Duke & Duchess of Sussex Make Surprise Red Carpet Appearance At "One Love" Premiere

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are having a movie night.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made a surprise appearance on Tuesday at the premiere of Bob Marley: One Love in Jamaica. The couple walked the red carpet hand-in-hand, with Meghan in a black ensemble while Harry went with a suit sans tie for the evening out at the Carib Theatre in Kingston.

Bob Marley: One Love, hitting theaters on Feb. 14, stars Kingsley Ben-Adir as the legendary singer and Lashana Lynch as his wife, Rita.

The movie "celebrates the life and music of an icon who inspired generations through his message of love and unity," according to a synopsis.

"On the big screen for the first time, discover Bob’s powerful story of overcoming adversity and the journey behind his revolutionary music," the synopsis added.

The trip marks a return trip to Jamaica for Prince Harry, 39, and Meghan, 42. Before their engagement, the couple headed to the Caribbean country together for the 2017 wedding of Harry's friend Tom “Skippy” Inskip to Lara Hughes-Young.

The joint outing comes just days after Prince Harry attended the Living Legends of Aviation Awards in Beverly Hills on Friday, where he was honored as an inductee. Meghan missed the event because one of their children became ill, PEOPLE understands. They are parents to son Prince Archie, 4, and daughter Princess Lilibet, 2.

Harry is really balding. He’ll be as bald as William in a couple of years.

HAHA to the haters.

Harry and Meg are having a blast.

They had to go to Jamaica because they didn’t get invited to Jeff Bezos’s birthday party.

I'm not so sure.

There are a lot of Bob Marley and Reggae fans out in the world, so it could go either way.

Personally, I'm a Bob Marley fan and I'd love to see this movie.

His story is very interesting.

I do find it strange that this movie is being released on Valentine's Day, because it's definitely NOT a love story.

by Anonymousreply 21January 24, 2024 3:17 PM

I'll see the move on TV. I'll see Meghan posing for Backgrid in a parking lot. I'll see Harry in a Montecito bar, letting everyone else buy him drinks.

The two biggest leeches in the world who mine their titles for all they are worth and pretend to be critics of the RF

by Anonymousreply 23January 24, 2024 4:23 PM

I see she didn’t skimp on the bronzer. Hilariously she couldn’t drive down the road for Harry’s fake award but was happy to hop a plane to go to Jamaica to drag her ball skirt down the tacky red carpet.

by Anonymousreply 24January 24, 2024 4:27 PM

I don’t think they’re mining their titles so much as they are mining their experiences. People don’t care that he’s the Duke of Sussex. They care that he’s Diana’s son.

by Anonymousreply 25January 24, 2024 4:29 PM

Silly old Diana has been dead more than a quarter century. His appeal could be his connection to her, but only deeply middle-aged people and older care about her now.

by Anonymousreply 26January 24, 2024 6:54 PM

“Sunrise” indicates people expected them to be somewhere else (i..e., cared where they were). Their trip is no more a surprise visit than my trip to the grocery store this week.

I wonder of this was a paid appearance. Will there be a Hollywood premiere?

by Anonymousreply 30January 24, 2024 9:32 PM

THEY care about their ducal titles. Otherwise they wouldn't have pretended they were serious about being full-time working royals and then tried to grasp a half-in, half-out scenario.

The Jamaican PM is a dick for posing with them after stating his republican aims to William. They are dicks for going to an event which the PM attended.

[quote] Instead of just staying home and exhibiting a shred of dignity, they decided to show up at this low-rent premiere.

Well I'd say it's more fun than being stuck in a hospital for four weeks.

Even William looks miserable having to go there.

At least Harry and Meghan are out traveling, having fun, and attending premieres.

What are William and Waity doing? Absolutely NOTHING.

Stuck in a hospital, being miserable.

Harry and Meghan are WINNING.

by Anonymousreply 41January 25, 2024 3:38 PM

What exactly are Harry and Meghan winning, r41?

