics. Adherence to the Constitution is not optional.

by Anonymousreply 74February 17, 2024 3:23 PM

They dragged out Susanne Craig this morning, after having her on most of yesterday and all day last night. She speaks so softly, I can't hear her with the volume turned all the way up. And she looked like she needed a good shampoo and rinse.

by Anonymousreply 75February 17, 2024 3:25 PM

The defense presented no evidence of their allegations against Willis. You don’t get a prosecutor removed on the basis of innuendo and speculation.

by Anonymousreply 76February 17, 2024 3:25 PM

Remember when Ari was on all the shows for legal matters as the Chief Correspondent.

Now Lisa, Charles, Andrew are the legal eagles everyone wants to have on for their expertise.

Ari Jealous?

by Anonymousreply 81February 17, 2024 4:13 PM
Interesting they elevated Psaki and downgraded Sanders-Townsend.

Seems like common sense to me.

by Anonymousreply 82February 17, 2024 4:15 PM

R81 She does look miserable. She has that same "why am I here ?" look on her face that Whoopi wears every day on 'The View'. Only difference - Whoopi is getting millions of dollars to be there, whereas Symone certainly isn't.

by Anonymousreply 83February 17, 2024 4:31 PM

I've only seen a few minutes of the new "Weekend" show, but when they announced it, I thought that Michael Steele, Alicia Menendez, and Symone Sanders seemed like an odd mix that probably wouldn't have much chemistry.

by Anonymousreply 84February 17, 2024 5:00 PM

R83, Whoopi barely contributes to “The View” discussions anymore.

by Anonymousreply 85February 17, 2024 5:02 PM

R83, Symone has great difficulty hoisting those massive breasts out of bed so early in the morning.

by Anonymousreply 86February 17, 2024 5:04 PM

Don’t be ridiculous. She has a hoist.

by Anonymousreply 87February 17, 2024 5:19 PM

R85 I know. I guess she gets paid her (reportedly) $8M per year from ABC to just sit there, look disinterested, and then roll her eyes at the audience, so they can laugh hysterically. She will even admit 'this doesn't interest me at all' when they start talking about something stupid (like 'The Golden Bachelor') and stares off into the distance while the other four discuss.

by Anonymousreply 90February 17, 2024 7:33 PM

Whoopi is the new BaBa Wawa.

Don't like he, don't watch

by Anonymousreply 91February 17, 2024 10:27 PM

Rosie complained about Whoopi not participating in discussions on “The View” years ago.

by Anonymousreply 92February 17, 2024 10:30 PM

R92 Rosie was rather envious of her - she thought when she returned to the show, they would 'alternate' moderating between Rosie and Whoopi each week. Whoopi said 'no way'. They gave in, and let Rosie sit at the end like a lummox. Then she quit mid-season.

by Anonymousreply 93February 17, 2024 10:48 PM

by Anonymousreply 95February 18, 2024 6:22 AM

The reason the media is failing us—the democratic achievements are not grtting out to the masses is because all the media talks about is trump.

Now they are more obsessed with those ugly shoes he is grifting than the actual fraud case.

Maybe Katy Tur will think it’s unfair.

by Anonymousreply 106February 20, 2024 9:53 AM

Washington Access Reporters just want the clickbait story that got with Trump.

Savannah Guthrie seems to be 'the popular morning host' that everyone loves these days, and now she's taking advantage of that status and sharing 'her religious faith' with everyone, starting with this book.

I remember when Kathie Lee Gifford was in that same position 35 years ago, and she was ridiculed in the media for sharing her religious faith with everyone. Let's see if times have changed, and Guthrie gets off easier than KLG ?

The Lemire/McKinnon reparte was disgusting at the end of WTE.

I thought McKinnon left Axios to get away from the GOP talking points. But no, as a Post "reporter" she and Smirky are chewing the same cabbage twice: Biden is old, The democrats hate people who mention Biden is old, the Democrats cannot distance themselves from Biden's age, Biden is old and the Democrats do not like people bringing it up. Were bringing it up because Democrats have to address the issue.

FOR FUCK SAKE give it a rest.

When both Biden and Trump are the official nonretractable nominees of their party, this issue disappears. Both are old, but only Trump is the only Democracy Hating Rapist.

You are a handsome black man, no doubt. There's a sexiness about you. However, can you give up the monochromatic wardrobe from 1999 - 2000 ? And can you get rid of the black nail polish ?

by Anonymousreply 139February 21, 2024 1:26 PM

I'd love to see Eugene with a buzzcut. Or a shaved head. And an open shirt collar.

by Anonymousreply 140February 21, 2024 1:40 PM

It takes all kinds. I love Eugene's hair. I love his turtlenecks. I love his sports coats. I love the whole look.

I guess I just haven't gotten bored with it yet.

Please, Eugene, don't get the ubiquitous gay haircut. Though, come to think of it, I've yet to see it on a black man.

by Anonymousreply 141February 21, 2024 1:45 PM

The fade. Shaved sides almost to skin.. Not always high on top. Not the same as high and tight.

