A New Tallest Building in America Has Been Proposed — and It Isn’t in New York or Chicago
[quote]A building has been proposed by developers in Oklahoma City that, if completed, would be the tallest in America
[quote]It will stand at 1,907 feet tall in honor of the year Oklahoma officially became a state
[quote]The skyscraper is part of a larger development called The Boardwalk at Bricktown which will be spread out across three acres
[quote]The current tallest building in America is One World Trade in New York City, which is 1,776 feet tall

What a stupid idea. I love tall building but the reason they are built is because of limited space on the ground. Building a tower like that in the middle of nowhere may be iconic from a sales pitch but in reality, the business that they imagine will magically what to pay high-rise prices in a place where land is cheap and business that can afford it are few, it's never going to be even half way filled.
Here is what's really going on. They have no plans to actually build that thing. Developers always propose pie in the sky rendering to get everyone excited. Then when the city planning says, nope, too high, they drastically reduce the size and say since we have been talking about this all this time, we still want to move forward with a scaled back version of this project, everyone's happy. But some times they don't even build the tower at all and an what they get is just the surrounding stuff at the base like a shopping mall. Which in many cases was the original intent.

I heard Omaha and Topeka are both trying to beat out Kuala Lumpur's mega-skyscraper, Merdeka 118.

And your building looks like a 1,907 foot tall refurbished building in some two-bit, backstreet town in Oklahoma!!!!

I'm surprised the "tall race" is still on. All tall buildings are structural marvels and, yes, going even higher requires additional engineering feats. But, there are already taller buildings than this proposed building, if not in the US, in other parts of the world. I appreciate new buildings for aesthetic qualities at this point, and appreciate how they're integrated and liven an existing cityscape. Purely being super tall isn't that big of a deal to me. I guess Oklahoma would see it as big "win" to have the tallest building outside of the two American cities known for skycrapers. Who knows, maybe it will be a gorgeous building, but I'm doubtful. And all sorts of things are proposed that never get built.

I assume it will have an observation deck. They'll make money off of that.
These really tall buildings don't make economic sense. It's about bragging rights and putting a city on the map. I once read that the owners of Taipei 101 were happy because half the office space was occupied.

People who buy into the building will be upset at how long the elevators take.