Not sure why you think it's funny and clever to ridicule someone for being ill and not being able to attend events as a result. Meghan wasn't able to attend Harry's Living Legend of Aviation award because one of their kids was allegedly ill.

by Anonymousreply 42January 25, 2024 3:43 PM

[quote] Not sure why you think it's funny and clever to ridicule someone for being ill and not being able to attend events as a result.

For the same reason you Klan Granny cunts feel it necessary to ridicule Harry and Meghan for attending this movie premiere, and calling them "low rent."

[quote]Harry and Meghan are WINNING.

by Anonymousreply 45January 25, 2024 4:28 PM

R43. Blaming someone for being Iill is pretty filthy. And I’m not sure how you know why William looks the way he does. If he went to the hospital grinning from ear to ear you’d say he couldn’t care less about her health.

Criticising two despicable people for doing ridiculous things is not equivalent to criticising someone for being ill.

by Anonymousreply 46January 25, 2024 4:30 PM

[quote] The Jamaican PM is a dick for posing with them after stating his republican aims to William. They are dicks for going to an event which the PM attended.

It's not an accident. Harry and Meghan are warmly received in the colonies, William and Kate not so much.

William and Catherine were well received there.

by Anonymousreply 49January 25, 2024 5:04 PM

Mentally ill nutcase at r43, it was a low-rent event because Paramount Pictures made it a low-rent event. Inviting these two grifters sealed its fate. That's all they are these days, a couple of rent-a-celebs invited by to low-rent events for as clickbait. They're never invited to create anything or do anything of their own.

Andrew Holness, the Jamaican prime minister, doesn't even look particularly overjoyed to be standing next to them. He's being polite and diplomatic, but that's it. His only interest in Harry is that his presence might get some international spotlight for Jamaica, because Harry is Charles' son.

by Anonymousreply 57January 25, 2024 7:45 PM

You really wish Charles had the balls in the family instead of Camilla and gone old testament on Harry saying 'You are no longer my son! You have shamed me and my kingdom!' Or else why even bother being king?

by Anonymousreply 58January 25, 2024 7:59 PM

I think the Harkles are fishing for a reality show. They want to be the new Kardashians . Problem is, they are boring, and don’t even have any interesting friends or family to introduce for interest. Yawn. These two need to give it up.

by Anonymousreply 59January 25, 2024 7:59 PM

I definitely think they were relieved to be able to go to this, even if it was long-planned, and not have to admit they didn’t get invited to Bezos’s birthday. But it also seems perfectly reasonable to me that they would attend. Meghan is an actress, the star is British, and Jamaica’s link to the UK is huge. It’s a perfect fit.

I also think the Daily Mail coverage is telling. Criticizing them because the Jamaican PM apparently wasn’t adequately enthusiastic about Will and Kate’s visit, therefore Harry and Megan shouldn’t visit? Jamaica is still a commonwealth country. Is every British person with any kind of connection to the BRF supposed to shun the entire country now? Ridiculous. I now think the DM has been a lot more biased and manipulative and influential than I thought before Kate got sick. It’s always been a rag, but something else is going on. I think Harry and Meghan were treated unfairly and reacted poorly to that. DM was like a bully taunting them. And, like many bullies, the DM chose victims who were unlikeable and worthy of criticism in many ways. But I think we’ve been played.

They do seem to do the wrong thing almost all the time, but I don’t think this was one of them.

I think the British press has known Kate was ill since at least September and I think the BRF has more control over what they publicize than people realize. It’s a cooperative relationship but it wouldn’t be believable if they didn’t print some bad and embarrassing stuff. That is just what I think. I can’t prove it, I could be wrong. I also think the BRF has people spending a lot of time trying to control what pops up online.

by Anonymousreply 71January 25, 2024 11:41 PM

What’s the issue with the video at R65, outside of her being overdressed and the event looking like a local fundraiser held at a mall movie theater? Because the Daily Mail has an article saying it was awkward. I don’t see it.,

The article also details her outfit. It’s a top and skirt, so might have been more casual IRL than what it looks like in photographs. Don’t get me wrong - it’s still a disaster - and the skirt does look ballgown equivalent. She failed, again. But it might have been a case of her not thinking through the physical setting and how all black would photograph vs. simply selecting a ball gown for a casual event. She could have worn a skirt with an equal amount of voluminous fabric, but less stiff and puffy, in a colorful tropical or tropical-adjacent print and looked fine.

