Wendy Williams made a career by slinging mud and outing people. She was especially cruel to others with substance abuse issues while she herself was actively using and abusing.

About a year ago, I seem to recall that a camera crew was following Wendy and she said it was for some "upcoming endeavor". This was when she was really messed up and was seen going into liquor stores and getting into taxis and nodding off on a couch in some gallery. Wendy made it seem like this video was going to be a glimpse into her fabulous life in NY and would be used to promote that new podcast she kept promising but never happened. This was also around the time when she was slurring and stumbling around NYC saying weird shit and was probably too out of it to realize that any video was just going to show someone who needed rehab.
I just thought it was some leech production team saw a trainwreck and wanted to get it all on film and told Wendy it would be fabulous, and she believed it. I think this is that video but I will say that Wendy looks semi-rational in some of the pics in this thread. Maybe she is (getting) better.

It looks rough. It must feel so awful to have enjoyed such good fortune and success, and then publicly let it slip through your fingers. I didnât watch her program but I saw her in clips and videos. Before her show she was a DJ in the NYC metro markets, and I think earlier a scrappy âon the sceneâ entertainment reporter. I remember one clip where she called out to a famous actress, who proceeded to ignore her. Williams turned the camera and said âoh there SHE goesâŠâ

If I hadn't watched Wendy decline while her show was on the air, I would think that she was faking it in the Lifetime thing to make for a "juicier" watch. It is so dramatic it seems like some writer sat down and constructed a pilot where we see a woman who is going through many personal issues, but I saw Wendy go downhill/act strange those last 3-4 years onstage of her daily talk show so I see that this is real life.
But who is behind this doc... Wendy herself or someone looking to make a few bucks by exposing a trainwreck? This doesn't make Wendy look good, but if Wendy is in a declining state, is she too far gone to realize? This is not the process of a phoenix rising from the ashes.

She was more coherent in this documentary than she has seemed the past few times she has been on video (such as a TMZ video chat where she seemed very unwell and was barely able to string together a couple of clear sentences). But my question is what was she drinking while lying on her sofa? Cheap bottled sangria, poured into a glass? Kool-Aid with vodka? It was very yellow, and she seemed to really need whatever it was, telling someone who was off camera not to take it away.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | February 7, 2024 5:26 PM |
The way she would drag Whitney Houston about her drug addiction, lesbianism, etc., on the radio, karma came back to humble her ass. I haven't watched the documentary, but it sounds more entertaining than the first one she did a few years ago.

Yahoo posted this article about the upcoming doc. A few family members and others give details on Wendy's issues -- a driver tells how he was instructed by Wendy to drive past the studio where her show was taped. Five minutes after going past it, Wendy asked him to drive by again, like she didn't just have him do this already.
Her son says that Wendy has definite cognitive issues, like memory loss, etc. which doctors attribute to years of alcohol abuse. There a 2-3 articles about Wendy linked on Yahoo with some pictures of her back in her radio days and when she first got her TV show. Make sure to scroll down to see Wendy back in the day and gawk at some of the ghetto fabulous outfits, those untamed implants and over the top wigs and accessories. You will have a laugh but it's also sad to see how she has changed physically.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | February 21, 2024 9:52 PM |
R3 that is a wig, not a weave. It's like a hat, you just slap it on.
R5 she is a RAGING alcoholic. She was going through a bottle of vodka a day.
R16 she has Graves' disease and lymphedema made worse by her alcoholism.
Her show was fabulous. She was real and spoke in a way no one else was willing to. She didn't seem afraid of anything. She didn't have any celebrity friends she said because then she couldn't talk about them. She just did her show and went back to her life in NJ. Even when the story turned to her life, she said she didn't blame those for talking about her because that's how she made her career. She knew she was a hot topic.
She knew her husband was having an affair for years, but the agreement was not to get his girlfriend pregnant, especially since she had had like five miscarriages herself. Anyway her husband announced his girlfriend were pregnant and that was that. I feel bad for her - her mom (who was a regular on the show) died around the same time as her husband left her around the same time her son went off to college. So she went from a family around her to nothing all at once. THAT was the nail in the coffin of her show - it was too much for her to take.

Every time I see Wendy's photo on a feed now I brace myself for the news of her death. It's sad.
I think she should've ended the daytime show around 2018, she still had an excellent run. There were warning signs then that she was cracking; it started with random emotional breakdowns on air and she lost a significant amount of weight. There was no way she could balance the personal drama at home, addiction, and getting on TV every morning. Her pride kept her in the marriage and on TV too long.
I'm glad her son is seeing after her now; I think subconsciously she knew her whole life that her kid would be the only person to really understand her.

