There are plenty of Muslims who integrate well into western countries. But there are also some who do not.

If a Hindu community or a Jewish community holds to their religious and cultural identities in a secular western “Christian” country, they don’t really bother anybody else. They keep to themselves. What’s different about a Muslim community doing this is that Islam imposes a visible dress code on women that many interpret as repressive. This causes tension in societies where the rights of women are a central political concern.

Also, Islam still teaches that the faith and the state are inherently intertwined. This does represent a conflict with Western values. It’s not so much of an issue where their numbers are few, but it is an actual threat as the percentage of Muslims in a community rises.