Meghan went to Costa Rica for vacation and came back with a new face she unveiled at the premiere. They posed with Holness to give the finger to the RF at a time when two members were seriously ill. Not classy. She looked lovely in a posed photo but not so great when she was seated in those sticky theater seats. Still the curiosity about why they were there, who invited them, etc. goes on. Who cares? They've slid into rent-a-Royal territory and it began when Harry posed with Mario Max. Celebrity Big Brother and Real Housewives beckon. After Harry's ridiculous dig at John Travolta at the aviation faux award thing last week I suspect whatever last vestiges of interest Hollywood had for these two has totally dissipated. It's pretty clear that Harry is a liability.

[quote] What did he say about Travolta?

by Anonymousreply 99January 27, 2024 6:12 PM

No matter who he married, Harry was always going to be a petty, spiteful, vindictive little man. His entitlement has always been next level. Meghan just brought his personality to the surface quicker than others would have done.

I hope she rinses him dry in the inevitable divorce. She's played a blinder.

by Anonymousreply 100January 27, 2024 6:20 PM

R98, Travolta introduced Harry for the award and mentioned the famous dance with his mum, to which Harry said, when he went to the podium:

[quote]I was one-year-old when you danced with my mum. As you've told everybody here and continue to dine out on that probably every single night.

Rudely gesticulating with his arm, he finished by dismissing Travolta with a "that's it. Thank you. Goodbye".

John Travolta is a famous and much-loved actor who has played in some truly iconic roles. He's never gone on about Diana and it wasn't inappropriate to mention the dance with her in this context. If anyone is dining out on his connection to Diana, it's Harry.

by Anonymousreply 106January 27, 2024 6:45 PM

[quote] Diana fed off that dance with Travolta

Oh, please. That was one night in the 1980's.

Diana didn't hit peak fame until the 1990's, and the Travolta dance was nothing but a blip in history.

That's what made the joke, a joke.

No one thinks about it at all, except for John Travolta.

And since he's gay, I highly doubt that even HE thinks about it. Except as a gay fan of hers.

by Anonymousreply 107January 27, 2024 7:00 PM

I'm not sure it was a joke, r105, just the way he was jerking his arm around aggressively suggests that Travolta had triggered him in some way. And, what bad taste, to make a joke about his mother and such a creepy joke at that.

But even if it was just an innocent joke, it was entirely inappropriate. Harry is just digging an even bigger hole for himself and ensuring that he won't be invited to anything again.

by Anonymousreply 108January 27, 2024 7:47 PM

Harry might be on some autistic spectrum. He communicates poorly, his humour is off in these situations.

He was far more in control of his feelings when shaking hands with the plebs on royal walkabouts. Put him in with his equals or betters and he's a mess.

by Anonymousreply 109January 27, 2024 7:58 PM

For Harry to make such a stupid joke at Travolta’s expense is the best way to make sure that whatever little goodwill there was left in Hollywood for these 2 grifters is gone.

by Anonymousreply 113January 28, 2024 5:28 AM

Harry is a narcissist too. It was just covered up until he left the BRF. He loves attention, his rank and only seems to regard his mother through the prism of her fame (and her star and status were waning just before she died) and how he thinks she died.

There was no reason for the Mercedes to speed on the last night of her life, no real reason for her not to wear a seatbelt in a speeding armoured car driven by someone under the influence. Pap shots of her before the crash show her looking out the back window.

A sad, silly, pointless death. But that she was hanging out with the Fayeds that last summer...well it was hardly an Alist scene. If she was trying to make the heart surgeon jealous, that's sadder still.

The fact that she told Morton that she stopped loving Charles after what he said about the infant Harry being a boy and not the daughter he wanted, and ginger to boot, exemplified her BPD nature.

QUOTE [By going to a low-rent event in shithole Jamaica?]

Only a bitter racist hag without a passport would say this. Those of us with the money to vacation in Jamaica know that it's beautiful. Meghan and Harry will be enjoying those gorgeous beaches and the warm turquoise ocean.