I just happened on the picture of this guy - Alex Mohajer - running for the California Senate from Orange County. Even though he's from Orange County, I immediately knew he was gay from the haircut.

I live in a "gay-ish" town; 95% of the men all have the exact same haircut.

And yes, Alex is gorgeous no matter what his hair looks like.

Here's another example. Unfortunately, it's considered a "gay haircut" and is, or is about to become, illegal in Iran because of the connotation.

Katy Tur is unbearable!

by Anonymousreply 148February 21, 2024 7:51 PM

WOW! Alicia Mendez ('Deadline Whitehouse') is wearing the exact same thing which Lisa Rubin wore all day yesterday on the talk shows. Same top. I hope they laundered it before she wore it today.

by Anonymousreply 149February 21, 2024 8:24 PM

Ugh Lisa Rubin is a SNOT.

I’ve seen her in East Hampton and NYC. She has no make-up which does that face no favors.

Reminded me of that dork in high school dying to be part of the cool kids crowd.

by Anonymousreply 150February 21, 2024 8:33 PM

Heidi Przyblk called Alicia Menendez. She wants her old hair-do back!

by Anonymousreply 151February 21, 2024 9:10 PM

I thought that Gov. Kathy Hochul's interview with Lawrence last night was impressive. Never really paid that much attention to her (NJ resident) but she was so smart and articulate and passionate about defending democracy.

I love Lawrence's show. He gives me hope.

by Anonymousreply 152February 21, 2024 11:52 PM

Katy, grow your hair back.

by Anonymousreply 153February 21, 2024 11:55 PM

by Anonymousreply 155February 22, 2024 1:42 AM

Thank you, Lawrence.

by Anonymousreply 156February 22, 2024 2:04 AM

Something is wrong with Ms. Tur way beyond huh hair. Hard to believe it’s just the kids, or estrangement from her tranny dad. She does not even vaguely resemble the reporter who followed Twitler on the 2016 campaign trail then wrote a good book about the experience.

Hopefully Andrea Mitchell/ Chris Jansing/ Katy Tur were watching Lawrence tonight.
Something is wrong with Ms. Tur way beyond huh hair

Yep, I noticed that too. I think her personal life is bleeding into her work. That "is it fair" comment sounds more like it came from something she's going through than anything about Dump. Although it may not be her personal life, could be shitty corporate office politics at work. Or maybe she wants out of that marriage, or having kids not what she thought it would be cracked up to be. I miss the old Katie who was forced to fallow Trump and was a scrappy young journalist on the road instead of the boring soccer mom she has become.

by Anonymousreply 166February 22, 2024 8:49 AM

R158 a lot of schools have winter break this week. Hayes is probably somewhere warm and sunny with kids wife and kids.

Tur was horrible yesterday with the Alabama IVF couple. I'd already accepted that she was a Republican, but I see ehe is also a horrible person.
Alabama court ruled frozen embryos are children. Experts explain potential impacts to IVF treatment.

I'm paraphrasing, but she asked the couple, who had just that day been denied the ability to have a viable embryo implanted, "Why are you doing this?" Meaning why are you doing IVF. Why are you doing this? Why are you doing this? Is Tur purposely evil?

I wanted to scream at the TV, "To have a child, bitch, like you have and maybe no longer want."

by Anonymousreply 169February 22, 2024 11:29 AM

Tur is GOP by her commentaries.

by Anonymousreply 170February 22, 2024 11:40 AM

I can't imagine Katy isn't bitter about getting demoted from that prime hour hosting before Ari to the graveyard known as 3 pm. I guess the shakeup happened when she was on her first pregnancy leave?

by Anonymousreply 171February 22, 2024 12:52 PM

Joe's show should be renamed Grumpy Old Men.

by Anonymousreply 172February 22, 2024 1:41 PM

They’re clearing grooming Jen to take over someone’s slot.

by Anonymousreply 173February 22, 2024 2:31 PM

And a good thing, too. They have so many clunkers.

by Anonymousreply 174February 22, 2024 3:26 PM

I like Jen a lot. She is whip smart and knows her stuff. But someone needs to tell her to stop talking over her guests All.The.Time.

I'm starting to think she's now convinced she's the smartest person in the room. I hope her success has not gone to her head.

by Anonymousreply 175February 22, 2024 4:16 PM

R175 maybe she’s being mentored by Joey S?

by Anonymousreply 176February 22, 2024 4:19 PM

I think with Jen it's that she's just nervous to have a few seconds of empty space and so comes back with a response to her guest before the guest has barely finished talking. It's not rudeness, just fear. She'll get better with all that very quickly.

by Anonymousreply 177February 22, 2024 5:13 PM

Chris Jansing just laughed-off this morning's ongoing AT&T outage nightmare. How disappointing! She is usually so sane and levelheaded. We need calm assurance during an emergency, not lighthearted banter.

Looks like I'll be making up with CNN.

by Anonymousreply 178February 22, 2024 5:32 PM

It seems the lighthearted banter is ubiquitous across networks and shows.

