Has anyone here ever met or worked comedian/actor Nathan Fielder?

If so, what's he like? Any stories? This guy is so damn intriguing!!! Discovered him after watching the new show The Curse with Emma Stone and checked out his other projects and been hooked since. The Rehearsal and Nathan For You are also brilliant.

For fellow Curse fans.

And anyone else here a huge fan? And anyone who's seen the Curse finale...what did you think? Holy shit that was something nuts.

by Anonymousreply 2January 26, 2024 1:15 PM

The finale was....good's cousin, not good. The rest of it was pretty good though. I enjoyed he and Emma being phony white saviors and everyone hating them.

by Anonymousreply 3January 26, 2024 1:31 PM

R3 I loved how the ending just came straight outta left field. I wonder if there will be a season 2. they say its not off the table yet but I guess it wasn't originally intended but that they have some definite ideas where they'd take it, if they were to do a season 2. hmm. lots of neat theories on the ending out there, too. I hated Emma's character. She...is the damn Curse.

by Anonymousreply 4January 26, 2024 1:38 PM

I like the theory that after the young girl found out that Asher had gifted them the house, she prayed for Asher to go to heaven. And then he did.

by Anonymousreply 5January 26, 2024 1:43 PM

[quote]She...is the damn Curse.

The curse is also the urge to narrativize our own lives.

by Anonymousreply 6January 26, 2024 1:44 PM

R5 Woah, never heard that one. That...is interesting. And how she wasn't around in the last episode and they made a point of it. hmmmm . Also the ones where Whitney basically wishes him away or he cursed himself in ep 9 about if he felt she didn't love him anymore that he'd disappear. other theories were he was reborn as their baby. hence the fetal position in space and the parallel cut scenes ... cutting of the cord. etc

R6 Yesss

A second season? People would've had to have watched the first.

by Anonymousreply 18January 26, 2024 4:20 PM

R18 To each his own. The show isn't for everyone, I guess.

by Anonymousreply 19January 26, 2024 5:13 PM

I think the Curse is in line with Twin Peaks kinda

Not a fan of him and his brand of cringe comedy. It's like real like Rick and Morty. Something about the intentional need to make people uncomfortable is annoying. But he's doing his thing and people like it, so go off, I guess.

by Anonymousreply 26February 6, 2024 2:42 PM

R26 Rick and Morty is awesome!!! lol ironically, he voiced a character on there once.

not everything is to make people uncomfortable. its the science of getting strange reactions from people and going with the flow of it. watch The Curse, though. very different and the first scripted thing he's done and its really brilliant dramatic acting from him.

by Anonymousreply 27February 6, 2024 9:14 PM

rick and Morty are great!

by Anonymousreply 28February 6, 2024 10:18 PM

OP is responsible for all but 7 of the 28 comments. OP, enough!

by Anonymousreply 29February 6, 2024 10:53 PM

Aww, Opie just wants her thread to be jumping. I love his shows but not really a lot to say about him.

by Anonymousreply 30February 7, 2024 12:10 AM

I'm not OP

by Anonymousreply 31February 7, 2024 2:35 AM

Wait, nvm. I am OP. Thought this was another persons thread I was responding to earlier. I'm on heavy cold meds.

by Anonymousreply 32February 7, 2024 2:37 AM

No, R27. I don't like him and "the science of getting strange reactions" means what exactly? I will give him no reactions. But if he blows smoke up your skirt, you can have my share. Enjoy.

by Anonymousreply 33February 7, 2024 4:41 AM

I love him. He’s brilliant.

Christopher Nolan interviewing Nathan and Benny about The Curse. Nathan is simply adorable in this.

No, but I once blew Arthur Fieldler in the men's room of the Stork Club.

by Anonymousreply 36February 16, 2024 3:30 AM

The Curse was very strange at first. I stayed with it out of curiosity or boredom, I don't know which, but the ending really tied it all together for me. Loved it! I haven't watched any of the interviews or comments about the ending; I prefer my own.

by Anonymousreply 37February 16, 2024 4:21 AM

As Nathan gets older he’s getting sexier and sexier to me.

by Anonymousreply 38February 16, 2024 4:27 AM

R37 Luckily, they have been very vague about the ending... leaving it secret. Except they had the ending written first and worked the rest around it. Its best for interpretation. However, I still want to see a season 2.. because I think those two could literally pull it off without ruining it.

R38 Fuck yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 39February 16, 2024 12:32 PM

He looks like John Mulaney's uglier kid brother. No thanks.

by Anonymousreply 40February 17, 2024 1:02 PM

R38 Understatement!

R40 Ew...they are nothing alike. if anything Nathan resembles mark duplass.

by Anonymousreply 41February 21, 2024 1:54 PM

[quote] He seems like a condescending bully. I don't understand the delight in pranking people, though.

by Anonymousreply 46May 10, 2024 2:19 PM

Is he a baseball player?

by Anonymousreply 47May 16, 2024 1:42 PM

OP, thus was a good YouTube essay on him…made before The Curse, though. When I found out he was trained as a magician it all made sense. I think you’d like this if you haven’t seen it yet.

Just saw the trailer for season 2 of The Rehearsal and that confirms my meh sensibilities towards him and his work. The fabrication, cringe dynamic, manipulation. Just not for me.

by Anonymousreply 49April 12, 2025 1:04 PM

He is incorrectly listed as female on his green card.

by Anonymousreply 50April 12, 2025 1:07 PM

How hasn't he been deported yet then?!?

by Anonymousreply 51April 12, 2025 1:10 PM

Yet, r51.

But being sent home to Vancouver doesn't sound so bad.

by Anonymousreply 52April 12, 2025 1:13 PM

He and his stepdad (played by Corbin Burnsen) both suffer from micro-peen. It was brave for them to take on this issue with such candor.