[QUOTE] The fact that she told Morton that she stopped loving Charles after what he said about the infant Harry being a boy and not the daughter he wanted, and ginger to boot, exemplified her BPD nature.

How? That was probably the last straw after his affair with the ugliest woman on earth. Not evidence of anything except a rational mind.

by Anonymousreply 116January 28, 2024 8:33 AM

Kate's surgery is definitely related to her life long eating disorder. She's leaving hospital with a stoma and William won't be coming anywhere near that.

by Anonymousreply 117January 28, 2024 8:34 AM

Only a fucking moron would imagine that criticising one event at one venue is criticism of an entire country, r115. The event was low-rent because US company Paramount organised a low-rent premiere. The Legends of Aviation award in LA was low rent, the Hertz car rental office walk made Gloria Steinem's Women of Vision award in NYC low rent. Saying those were low-rent events is not calling LA or NYC or the whole US low rent.

Those two imagined a life as distinguished guests at major global events where they would be feted, but their actions, motivations and personalities are so dodgy and risky that they the only thing their agency can arrange places for them at now is low-rent events.

by Anonymousreply 118January 28, 2024 8:44 AM

"Those of us with the money to vacation in Jamaica know that it's beautiful. Meghan and Harry will be enjoying those gorgeous beaches and the warm turquoise ocean."

And the homophobia, R115, don't forget that. But your skinny white ass doesn't care about that once you can pay for some BBC there.

by Anonymousreply 119January 28, 2024 10:01 AM

Jamaica is so homophobic that should people like the Harkles (who pretend to be woke) even be going there? Rod Stewart cited homophobia as one of several reasons why he wouldn't perform in Saudi Arabia.

by Anonymousreply 120January 28, 2024 10:10 AM

How is Harry going to justify the inevitable hair transplant? It's only a matter of time.

Will he claim hair loss through the trauma of Diana's death, or the stress caused by having Charles as a father and William as a brother? Whatever it is, the reason won't be cause he's gone 'Hollywood'.

by Anonymousreply 121January 28, 2024 11:01 AM

He should deal with his facial calamities and his balding issue by wearing a paper bag on his head. That would try be a service to the world.

What happened to the Harkles and this horseshit?

Impact partners? They're as bad as fucking Goop.

The video at this link is hilarious. At 20 seconds, just as Harry and Meghan are about to mount the steps of the red carpet, one of Meghan's assistants comes running up to fix the fastener on her skirt! "Discreetly", of course.

Well she did have to get changed in the back of one of those beach holiday rickshaws, R124.

by Anonymousreply 125January 28, 2024 12:43 PM

And here you can see, starting around 28:10, Harry and Meghan about to mount the red carpet steps in the "official" video taken from a different position. Meghan and her assistant are shown talking but what the assistant's hand is doing is not visible. It's hilarious what gets edited out, although there's a split-second glimpse of the assistant's hand fixing the fastener at around 28:43.

LOL it looks like they shoved their way in to be photographed with the head of Paramount and his wife, who notably did not move over and left Price Dum Dum standing in front of the foliage.

by Anonymousreply 128January 28, 2024 3:06 PM

So they flew to this event in a private jet. Do they ever fly with commercial airlines?

by Anonymousreply 129January 28, 2024 8:00 PM

No, R129, 'cause Uncle Elton will offset any of our carbon emissions. And I just have to deal with Uncle Elton's remaining emissions.

by Anonymousreply 130January 28, 2024 9:09 PM

Is Elton still subsidising them? Maybe if people stopped lending them jets, etc, they'd actually do some work.

And can't they claim most expenses against the Archewell Foundation? They live in a house with 16 toilets: do they fudge expenses for the upkeep via the Foundation because they use a study there for their "work"?

by Anonymousreply 131January 28, 2024 9:32 PM

Yup, the clip of them desperately pushing their way into a photograph shoot, having to stand in front of the potted plant at the side —and being completely ignored by everyone, is beyond desperation and beyond embarrassment. incredibly pathetic. He, who supposedly hates the media and she who is utterly desperate to be seen in the media.

by Anonymousreply 132January 28, 2024 9:40 PM

They are utterly incapable of feeling shame or embarrassment.