In my naivete, sometimes I want to scream at the screen "What are you all laughing about?" But I imagine they are all already aware that their hair should be perpetually on fire, and that there is a limit to our collective misery.

I've been told all my life that I should lighten up. Though all the people that told me I was overreacting in 2016 have lately been quiet.

by Anonymousreply 179February 22, 2024 6:00 PM

So if Tur is a GOP asskisser does her husband also kiss fascist ass?

by Anonymousreply 180February 22, 2024 6:03 PM

Even though they removed the Morning Joe Channel from Peacock, The 1 Hr MJ recap is still better than the entire MSNBC morning program between MJ and DWH.

I watch the MJ recap and the check into to Nicolle/Alicia (@ 4pm ET) to get the first analysis on what happened TODAY. If the first block is Gaza, I move to NBC Now for 20 mins.

MSNBC needs to stream in its entirety on Peacock. I will pay whatever single channel, single user fee cable pays them.

by Anonymousreply 181February 22, 2024 6:59 PM

How far to the extreme left do you have to be to think Katy Tard is a Republican, let alone a Trump partisan?! As if she’d be a MSNBC regular if she were.

by Anonymousreply 182February 22, 2024 7:53 PM

R184, Joe Scarborough & Michael Steele are clearly no longer republicans. Just as the majority of white working men are no longer Democrats. It’s called the Great Realignment. You really should look into it.

by Anonymousreply 193February 23, 2024 4:03 AM

Steele recently considered running for Governor of Maryland as a Republican. It is true that Scarborough left the party, but that was long after he started working for MSNBC. The Great Realignment is indeed a fascinating topic to look into, but completely irrelevant to the topic at hand.

by Anonymousreply 194February 23, 2024 4:11 AM

by Anonymousreply 202February 23, 2024 4:31 PM

There are dumb Democrats. Sheesh.

by Anonymousreply 203February 23, 2024 4:37 PM

It’s not so much that this is an especially dumb country. It’s that this is an especially poorly educated country that allows too much local control over public schools, and has allowed people who don’t want their children to be taught anything they find “offensive” to opt out of public schools entirely into “religious” academies and even home-schooling.

We have an entire section of the country that wants to cling to any justification for slavery rather than confront its past. They even created a religion to defend slavery. And we let them wallow in their own ignorance as some kind of right.

by Anonymousreply 204February 23, 2024 4:43 PM

Dumb Democrats aren't a threat; dumb Republicans are.

by Anonymousreply 206February 23, 2024 4:49 PM

I got this insider poll from MSNBC:

Hello -

Today we have a short survey about a few MSNBC anchors.

This survey should take less than 5 minutes to complete.

Please click below to share your feedback:

It was three questions about Nicolle returning NEXT WEEK!

These viewer polls are sneaky, and the main question was who do want to greet Nicolle back during her first week, and it had us rank the entire afternoon/evening hosts.

As a person with a master’s degree, that required stats and rankings this was not about greetings but ranking viewers preferences in hosts as they exempted Rachel.

I think this was a screw job on Alex Wagner and ranked Melber and Rhule last.

Anyone else get the survey?

by Anonymousreply 212February 23, 2024 8:13 PM

Nicolle Joins Us!!!!

by Anonymousreply 213February 23, 2024 8:14 PM

As much as I love and respect Alex Wagner there's just something sad and depressing about her show. It just seems to regurgitate everything and every guest from every show that day and she always seems exhausted and deflated to me, like she knows and she'd rather be anywhere else. I won't be at all surprised if she's replaced by Jen Psaki in after the November election or certainly by the new year.

by Anonymousreply 214February 23, 2024 10:05 PM

I really wish Ari would drop the Rap quote routine. He thinks it makes him sound more hip or that he's spreading the insights of Rap lyrics, but it does nothing but make him like like a wannabe Rapper who went to law school instead. His guests play along because, well they have to.

This is not my projection, one of his favorite Rappers mentioned his name in one of his song lyrics. Ari almost came with excitement, talking endlessly about it, played a segment of the song on his show, how humbled he was with his brush with greatness.

2] Mary sued for the documents and found out that her mother had been screwed By Uncle Donald.

3] They were partial documents that she gave to Craig to further investigate.

4] Because, up to that time, no Trump Docs were ever revealed to the public, Craig ran with them.

5] The rest is Trump Org tax record history.

