When gen alpha brings back skinny jeans and gladiator sandals
by Anonymous | reply 1 | February 4, 2024 10:10 AM |
Huge butt jeans are not for me.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | February 4, 2024 10:51 AM |
I haven't seen mom jeans forever, are they still a thing?
by Anonymous | reply 3 | February 4, 2024 10:55 AM |
R3: Mom jeans came back BECAUSE of Gen Z. They like it because it hides their fat! And they are extremely fat! F-A-T!
by Anonymous | reply 4 | February 4, 2024 11:01 AM |
^ Ok, being a Gay man the last thing I look at is middle-aged women đŹ
by Anonymous | reply 5 | February 4, 2024 11:12 AM |
r4 I notice super skinny girls and twinks in them all the time. It's just the trend.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | February 4, 2024 11:15 AM |
Finally finally skin tight bottoms and leggings might be on the wane
by Anonymous | reply 7 | February 4, 2024 11:17 AM |
R5: The women wearing mom jeans are young women. Gen Z.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | February 4, 2024 11:23 AM |
Skinny boys in high-waisted, high-water elephant bells are a hit on campus. The medieval bowl cut is the cerise sur le gateau.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | February 4, 2024 11:41 AM |
I havenât seen jeans much at all. The women I see in the Midwest all wear leggings with ugly prints because there is no way they can get a pair of jeans to zip up and button around their âcurves.â
by Anonymous | reply 10 | February 4, 2024 11:47 AM |
OP, couldn't agree more.
Brooke knows how an older gal should wear jeans:
by Anonymous | reply 11 | February 4, 2024 12:19 PM |
I drive by crowds of high school zoomers every day and no fatties anywhere. Haven't noticed baggy jeans either.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | February 4, 2024 12:38 PM |
I work in a high school and they started wearing these five years ago. Not a lot of overweight students on my campus. I honestly think they are better than skinny jeansâwhich just looked bad on most people.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | February 4, 2024 1:30 PM |
Not something I am seeing in NY. In fact, rarely see women wearing jeans.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | February 4, 2024 1:39 PM |
@r10, This, what I see in the midwest are yoga pants with gigantic bulky tops. Still fat, but at least they try to cover some of it
by Anonymous | reply 15 | February 4, 2024 3:03 PM |
What do you mean âwide leggedâ
Do you mean boot leg?
Do you mean flares?
Do you mean palazzo pants?
by Anonymous | reply 16 | February 4, 2024 3:11 PM |
H&M markets several wide-legged jean styles as unisex. With dudes, chicks, and gender fluids modeling the different colors.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | February 4, 2024 3:20 PM |
No, wide leg. Not flares, boot leg or palazzo.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | February 4, 2024 4:25 PM |
It is hideous but it's less hideous than the instagram/Kardashian looks all women seem to be adopting these days.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | February 4, 2024 4:37 PM |
Our 13-year-old daughter LOVES wide-legged jeans and she's tall (5'7") and skinny...just sayin'...
by Anonymous | reply 20 | February 4, 2024 4:44 PM |
Better than an over-40 stuffed into low riders.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | February 4, 2024 8:24 PM |
R19 trenchant fashion fad reporting. Nowadays, women are taking up Kardashian looks!
by Anonymous | reply 22 | February 4, 2024 8:37 PM |
OP, do you mean to complain about the pants being high waisted? As that is what mom jeans usually mean and that is what you've shown us. A picture showing the full length of the pants would be helpful.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | February 4, 2024 9:44 PM |
Wide leg jeans are awful in rainy weather.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | February 4, 2024 10:19 PM |
Put on your mom jeeeeans.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | February 4, 2024 11:27 PM |
I canât wear pants that end above the ankles. Nobody makes pants for short women. âŠtheyâre all long.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | February 4, 2024 11:30 PM |
High waisted, wide leg pants look so much better on overweight women than low rise, bell bottoms, or skinny jeans/leggings
by Anonymous | reply 28 | February 5, 2024 1:47 AM |
Sure they do r27. Short or petite. Or get a good tailor or even better learn how to sew a hem.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | February 5, 2024 2:01 AM |
Just tell them they make them look fat. Gone!