Is that true, or did you make it up?

by Anonymousreply 136January 29, 2024 8:23 AM

Harry has done well to hold onto his hair considering William was completely bald on top at his wedding aged 28.

Harry and Meghan have a very pleasant, affluent life. If you dream about their being ruined, it's time for a new hobby. It's okay to hate them; just don't confuse your feelings with reality,

by Anonymousreply 144January 29, 2024 3:08 PM

One sure sign of a really happy person is that he or she bitches endlessly about things that happened years ago or about that job they held for a few months a few years back.

by Anonymousreply 145January 29, 2024 3:40 PM

In the process of trying to ruin his family, r144, they've ruined their own lives.

by Anonymousreply 146January 29, 2024 3:41 PM

I didn't say they were happy. I think they'll always have something to bitch about. But, objectively, they live a life of leisure with no real wants.

by Anonymousreply 147January 29, 2024 3:48 PM

Yes, we know that, r147. They lead a pleasant, affluent life that they attained almost solely because of his family yet they can't stop bitching, in particular about his family.

by Anonymousreply 148January 29, 2024 4:18 PM

[quote] they live a life of leisure with no real wants.

Being the "spare" and having no real purpose to his existence is one of the main issues in Harry's life. He's talked about being trying to fill that void for years wit the army, charity work and in his view protecting Meghan and the kids by suing the shit out of the tabloids and fleeing the country. But at this point he's living as moderately rich middle aged polo player with no real close friends left and a failing charity whose only real excitement is attending 3 award shows no ones ever heard of a year. So no I don't think he's particularly happy with how his aimless life in California has turned out.

by Anonymousreply 149January 29, 2024 4:48 PM

Well, then you won. I assume you won't be posting unless his charities fuck up bigtime as one has recently.

by Anonymousreply 150January 29, 2024 5:17 PM

They want to be invited to Oscar events, parties such as those thrown by the Obamas, Oprah, etc. Dior contracts, Madame to be viewed as a supermodel, face of L'Oréal, certainly something which shows off her "legs a mile long".

They fly to Jamaica so she can wear a badly-fitting taffeta ball-skirt to celebrate a man who most frequently wore double denim and who was unconcerned with his own wealth.

They are clueless but very amusing.

What IS going on behind the scenes at Archewell? Inside the mass exodus of workers from Harry and Meghan's production company as TV whizzkid becomes second exec to quit after working on Netflix series and 17th staffer to leave since they married in 2018

by Anonymousreply 153January 30, 2024 12:12 PM

After Spare, very few people want anything to do with them anymore. Harry showed himself to be an arrogant, entitled backstabber, with no compunction about revealing everybody's personal issues, including those of his own family. I wonder if Meghan has realised just how much she fucked up by encouraging him to abandon the UK and shit on his family. The interview with Oprah was her high point. Now even Oprah and Gayle have turned their backs on them. They could easily have remained in the UK and led a life like that of his cousins, Zara and Mike Tindall for example, or like that of his Uncle Edward, who tried his hand at various things when younger, even started his own production company while his wife still worked, and now he and Sophie are respected working royals after having done their own thing for a bit.

But, no, Harry's aim wasn't simply to step back from his family, it was to destroy his family, and he ended up ruining himself instead. The worst thing is all the wonderful, unique things he's depriving his children of.

by Anonymousreply 154January 30, 2024 1:41 PM

They never would’ve been happy in England. Meghan, especially, needed to be the star, front and center of everything, all eyes on her. Back in England they were behind The Queen and William’s family. That wouldn’t do.

They thought they be super popular top dogs in the US. Their mistake is that the majority of Americans don’t give a shit about them, and think they are fools for leaving the wealth and security of the royal family.

Even if they left because racism, living a mostly private, regular rich people’s life in California would’ve been understandable for most people. Instead they tried to be American royalty, which won’t work. What could they possibly have to say that we’d care about?

by Anonymousreply 155January 30, 2024 2:11 PM

It could be argued that the Oprah interview was the beginning of the end for her since she sat there and spouted easily refuted lies, including that ridiculous tale of being suicidal but being cured by Harry hugging her. Only the most easily gullible bought that story.

by Anonymousreply 156January 30, 2024 2:18 PM

I just read all the horseshit below for the first time. What a WANKER.