6] Is the Mary Trump estate suit still active.

by Anonymousreply 275February 25, 2024 9:13 PM

Mary Trump was on Lawrence O'Donnell's show the other night. I haven't seen her in a while (or as the horrible saying goes - 'it's been a minute!' ). I can't get over how much she has aged (looks far older than her reported 61 years) , and she looks more and more like a Trump. Her speech seemed a bit off, too. I wonder if all this legal stuff with the family is wearing her down ?

by Anonymousreply 276February 25, 2024 9:45 PM

Damn Ayman, those thighs!

by Anonymousreply 277February 25, 2024 11:20 PM

But is there a reason for animosity between Mary T and Susanne? That's what I'm missing.

by Anonymousreply 278February 25, 2024 11:32 PM

What is that particular accent of Susanne's? I can't quite place it.

by Anonymousreply 279February 25, 2024 11:33 PM

Susanne Craig is from Calgary, Canada. Hence the accent.

by Anonymousreply 280February 25, 2024 11:51 PM

I have to say Susanne has grown on me - especially when she was on MSNBC the weekend of the 'half billion dollar fine'. She explained everything so clearly so even the viewers who have not been following have a sense of what this is all about, and how the fine is going to wipe Trump out. She really knows her stuff.

by Anonymousreply 281February 26, 2024 12:27 AM

Ari, know your and MSNBC's audience.

by Anonymousreply 282February 26, 2024 12:28 AM

There should be animosity between Suzanne and Mary as they both are enabling the other's best work, plus, Mary is in line for a Trump windfall. I hope Melania doesn't get in line before her.

by Anonymousreply 283February 26, 2024 12:52 AM

Should or shouldn't, r283?

by Anonymousreply 284February 26, 2024 2:48 AM

Thanks for the clarification request:

There should be NO animosity between Suzanne and Mary as they both are enabling the other's best work, plus, Mary is in line for a Trump windfall. I hope Melania doesn't get in line before her.
So Biden wins over 70% of the vote and yet MSNBC shows interviews with a Muslim woman and a purple haired they/them on their 'uncommitted vote.'

The agenda of ALL television news is to compel the viewer to keep watching and not change the channel. Period. The only way to compel the audience to stay glued to the screen is to create anxiety. When the facts alone do not create anxiety or sufficient curiosity, news media will use or create " stress points " around the facts in the form of negative conclusions or outcomes that could occur as a result of the event or that the event portends) A narrative emerges that they can use over and over again. Election cycles are peak times for this, but its constant no matter what is happening. "Breaking News" runs as a chiron non-stop because they know that even when the viewer knows they are being manipulated, their anxiety will compel them to look.

The news is not the news, its a mini action movie fashioned out of the facts on the ground. Save yourself and ONLY get your news from print media which is just as manipulative but it doesn't have the same impact on your biochemistry and you can at least get some perspective.

My advice is to work like your life depends on it to get Biden reelected (because it does) All journalists know that Dump is far, FAR worse than even what the general public knows about him but the news business is show business and a good show needs suspense

Save yourself. turn off the TV and VOTE. Vote for Democrats only, the Republicans are planning the autocracy as we speak, and they are fine with it. There are no good Republicans left. They will all fall in line

They all wash each other's backs. It's disappointing, but not surprising.

Take some of the time you spend (rightly so) trashing trump and trash some of their fellow enablers.

Peter Baker from the NYT is a great example of cheap shot both siderism always at the expense of the Democrats. But there are many more in clear sight.

I'd love to see a roundtable of mea culpas, talking about what they did to enable, why they did it, and their part in the ascendance of trump.

by Anonymousreply 363February 28, 2024 5:42 PM

Mr. Nicolle Wallace talking about Baby Izzy.

by Anonymousreply 364February 28, 2024 6:03 PM

My point is that how he - Baker - presents stories - and they do tilt, if only because he both sides everything - yet MSNBC continues to promote him as being a neutral commentator. He is not neutral.

It doesn't matter how smart Baker and Glasser are - how they write and present the news is what matters. And if they're so smart, why are they not reporting the news in an objective manner - because they do not. They write for clicks just like almost all the rest. Or write for their employers.

If they are so smart why isn't every article they write clear about the dangers that trump represents instead of - looking at you, Peter - filling his precious column inches with bullshit about Biden's age? Smart people know that when we're dealing with Biden vs Trump, Biden's age doesn't mean fuck-all.

by Anonymousreply 365February 28, 2024 6:50 PM
My point is that how he - Baker - presents stories - and they do tilt, if only because he both sides everything - yet MSNBC continues to promote him as being a neutral commentator. He is not neutral.

They're both OPINION analysts.

by Anonymousreply 366February 28, 2024 6:52 PM

I'm not sure if you're explaining them, or excusing them. I may be misunderstanding.

They don't write for the Opinion pages. Their output is presented as news, not their opinions.

by Anonymousreply 367February 28, 2024 6:58 PM
They don't write for the Opinion pages. Their output is presented as news, not their opinions.

Maybe I'm at a disadvantage in this discussion, but I subscribe to both the NYT & the NYer. It's inarguable that Glasser is an opinion writer. Baker, maybe not entirely, but his byline often accompanies analysis pieces.

by Anonymousreply 368February 28, 2024 7:05 PM

Lisa Rubin pushing back against Katy Bear Tur.

by Anonymousreply 369February 28, 2024 7:20 PM

You're right, and I should have been more specific. Glasser would be considered an opinion writer, and it doesn't matter how smart she is. Baker's byline may accompany analysis, but our point is that Baker's analyses always both-sides everything. And there aren't two VALID sides to every argument about Trump.

And if you're writing about Hunter Biden's access to Joe Biden affecting his role as the President, you better the fuck mention the failsons and how they affected Trump's presidency as well as how they might affect a possible second Trump presidency.