Lifetime's promo department is sparing no expense to get this out to the masses - ABCâs Good Morning America will talk about the doc tomorrow (2/22) morning and talk to her family members. I wonder who they got... her poor burdened young son Kevin Jr., her shifty brother Tommy, her older sister Wanda, who I've never seen.
I would bet money that it will probably be some distant cousin or aunt who was doesn't really know jack squat but is just hyped to get a trip to NY.

If Karma came for anyone it was her husband. That was revenge served cold. Even though Wendy is a real mess right now, some wonder if the unraveling of her show was partly planned by her to get back at her husband. I do remember before everything fell apart she mentioned on her show that she would not be doing this forever. She had a good solid ten year run. BUT part of the agreement of her divorce and spousal support was that payments to her husband wouldn't continue if her income changed or was severely affected.
Her husband was living high off all of Wendy's work. He had bought a huge home for his mistress, expensive cars, luxury vacations, handbags. As soon as Wendy stopped her show those payments stopped. In the course of a year his mistress left him and he was online selling items JUST to pay his mortgage. And I am sure he has to pay child support to the women. Whereas Wendy still has a lot of money even though it's under a conservatorship, the payments to her husband stopped and he hasn't gotten anything since.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | February 22, 2024 8:15 AM |
I see people making Kevin the villain in Wendy's life, but I just can't feel that bad for Wendy because she LET her husband screw around for years, have a mistress, spend her money, take advantage of her. She made him the producer of her show, let him run rampant in the offices. If she decided to turn a blind eye to all of that, I can't muster much sympathy for her. Her husband is a creep but she enabled that behavior. I feel bad for Wendy because of her health and other issues, but I can't get into the "poor Wendy!" mindset and make her a martyr about her marriage.
She was in charge of this marriage and could have left the guy when he had his first affair while she was pregnant.

A friend of mine has a cousin who did hair and make-up for Wendy on her show a few years ago. It was while Wendy was still married, and her husband was at the set all day with her. The cousin liked Wendy a lot, and said she was a very nice woman while they worked together, and a great mom to her young son (who used to be by her side in her dressing room, while she was getting 'made up'). It was her husband that my friend's cousin could not tolerate - he was sexist, rude, vulgar and demeaning to the females on the staff. Wendy would pull the women aside when he wasn't around, and apologize for his behavior. She found him to be condescending and demeaning to his wife - but Wendy would try to laugh it off and pretend it didn't bother her. My friend's cousin finally left after being there for two consecutive seasons. She was happy when Wendy left her husband.

About 2 years before the show ended, Wendy had a Dating Game for herself, as she was openly stating that she missed having a man around. I bet the guy who "won" is so happy that the relationship fizzled out and he didn't get tied to the circus that Wendy's life became -- those years were the beginning of the decline, so maybe the guy saw the writing on the wall and bailed for his own sanity.

I feel bad for her. She was a cunt to be sure, but so was Howard Stern, who came up the same way she did. I don't hear anyone slagging him for it though. Nobody deserves to suffer like that and it seems she's been self destructing with the booze and coke for a long time.

How can people like this be kept away from her? Is this the responsibility of her guardian and why aren't they naming and SHAMING them? I think the manager dude genuinely cares and is frustrated as he has lost control thanks to that grifter cunt that's trucking her around. Among others I'm sure. She says her bank account was drained and I'm inclined to believe her.

The truth behind court-ordered guardianship. A truly harrowing read describing how any Tom, Dick or Mary can become a "guardian."
The Retired Pilot Went Into The Hospital. Then His Life Went Into A Tailspin. Many older people are one medical emergency away from a court-appointed guardian taking control of their lives
THE Washington Post November 4, 2023 By Mary Jordan
ORLANDO â "When Douglas Hulse pulled his Ford Mustang convertible into a Florida gas station three years ago, he looked so distressed that someone called 911.
An ambulance rushed him to Orlando Health South Seminole Hospital, where doctors said he had a stroke. At 80, the retired pilot who had flown famous passengers around the country could no longer care for himself.
But Hulse lived alone â as 3 out of 5 Americans in their 80s do.
A hospital can be liable if a patient is discharged into an unsafe environment. Because Hulse lived alone and the hospital officials saw no sign that he had family, that put them in a bind when his health didnât improve. So they argued in court that he was no longer capable of making his own decisions and needed a guardian â a caretaker with enormous legal power.
When a judge agreed, Hulse lost basic freedoms: He couldnât spend his own money or decide where to live. The lifelong Republican who had just cast his ballot in the 2020 presidential primary even lost his right to vote. He was quickly moved to a nursing home. His new guardian, a woman he had never met, began selling his house and his belongings."

