LA Times eviscerates Steve Garvey's good-guy image

Two now-adult children from out-of-wedlock pregnancies whom he's refused to meet. A third daughter he cut off as an adult with no explanation.

[quote]Now both 34, the two children Steve Garvey had with the two different women in 1989 said in a joint statement that they have no partisan or ideological position on the Senate race. They have moved forward with their lives without the father they’ve never known. “In our childhoods, multiple efforts were made through attorneys to arrange a meeting or even a phone call with Mr. Garvey, but he declined every opportunity,” Slade Mendenhall and Ashleigh Young wrote. “Thus, we have never known him, and our only relationships with him were through the family court system.”

Republican family values at their finest.

That was 35 years ago.

All it takes is to put an R next to your name and immediately, you are no longer a good-guy.

He's 75 fucking years old and retired in Palm Desert, which is a boring strip mall filled city near Palm Springs.

He's had debt issues - THAT is more likely why he's getting into politics.

He's a dumbass - and was prompted to run by some Republican because they think famous names=votes a la Schwarzenegger,; Trump, Herschel Walker, etc.

So, r1?

Exactly, r2.

All it takes is to [bold]abandon your children while presenting yourself as a family man[/bold] and immediately, you are no longer a good-guy.

There! All fixded for you!

R5 - nah, all Republicans are bad guys. There are literally no good-guys in the Republican party anymore. None. Are they all as awful as Trump? No.

But they all vote in lock-step, don't care about struggling people, minorities, gays, women, equality, fairness, climate change, healthcare costs, etc.

You can't cherry-pick some issues they don't agree with when they agree and vote for people who go against so many other issues to help people.

Republicans lack compassion, empathy, and the ability to walk in another person's shoes. They are by nature mean, greedy, and self-centered.

The son's cute. About 30 years ago they held the All-Star game in my town and I saw elder Garvey near the stadium. He was actually strikingly handsome in person.