And if you're writing about candidate Biden's age, you better the fuck mention the age of the other candidate.

You don't understand the context for that comment, r375?

by Anonymousreply 376February 28, 2024 8:50 PM

Mike Schmidt, in contrast to Peter Baker, IS a "straight" news journalist.

by Anonymousreply 377February 28, 2024 8:56 PM

I always take Peter Baker's "criticism" of Biden (and Democrats in general) as waking us up to fight harder and do better.

by Anonymousreply 378February 28, 2024 9:18 PM

Most journalists are liberal leaning, the job though, is to keep the ball in the air. You can't reassure your audience and keep them, you have to keep them scared and on edge to be engaged with your outlet/platform/ etc.

Having said that, no matter how liberal you are, as a journalist you get bombarded with calls from republicans pushing their agenda, and it does have an impact even on the most liberal leaning reporters. Lemire is often criticized here for his both siderism with Biden, but he has to keep his sources alive and active by throwing them something. Lemire and his wife are both liberals but the JOB is getting eyeballs and clicks and you don't do that by being a slave to the obvious truth. Also keep in mind, most of these reporters get death threats, 90 % are from the right very few from the left. That tends to temper your reporting like it or not

R407, in all likelihood, there will be a Republican majority in the Senate next year, one that will be difficult to dislodge for many years. In what world are you imagining a “Democratic Super Majority” there?!

by Anonymousreply 409February 29, 2024 7:52 PM

Keep on thinking that r409, no beets for you!

by Anonymousreply 410February 29, 2024 10:03 PM

I just watched a full hour of Ari Melber being as much as or more than the usual asshole. (And it was stiff competition of who was the bigger asshole since Carville was on.)

Can someone explain Melber to me, please? What is it he brings to the table? Why does he have his own show?

I don't care how smart he is, he's generally an asshole and a buffoon, negating whatever his smarts could provide.

What's the story?

by Anonymousreply 411February 29, 2024 11:02 PM

That color Joy is wearing is beautiful.

by Anonymousreply 412February 29, 2024 11:55 PM

R411 Years ago, when he first got started, I used to watch Ari all the time. He was handsome, sexy and smart. Over the years, he's aged terribly (he looks ten years older tan his 43 years) and looks grubby looking - no longer sexy. His smartness has become smugness. I usually tune into him for about five minutes or so, but inevitably change the channel. I think he's done - they need to replace him.

by Anonymousreply 413March 1, 2024 12:03 AM

He has a tragic case of middle-aged white guy trying to be hip while letting us know how he's no intellectual lightweight. I haven't watched him in about three years. Does he still quote rappers' lyrics relating them to whatever topic at hand? The cringe factor was off-the-scale.

by Anonymousreply 414March 1, 2024 12:24 AM

Yes to the rap lyrics. Many of the guests, including rap artists that he's trying to impress, look at him like he has two heads

I'd almost be embarrassed for him, except for his being. generally repulsive.

by Anonymousreply 415March 1, 2024 12:30 AM

Thank you, Madame Speaker...

by Anonymousreply 416March 1, 2024 12:36 AM

Joy and Toure had an interesting conversation about black rappers - and their support for Trump. He mentioned 'sexy Red' and openly said she didn't know what she was talking about when she gave her reasons for backing Trump (stimulus checks, which was the product of the Dems). They called out another rapper (Big Mike?) who said he dislikes Trump but loves sneakers - so he did a Tik Tok video of 'unboxing' the sneakers. I'm glad they had this discussion. Joy did say only 14% of black men support Trump, so it's not as bad as it seems.

by Anonymousreply 417March 1, 2024 12:42 AM

Fat Joe unboxed the sneakers, and he’s an idiot.

by Anonymousreply 418March 1, 2024 12:46 AM

Fat Joe is a regular on one of the FOX shows - Guttfield.

by Anonymousreply 419March 1, 2024 12:53 AM

Mika, Joe, Willie on the Lawrence/Chris Hayes 4 day work schedule.

by Anonymousreply 420March 1, 2024 5:42 AM

Mar-A-Lardo documents hearing adjourns without trial date.

by Anonymousreply 421March 1, 2024 7:08 PM

4 day work with 15 minutes on the weekends. They re-hash the weeks videos like it's new content with a 1 minuted per-recorded clip of "stay tuned for more this weekend". Mika probably getting paid for 2 extra full days and over time. Nice gig if you can get it.

