It’s always been short for a man.

I hire my fair share of escorts and masseurs and I can't believe how many 'short' guys are out there. I'm 5' 10" and would like to be with someone my height or taller. There are so many cute guys with fantastic bodies in their ads, and then I scroll down to height - most are 5'6" - 5' 8". Very disappointing and a hard pass from me (and others I know). Most of them, admittedly, are Hispanic / Latino which I'm attracted to - just wish they were taller.

5'8' is not short. 5'7' is short.

There's a big difference in wispy 5'7" and stocky 5'7"
by Anonymous | reply 9 | January 30, 2024 8:02 PM |
This really depends on ethnicity and gender. I don't think it's "short" but it's not "tall". More like medium height.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | January 30, 2024 8:04 PM |
For men? It always was.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | January 30, 2024 8:07 PM |
Well, I'm only 5'6', but I want to be able to wear my 3 inch heels and still have the guy be at least 3 inches taller than me. So even though the average height for men is only 5'9', I refuse to even look at anyone under 6 feet tall.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | January 30, 2024 8:18 PM |
It depends on who you are standing next to.

Women care about men’s height.
Gay men, for the most part, don’t.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | January 30, 2024 8:22 PM |
5’9” and up is standard height for a man. Below that is considered short.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | January 30, 2024 8:30 PM |
R15, is that an archaic thing? I’m sure some women have a preference but now so many are a they/them. I doubt they really care.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | January 30, 2024 8:31 PM |
The average height for American men is 5 feet, 9 inches. That's slightly above the global average height for males, which is 5 feet 7.5 inches.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | January 30, 2024 8:32 PM |
It's not too short to prohibit spectacular, impromptu cartwheeling.

Gender ? Who goes by gender these days ? It's 2024 - everyone is non-binary.

Who is this guy and why is he suddenly everywhere? He reminds me of French Stewart from Third Rock Around the Sun.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | January 31, 2024 12:52 AM |
He looked shorter than he actually is in Saltburn because he was next to the 6'5" Jacob Elordi.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | January 31, 2024 1:38 AM |
It’s actually close to the average height for men. People are deranged these days and think most men are Jacob Elordi tall.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | January 31, 2024 1:40 AM |
You're too short for that gestures, OP.

That's like saying women don't care about penis size, gay men do.

5'8" is average. Americans and Northern Europeans are used to very tall men but world wide 5'8" is strictly on the average.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | February 1, 2024 5:36 PM |
Jacob Elordi is 6'5"? I watched Saltburn and had no idea! That's crazy tall in real life

5'8 is absolutely bang on average in most of the world (or even taller than average in a fair part of it). Its only short in the Netherlands and Northern Europe and East Europe, and not by very much
by Anonymous | reply 36 | February 1, 2024 7:33 PM |
It's gigantic... in Mexico.

It's been my experience that height doesn't always equate to what length of cock you get: guys who are 5'6 who have 9" and guys who are 6'3 with 6".
by Anonymous | reply 39 | February 1, 2024 8:22 PM |
Shoe size has nothing to do with it, and neither does height.

It is interesting (now that I'm semi-retired from an active sex life) to look back at my active years and to realize that 90% of the time if I went home with a shorter guy (I'm 6 feet) I topped him, but if went home with someone taller than I am, I was willing to bottom if that's where the evening ended up going. It wasn't ever predetermined, but somehow it just seemed the natural way to select the activity for the evening. That probably wouldn't work for someone who is strongly determined not to be versatile.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | February 2, 2024 8:13 AM |
R49 I understand your point. But: I'm top-only and I like guys my height, shorter, or taller. But a guy who is a little shorter is somehow extra attractive to me.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | February 2, 2024 8:33 AM |
Barry Keoghan is Irish. The average height for Irish men is 5'10", so Keoghan is short for an Irishman. The average height for white American men is also 5'10", so he looks short to most Americans as well.
Quoting worldwide averages, or even nationwide averages in a diverse country like the US, is meaningless because we have unconscious expectations learned from experience based on race and nationality.

I don't think of 5'8" as short. Generally I'd say that kicks in at 5'6" and below. I'm also fine with men in that range as long as it's their height and not their diameter.

My uncle was 5'6", maybe 5'7" and was the tallest young man in his village in Italy back in the 1950s. A rich guy in a fancy suit came to the village from the big city looking for a husband for his fat, ugly daughter and only child. Rich guy chose my uncle because he was the tallest in the village, didn't even care that my uncle came from a poor family. Uncle married fat ugly daughter and came to America with her family and then was able to sponsor the rest of his family over to the U.S. (my grandparents, mother and other uncles). Guy in fancy suit turned out to be a mobster and uncle went into the business too. Uncle was killed in the mid 1960s over a construction job dispute. My grandmother cried for years that if her son hadn't been the tallest one in the village none of this would have ever happened and she would still have her son.
It isn't always fortuitous to be tall.