by Anonymous | reply 30 | February 5, 2024 2:26 AM |
B29, how does one hem jeans? I thought you need that special sewing machine to do that.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | February 5, 2024 5:30 AM |
For a blind hem there's a special machine r31, but jean hems just need a heavy needle, double folding and either a thick and contrasting thread, or just regular thread. Most home hem jobs use the latter.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | February 5, 2024 7:56 AM |
Iâve done french seems with old Etro plaid scraps. Nobody sees it, but itâs amusing and easier than hand sewing through three layers of denim.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | February 5, 2024 8:11 AM |
You can use a regular machine
by Anonymous | reply 34 | February 5, 2024 8:21 AM |
No, you do not cut and "fold over" jean hems. A tuck is made just above the original hem in order to keep the original stitching.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | February 5, 2024 12:11 PM |
I think part of the appeal is that the baggy clothes make it very apparent how skinny you are if you're really thin, you look like a flying squirrel or something.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | February 5, 2024 12:20 PM |
[quote] Short or petite. Or get a good tailor or even better learn how to sew a hem.
Not for me. Iâm 4â11 and even for a short person I have short arms and legs. The only tailor closed down due to high rents and my pants need to be cut and hemmed, not just hemmed. Basting pants with a folded under 6â hem looks bizarre.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | February 6, 2024 2:59 AM |
Oh..I also have scoliosis. My legs arenât even and I always had to tell tailors âYou canât make a chalk mark and a couple pins in it. You have to chalk and pin the hem all the way around the leg because it dips in the back.â
When I lived in NYC I had a great tailor from Armenia who explained to me why pants never came out hemmed right for me. But the neighborhood gentrified and he got priced out years ago, poor guy. Now the local tailor where I live got priced out and he was in an old, unrenovated house. He raised his prices sky high but still couldnât hold onto his lease.
Real estate speculators/investors suck.

Mom jeans hides Zoomers' fatness.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | February 6, 2024 9:27 AM |
The thrift stores must be loaded with these things from the closets of grandmas whoâve passed away.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | February 6, 2024 10:06 AM |
I went to my friend's daughter's Parent's Weekend at Michigan State and almost ALL the girls were wearing the high-waisted, distressed mom jeans with a barely-there tank top or knotted/wrapped button-up shirt. I mean, almost ALL the girls were wearing this "uniform." You'd see some with the leggings and sweatpants (as "going out" attire...another tragic trend) but most had on the clone get-up. Sad too because a lot of the girls were cute. I do like how the kids are hip to vintage/thrift store finds, though. They don't seem to be label whores as much as previous generations and appreciate a good deal on clothing.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | February 6, 2024 12:57 PM |
That is true R41. Gen Z doesnât care about labels. Millenials are the worst label whores of any generation
by Anonymous | reply 42 | February 6, 2024 1:07 PM |
[quote]When is it going to end?
Depends
by Anonymous | reply 43 | February 6, 2024 1:33 PM |
[quote] Gen Z doesnât care about labels.
Nah. They're just going through their pretentious phase!
by Anonymous | reply 44 | February 6, 2024 7:55 PM |
Gen Z coeds have moved on from form-fitting yoga pants to baggy â80s style sweat pants. The Uggs and center parted hair retain their perennial status.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | February 6, 2024 8:40 PM |
Sick of seeing pot bellies and love handles when fat chicks in low riders don't wear long enough tops to cover their flab.
Can do without seeing all the chubbies in leggings that show off their butts and entire legs.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | February 7, 2024 9:27 AM |
This one ruined the long, wide-leg, high-waisted look.
Those hems dragging on the ground!
by Anonymous | reply 47 | February 14, 2024 11:06 AM |
Ugh. not opening those. Get her off my screen.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | February 14, 2024 12:45 PM |
R41 I see the exact same thing at the university where I work.