But then I would never suck Joe's cock so there is that.

by Anonymousreply 422March 1, 2024 7:09 PM

Brandon Van Grack is cute but he always looks like he’d rather be someplace else.

by Anonymousreply 423March 1, 2024 8:51 PM

by Anonymousreply 424March 1, 2024 8:53 PM

No, Ari, Rachel didn't call it BS, she called it BP.

by Anonymousreply 425March 1, 2024 10:21 PM

Well bred ... I mean well said, Black Florida Man.

by Anonymousreply 426March 1, 2024 10:37 PM

by Anonymousreply 429March 1, 2024 11:40 PM

Joy Reid is interviewing Roan Wade, the idiot who went on a 12 day hunger strike to protest Dartmouth College's 'approach to Israel-Hamas war'. Poor thing looked like she was going to collapse on camera, but she said she was in 'good health' since being released from the hospital (but some of her other hunger strikers are still in the hospital). I wonder if a Big Mac meal was waiting for her off-camera ?

by Anonymousreply 430March 1, 2024 11:45 PM

Wait, so are there Kornacki dong pics here or not?

by Anonymousreply 431March 1, 2024 11:53 PM

Katie Porter needs to wax that mustache.

by Anonymousreply 432March 2, 2024 12:30 AM

Katie Porter and Chris Hayes looked like twin siblings on the split screen. Who told her that Vera bradley blouse was a good idea to wear on TV tonight ?

by Anonymousreply 433March 2, 2024 1:01 AM

Katie Porter is AWESOME!!!! She's going to be are next senator in CA if she wins.

Yes, she looks like a school teacher because she is one or was. But she's also a lawyer, don't be fooled by her schoolmarm image, she knows how to put kids in their place and most of what's in Congress is childish behavior so there you go. Hopefully she give Marge a time out.

by Anonymousreply 435March 2, 2024 1:31 AM

WOW! Alex Wagner was so far up Bernie Sanders ass tonight, she could see his tonsils.

by Anonymousreply 436March 2, 2024 1:45 AM

Oh how terrible that Alex actually takes it a bit to the left from center right. Just shocking, how could MSNBC do such a thing. Next up, AOC just to see your head explode.

by Anonymousreply 437March 2, 2024 2:47 AM

Which is one reason why I cannot watch Alex Wagner.

by Anonymousreply 438March 2, 2024 4:58 AM

R434, I think Katie needs to give you lessons on the rules of proper English grammar.

by Anonymousreply 439March 2, 2024 5:41 AM

Symone’s smirk when Alicia introduced them.

by Anonymousreply 440March 2, 2024 12:02 PM

They need to add George Conway to 'The Weekend' permanently. He has great chemistry with Symone and Steele and adds a lot of common-sense knowledge to the issues at hand. I didn't like him too much a few years ago when he made MSNBC appearances, but he really cleaned up his act and is interesting to listen to these days.

by Anonymousreply 441March 2, 2024 2:07 PM

R441, A man who plunged his dick into Laura Ingraham and then Kellyanne Conway.

by Anonymousreply 442March 2, 2024 2:10 PM

I doubt George wants a regular gig.

by Anonymousreply 443March 2, 2024 2:13 PM

Symone is great. Love her and Michael Steele and George Conway is a good fit.

by Anonymousreply 444March 2, 2024 2:14 PM

"The Weekend" is much better than I ever thought it would be. I really enjoy it - they have great energy (though Alicia sometimes falls behind), great chemistry and know when to change gears (if an interview goes too slow, etc.). I hope this sticks.

by Anonymousreply 445March 2, 2024 2:16 PM

Mary McCord needs that JCrew contract!

by Anonymousreply 448March 2, 2024 4:26 PM

Why are they making a big deal about trump “winning “ GOP Idaho and Missouri? Who else would have won the GOP?

by Anonymousreply 449March 2, 2024 11:11 PM

It is the first GOPrimary where Nikki didn't challenge him. Pure red states.

The Biden Campaign is charting states he is weak in as an incumbent.

by Anonymousreply 450March 2, 2024 11:15 PM

Katy Tur normal on podcasts, not on MSNBC.

Alex Wagner & Chris Hayes are the worst primetime hosts.

How do we get those 2 morons fired?

by Anonymousreply 453March 3, 2024 7:20 AM

^Agreed. How about a combined petition, then compromising photos? Full documentation of their Fox like promotion of Hamas propaganda couldn’t hurt either.

What about Willie Geist, how much does the third wheel get?

by Anonymousreply 456March 3, 2024 8:07 AM
[R449], Why did they make a big deal about Biden “winning” the South Carolina primary?

It showed Biden running as a traditional unopposed incumbent and Trump as a loser who hhas ALREADY lost a third of his party.

The Big Deal is that Nikki is stress testing Trump as a Republican candidate for all the TRADITIONAL non-MAGA Republicans who may still exist.

For the Biden Campaign, it shows where Republicans for Biden can be cultivated.

Thank you, Nikki.

by Anonymousreply 457March 3, 2024 12:54 PM

R457, Biden did not run unopposed in SC and Nikki’s campaign ends on March 5th.

by Anonymousreply 458March 3, 2024 1:00 PM

Those Republicans not voting for Trump in the primaries will however vote for him in November when the alternative is Biden/Harris.

by Anonymousreply 459March 3, 2024 1:02 PM

r458, true, but the final SC total was Biden 100% of the Delegates.

That is how a solid incumbent runs.

As opposed to a weak Trump who is winning with a significantly smaller majority against a Never Trumper Nikki Haley.