Her niece totally calls out Wendyâs assistant and sees that sheâs getting paid to tell her aunt whatever she wants to hear.

1. Who the hell with Wendy money keeps ALL of their liquid cash at one bank (Wells Fargo)?? Seriously. Isn't it only insured up to $250k anyway?
2. What type of PR person would even allow this train wreck to be filmed? This documentary was the worst PR imaginable. Fire the PR chick, she's clearly useless and Wendy's image is beyond repair.

I never watched Lifetime before the WW doc, but I know it is infamous for its trashy and tacky movies, many based on real-life situations. I had no idea how crappy those productions are until I saw some of the commercials for movies upcoming on the channel while watching the doc.
One had NeNe Leakes and Denise Richards as two rich bitches stranded on an island and being hunted. The other one was a remake of Single White Female but with two large black women in the title roles. The 30 seconds I watched of that movie was cringy - the actresses were embarrassingly amateurish and... ooof. OMG those movies looked bad.

Watching part 3 where Wendy was in California, she reminded me of the character Norma Desmond. In the movie Sunset Boulevard, Norma is an old movie star who is always dreaming of getting back in front of the cameras, but doesn't realize that her days are over.
Wendy stumbling the streets of CA, visiting studios to make contacts, and asking folks if they know who she is was sad. Also, hearing her constantly mumbling that she needs to get working again, she is Norma v2. Poor dear.

"Even if they don't know the Wendy Williams Show, everybody instantly falls in love with me." ::proceeds to treat every single person she comes into contact with like complete & utter trash::

I binged this last night and it was .... disturbing. Not to be naive, but I hope she can somewhat bounce back from these cognitive/mental/physical health issues to have a meaningful live away from the entertainment industry? Dementia and aphasia sound like a sinking ship though. Her guardianship situation was/is truly fucked up as things didn't need to get that bad and could have been prevented to some extent. Yes, I get that nobody was forcing a bottle of vodka a day down her throat.

R117 with dementia itâs going to get progressively worse. Thereâs no bouncing back from this. She may have her good days or even good weeks but sheâs not going to get better.

I love that in that wreck of a body of hers, she's still impressed by the fact she's got thigh gap.

Same R126. I didn't realize the episode I watched in the last month or so was a precursor to this new multi-part documentary. Now that I have watched all of the episodes of the newer one, I have to say that Wendy is nuts and is in need for 24/7 nursing, probably in some kind of home. I am skeptical of the staff around her throughout the documentary, and frankly am unsure of her own family's trustworthiness, save her sister who seems genuine.

More crap happening to Wendy - seen on today's Yahoo News:
1) The IRS is coming for her - they put a lien on her NYC apartment for over half a million dollars in unpaid taxes from 2019 and 2021.  2) The ex-husband is going back to court to obtain 2 years of spousal support money he feels he is still owed. This punkass will not stop trying to put his fingers back into Wendy's purse.
Maybe the Guardianship place will get a good lawyer and put her assets into a trust or say that her funds will be needed for her future care, then freeze that male golddigger out for good.

There was a recent story detailing some things happening with Wendy and family. Here's some highlights:
Wendy Williamsâ extravagant New York City penthouse is off the market. The former talk show hostâs 2,400 square foot property in the Financial District, which was purchased in July 2021 for $4.5 million, was sold by her guardian on Friday for $3.75 million, according to records accessed by The Post.
The three-bedroom, three-bathroom home boasts a terrace overlooking the Hudson River, as well as floor-to-ceiling windows. The condo overlooks the Hudson River. It features a luxurious terrace; it boasts more than 2,400 square feet.
Wendy Williamsâ guardian demands Kevin Hunter return $112K after he was âoverpaidâ in divorce. He hired a forensic accountant to go over Wendy's finances in a bid to find out where her money is going and to prove that he's still owed money in their alimony settlement.
Wendy Williamsâ son, Kevin Hunter Jr., served with eviction notice from luxe Miami apartment. Lastly, Wendy Williamsâ guardian claims A+E Networks exploited talk show host in new legal filing

There are many people closer to me with mental issues. The world is full of them. This isn't news in my book. I can't care about someone just because they once were on a bad TV show.