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

For Harry, this is that story at last.

Before losing his mother, twelve-year-old Prince Harry was known as the carefree one, the happy-go-lucky Spare to the more serious Heir. Grief changed everything. He struggled at school, struggled with anger, with loneliness—and, because he blamed the press for his mother’s death, he struggled to accept life in the spotlight.

At twenty-one, he joined the British Army. The discipline gave him structure, and two combat tours made him a hero at home. But he soon felt more lost than ever, suffering from post-traumatic stress and prone to crippling panic attacks. Above all, he couldn’t find true love.

Then he met Meghan. The world was swept away by the couple’s cinematic romance and rejoiced in their fairy-tale wedding. But from the beginning, Harry and Meghan were preyed upon by the press, subjected to waves of abuse, racism, and lies. Watching his wife suffer, their safety and mental health at risk, Harry saw no other way to prevent the tragedy of history repeating itself but to flee his mother country. Over the centuries, leaving the Royal Family was an act few had dared. The last to try, in fact, had been his mother. . . .

For the first time, Prince Harry tells his own story, chronicling his journey with raw, unflinching honesty. A landmark publication, Spare is full of insight, revelation, self-examination, and hard-won wisdom about the eternal power of love over grief.

[quote] The world was swept away by the couple’s cinematic romance

Cinematic romance? Excuse me? What does that even mean? They went on lots of dates to the cinema/movie theatre?

by Anonymousreply 158January 31, 2024 9:15 AM

She thinks she's Liz Taylor, r158?

Not only does he milk his mothers, death shamelessly, he's a bigger MARY! than any of us:

The press, r160! They killed Diana for being with a man who wasn't white! That the couple were driven without seatbelts in a speeding car by a drunk is irrelevant!

The press won't stop until Meghan is dead!

by Anonymousreply 163January 31, 2024 11:37 AM

If your recall, dear Meghan was subjected to horrific abuse such as being forced to wear neutrals!!!! Along with having to walk behind William and Kate!!!

by Anonymousreply 164January 31, 2024 2:42 PM

Foolish or not, Americans are fascinated with the Royal Family and loved the Queen. Americans want to believe the fairytale. Trying to burst that bubble was a stupid move from a marketing standpoint.

Those two should have moved to the US and started a charity, kept things quiet and discreet, and kept good ties with the BFF, no matter what shit went down in the past.

Meghan should have insisted that as an American she didn't want a title ...and no title for the kids. Not even Princess Anne's kids have titles.

She should have shown THANKS to the Royal family.

They should have set out to slowly build credibility and trust. By this time, after 5 years, they would have been so much further ahead.

KLAN THREAD

by Anonymousreply 168February 3, 2024 4:29 AM

The problem was Harry is an idiot and fundamentally misunderstood his mother’s appeal. She spent 15ish years on the inside first. And she was naturally charming and looked great doing it. Markle had none of those qualities. Harry had the insider mystique but squandered it totally.

by Anonymousreply 169February 3, 2024 5:25 AM

Diana was a superstar but her appeal was fading in the months (maybe even years) before her death. She must have been at a loose end to spend the summer with the Al Fayeds and toying with Dodi and the press.

Didn't she have anything better to do?

And whoever had the idea at the Ritz of sending their usual car and driver off out the front with decoy Di and Dodi so the real couple could sneak out the back, driven by a drunk, was a prized idiot. The Al Fayeds were lucky they weren't subjected to a wrongful death lawsuit. No wonder Mohammed blamed the press and came up with conspiracy theories. What is stupid is how the press were found partially to blame.

Drunken, speeding driver and only one of the four occupants in the black Mercedes who was wearing a seatbelt survived. Case closed.

I remember shortly after Michael Hutchence died several months after Diana, there was a tasteless joke doing the rounds:

What's the difference between Michael Hutchence and Princess Diana? He belted up, she didn't.