Biden is keeping his powder dry until Trump is a lock.

by Anonymousreply 460March 3, 2024 1:32 PM

The words “solid incumbent” and Joe Biden do not belong in the same sentence, especially in SC(aka Clyburnville).

Trump will be unvanquished when Nikki goes bye-bye after Super Tuesday.

Let’s be honest, Biden is day to day. No one would be surprised to hear that Joe passed in his sleep during the night.

by Anonymousreply 461March 3, 2024 1:40 PM

I wouldn’t be surprised if Trump’s head exploded.

Nikki is a politically expedient opportunist.

by Anonymousreply 481March 4, 2024 5:13 PM

Belcher: "*snorts* Look...uh, well, just...no. That's just an absurd sort of thought--...

Lawrence doesn't suffer fools gladly. Sometime ago there was an MSNBC panel covering either primaries or the actual 2020 election. Nicolle Wallace, Rachel Maddow, I think Joy and perhaps Ari, Lawrence and Donny Deutsch.

Deutsch has ahead of steam about himself in general, and he went off with some kind of opinion presenting it as political fact. Lawrence looking very unruffled immediately responded by saying that contributes absolutely nothing to the discussion because it has no basis in data and no real meaning (effectively letting Deutsch and the audience know what he thought of him as political commenter).

Omg, Donny started to splutter and defend himself, no one cared. Camera cut away. I will see if I can come up with the clip.

They've been having "live coverage" from some of the major polling locations across the country today. I'm pretty shocked that here it is late morning / early afternoon, and so many of these places are empty. There are more workers than there are voters.

by Anonymousreply 515March 5, 2024 5:37 PM

That's because millions of Republicans are now turned off by Dump and don't care to vote.

by Anonymousreply 516March 5, 2024 5:41 PM
I'm pretty shocked that here it is late morning / early afternoon, and so many of these places are empty. There are more workers than there are voters.

by Anonymousreply 518March 5, 2024 5:43 PM

I know a lot of people who don't bother voting in primaries when they're for an incumbent like Biden, who doesn't really have anybody strong running against him.

Unless there are local issues, of course.

by Anonymousreply 519March 5, 2024 6:51 PM

by Anonymousreply 527March 5, 2024 8:53 PM

I feel bad for Alicia M. She filled in for Nicolle W during her maternity leave, and did such an excellent job every single day. Now guests are coming back on the show and gushing over Nicolle, telling her how much they've missed her, etc. It's kind of a slap in the face to Alicia. It's fine to welcome NW back, of course, but to gush all over her and let he know 'how much she was missed' really borderlines on insulting Alicia and all she did at the table holding down the show.

by Anonymousreply 528March 5, 2024 9:10 PM

by Anonymousreply 555March 6, 2024 4:26 AM

Katie Porter is a fucking tool!

by Anonymousreply 556March 6, 2024 4:48 AM

Ugh Alex Wagner is exhausting.

by Anonymousreply 557March 6, 2024 4:54 AM

I love Katie, just not for that job. She always call Repugs out from their own game.

by Anonymousreply 558March 6, 2024 5:04 AM

r551, Katie Porter will make an excellent Secretary of the Treasury.

Does MSNBC pay Rachel Maddow by the word?

by Anonymousreply 563March 6, 2024 9:42 AM

Joe is on fire this morning.

Ratner killed it.

Loved yesterday when Joe took the Southern Baptists to the woodshed for leaving being pro choice for pro life on POLITICAL grounds. Read Jerry Falwell for filth. I live for a Mika eye roll.

Talking about Mika's brother the Ambassador to Poland and traitor Trump, beautiful.

by Anonymousreply 564March 6, 2024 11:10 AM

^ Traitor Trump should definitely be on the agenda. Juxtaposing JFK’s & Reagan’s inaugural address & tear down this wall speeches, respectively, with Trump’s various pro-Putin, anti-West pronouncements. And throw in 1/6 & Trump’s other anti-Constitution utterances for good measure.

by Anonymousreply 565March 6, 2024 11:27 AM

I never get tired of former Senator Claire McCaskill on MSNBC. She should get her own show.

by Anonymousreply 566March 6, 2024 5:00 PM

From her kitchen.

by Anonymousreply 567March 6, 2024 5:17 PM

A different baked good every day!

by Anonymousreply 568March 6, 2024 5:38 PM

They could call it

"Under the Dome with Claire"

by Anonymousreply 569March 6, 2024 5:53 PM

That's an excellent name for her show, r569.

by Anonymousreply 570March 6, 2024 6:03 PM

“Bored to Death with Claire”

by Anonymousreply 571March 6, 2024 6:05 PM

No, r571

by Anonymousreply 572March 6, 2024 6:07 PM

That is perfection R569

by Anonymousreply 573March 6, 2024 7:39 PM

Today, under the dome...

bundt or bear claws?

by Anonymousreply 574March 6, 2024 7:41 PM

How dense are you, Nicolle, not to know what donald means when he says he doesn't like Nimarata Haley's complexion? SMH.

