Is it the one with the incest?
What’s your favorite VC Andrews novel?

Technically, the only “real” VC Andrews novels are the first four “Flowers in the Attic” books: FITA, “Petals on the Wind” , “If There Be Thorns”, “Seeds of Yesterday”, the standalone “My Sweet Audrina” and the first two Heaven books: “Heaven” and “Dark Angel.” The rest were ghostwritten. Andrews was no Jane Austen but you could tell she didn’t write the other books.

R1, Wasn't she dead by the time the other books were written, or was doing much the same thing as James Patterson or Tom Clancy, who didn't really write many of their later novels?

R2, yes, she died in 1986. “Garden of Shadows”, the prequel to FITA was ghostwritten according to her outlines. There was a note put in on her books about this time that stated she had died but had copious notes for future stories. The books under her name came out for about 25 years. How many notes did she have??

I was offered the role of the grandmother by Lifetime producers. Can you imagine? Me, an old, wizened , ,religious zealot? Hell, I thought the incest was the best part! I would have put a whole new spin on things.

The original FITA movie was awful. (Well, it WAS Kristy Swanson) and the 2014 Lifetime version was not much better though Mason Dye was a prettier Christopher.
“My Sweet Audrina” was a fucked up book. The part about the mother of her friend who looked like Liz Taylor but had no legs and wheeled herself around in a wagon was too much.

God I loved VC Andrews when I was a pre teen and teen. My Sweet Audrina was the best of the bunch.

There was a thread earlier that asked what was the scariest book you've ever read. I'd forgotten about these by VC Andrew's. I read them as a teenager and they were disturbing.

My mother had friends who read them and so she finally picked up “Flowers in the Attic” sometime in the 90s and she said, “This book is terribly written.”
