Alyssa Milano blasted after setting up gofundme appeal to pay for her son's baseball team to travel to Cooperstown
"My son's baseball team is raising money for their Cooperstown trip," Milano posted on X.com, formerly Twitter. "Any amount would be so greatly appreciated."
But fans are far from impressed that she's calling on the average joe to support her when she has such an esteemed career from acting, mostly in television.'
One user posted, "Why isn't Alyssa Milano paying for the trip for the whole team herself?"
Whilst a second added, "Why is she asking for money from people who can barely buy groceries."
A third commented, "Alyssa Milano has absolutely lost her mind. How out-of-touch and tone deaf can one person possibly be?"
And a fourth concluded, ""Just a reminder: Alyssa Milano and her husband are both multi-millionaires. They could pay for the entire trip for the whole team without batting an eye!"

I saw Alyssa panhandling outside of a Dollar General yesterday. She's hard up!

Is she really a multi-millionaire? I can't imagine those "Charmed" checks adding up to much.

I just got an email from Alyssa. She needs my help to getting millions of dollars out of her bank. All I have to do is provide my bank account number so the funds can be transferred and then I’ll get a cut of the money! Hopefully after I’ve done this for her, she can pay for this trip.

Even if she wasn't a millionaire there's no way she couldn't cover the whole 10,000 without blinking an eye. Or even just the cost for her own son and I doubt that any of these kids on this team with her son are low income in any way. I'm certain that every single one of those kids comes from a family with the means to pay for this trip.

[quote]"Why is she asking for money from people who can barely buy groceries."
Why are these malcontents pretending she asked impoverished people to donate? Even kids from well-to-do families participate in fundraisers for their schools and extracurricular activities. She should've seen the backlash coming and kept this on her private social media, but anyone who thinks kids with wealthy parents aren't still interested in selling Girl Scout Cookies or funding their own baseball trip are mistaken.

Maybe she wants to be “one of the people.”

I don't have problem with kids raising money for trips, but I do have a problem with pushy parents. The whole point of these things is to teach the kids to work for it themselves! Rich kids need to learn that even more.

The kids are not raising anything when a famous, presumably wealthy parent with vast social media reach starts a GoFundMe begging for money. What does any kid learn from that?

Yes, r6. But they fundraise amongst their own kind in their upscale communities. They don't set up their Girl Scout cookie stands in front of a Safeway in working or middle class neighborhoods.
The school and the other wealthy parents must be embarrassed.

R6, the point is, they aren’t fundraising. She is asking people to give her money. I guess in her possible defense of an indefensible action, she’s was a working actress since she was a young child and probably never did extracurricular activities or even attended real school. Maybe she doesn’t know that parents are supposed to get their friends, coworkers, extended families to buy wrapping paper or tins of popcorn or cookies or whatever the kids are supposed to sell to raise money all the time.
An actress with thousands of social media followers posting a GoFundMe link clearly has no clue how the world works.

That's fundraising. An exchange of goods or services isn't required, although she says the kids also raise money for the team that way.

Seems lazy and tone deaf. If the kids need to raise money they can do it themselves the old fashioned ways. The richer parents can quietly cover the expenses the kids cannot hope to cover through their small time schemes. But it builds character.

So if Trump hoodwinks poor, working class supporters it’s okay as long as he only requests their money and doesn’t demand it? It seems like a kind of desperate attempt to defend what she did.

Actually, Shannen said on her podcast recently that she's planning an extremely small and private funeral so people she doesn't get along with don't show up trying to get a positive PR moment.

Go Fund Me is panhandling. Fundraising is a car wash, or selling cookies, or putting on a musical production in a barn. This cow is begging people for money in exchange for nothing.