Run, Mike Schmidt! Get away while you can!

by Anonymousreply 575March 6, 2024 8:34 PM

Hans Nichols was on with Stephanie. Now there's a blast from the past; I haven't seen him on MSNBC in years. I suspect they're getting the band back together for the arduous election season. It's good to see the return of old favorites.

by Anonymousreply 576March 7, 2024 3:58 AM
Hans Nichols was on with Stephanie. Now there's a blast from the past; I haven't seen him on MSNBC in years.

He was a Pentagon and White House correspondent for NBC News, so he used to appear all the time. But he left NBC in 2020 for Axios, so he stopped appearing regularly.

by Anonymousreply 577March 7, 2024 5:38 AM

And we know what a flaming success AXIOS became (sarc)

by Anonymousreply 578March 7, 2024 7:59 AM

Another great example of Jake Sherman's bias and both-sides cheap shot writing...

Yesterday he was on talking about how raucous State of The Union speeches have become. What he neglected to say to put it in context - or just speak the truth - is that it all originated and continues to be a problem because of REUBLICANS.. One side. Not both sides.

It took me less than 30 seconds on the internet to find this explanation. Too bad he can't find the time to do the same, from his vaulted position.

(2023)
When South Carolina Rep. Joe Wilson yelled “You lie!” during a 2009 speech President Barack Obama delivered to Congress, the breach of decorum quickly became the evening’s most notable moment. Members of both parties condemned the outburst, which was a response to the President’s claim that his health care plan would not apply to undocumented immigrants. After being booed by his colleagues, Wilson issued an apology and expressed contrition to Obama’s chief of staff.
Fourteen years later, heckling, booing, and yelling at the President has become the norm.
During this year’s State of the Union speech on Tuesday, Republicans shouted at President Joe Biden on-and-off throughout the address. Though they were occasionally met by shushing and calls for order, those efforts didn’t end the interruptions.
At the beginning, things seemed to be going smoothly, with Democrats whooping, cheering, and applauding many of Biden’s points and Republicans clapping politely or, most of the time, remaining pointedly silent. But that changed when Biden moved on to the debt ceiling and accused Republicans of wanting to sunset Social Security and Medicare.
Biden’s suggestion led to one of the loudest reactions of the evening, with many Republicans booing and shouting “No!” in response. “Liar!” yelled Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who sat in the back of the chamber wearing a white fur outfit almost as loud as her outcry. But rather than becoming the defining moment of the event, the remark just opened the floodgates.

[bold]The media is killing us.[/bold]

What's become of Jonathan Swan (speaking of Axios)? Does he appear on MSNBC and I just keep missing him? Does he appear somewhere else? And yes, I know his wife Betsy appears on MSNBC.

R580, He pops up occasionally on FOX News Channel.

MJ is depressing. Any alternatives? They don't even bother to survey the news.

by Anonymousreply 582March 7, 2024 1:22 PM

Jonathan Swan is now regularly seen on the pages of the NYT. Often sharing a byline with Maggie Haberman.

by Anonymousreply 583March 7, 2024 1:55 PM

Thanks. But I wonder why Swan, who has a face for TV, is not on it more.

by Anonymousreply 584March 7, 2024 1:57 PM

Joe replaying the Trump brain thaw where he ends his word salad with a sad aawwwwwww was hilarious. Wait I was on the phone, play it again..

Joe was brutal.

Who is the Black bald Democratic strategist Steve who was just on jose Diaz Balart?

by Anonymousreply 588March 7, 2024 2:43 PM

I am answering my own question above. That was former Columbia, South Carolina mayor, Steve Benjamin, now a Biden advisor. So

by Anonymousreply 589March 7, 2024 3:17 PM

R586, yes I saw R581’s link. But that was from a September (not clear if that was 2021 or 2022) episode of Fox’s Special Report, at a time Swan was still at Axios. I - painfully - watch Special Report everyday & Swan, who was once a rather regular guest, has not been back on in a long time, certainly not since he joined the Times in January 2023.

by Anonymousreply 590March 7, 2024 4:27 PM

I don’t even see Betsy that much. Only rarely.

by Anonymousreply 591March 7, 2024 5:00 PM

Steve Benjamin, bald Democratic strategist for Biden, must have some worth to the campaign, but he's useless on TV. Nicole and David Jolly were pressing him to answer a question about how the Biden campaign could/should reach out to.Haley voters.

He's a robot without a bit of nuance. David asked the question and got a robotic prepared answer, and Nicole tried asking the same question twice trying - by changing a few words in the same question - to elicit the answer, or any answer. All three times he gave the same robotic answer talking about Biden's accomplishments. It was ridiculous. And he's clueless about the state of the election. Jolly, a former Republican who frequently says the only way out of this mess is to vote for Democrats, was legitimately probing for what the answer might be for Biden to reach Haley undecideds. Benjamin couldn't get passed his canned response, which didn't come close to really answering their question.

They gave up and Nicole, who made some comment about the answer being the same day by day, ended the interview while she and David smiled and repressed laughter.

As always, Democrats need some serious help in getting out their message, and Benjamin is useless at it.
